Windsor stumbles upon a life-altering secret in the opening chapter, and just as you’re reeling from the shock, the narrative takes you back to the beginning—her first encounter with Maverick. The timeline gradually catches up to that pivotal moment, creating an engaging journey of discovery. Initially, I couldn’t imagine liking Maverick after what he seemed to be hiding for so long. But as the story unfolded, it became clear that things weren’t as straightforward as they appeared. The use of dual POV was a genius move, offering an intimate look into Maverick’s thoughts and showing how genuine his feelings for Windsor were. Watching him transform from a cocky playboy to a man deeply in love was one of the highlights of the book.
The pacing of the story was masterfully done. Instead of dragging through every moment, the chapters smoothly skipped ahead by days or even weeks without leaving anything out. Once Maverick was deployed, the narrative shifted to a series of heartfelt emails between him and Windsor. This format was not only an efficient way to cover months of time but also allowed their relationship to deepen in a natural and meaningful way. These email exchanges became some of my favorite parts, offering a window into their growing bond while life kept moving forward.
Windsor and Maverick were both unforgettable characters. Maverick, with his irresistible charm and signature dimples, was completely swoon-worthy, while Windsor’s strength and relatability made her an ideal counterpart. Their relationship was built on small, personal moments that felt deeply authentic—like “one word,” Maverick’s songs, his tattoos, Goose, and the piggyback rides. These little details brought their story to life and made their connection feel unique and special.
The secondary characters were just as compelling. Morganna and Stone’s storyline was heartbreakingly raw, and Gretchen, Windsor’s hilarious roommate, stole the show every time she appeared—I’d love to see her star in her own book! The friendship and loyalty between Stone and Maverick added even more depth to the story. Their brotherhood, especially during the challenges of deployment and its aftermath, was beautifully portrayed. Stone’s letter to Maverick was profoundly moving, and Maverick’s letter to Windsor was so emotionally charged that it left me in tears. In fact, the final third of the book packed an emotional punch, with moments that had me reaching for tissues more than once. Despite the heartache, the conclusion tied everything together perfectly, and the epilogue was the perfect send-off.
This story was an emotional rollercoaster, balancing passion, angst, and heartfelt moments with ease. It’s the kind of book you won’t be able to put down—I devoured it in just a couple of sittings. Whether you’re looking for a romance with depth, a hero who will sweep you off your feet, or a story filled with memorable characters, this book has it all. Crazy Good is exactly that—crazy good. Raven Hill endures humiliation at the hands of her ex, Evan, and she’s eager to get back at him. What better way to do so than by spending a night with his adversary, Dylan Sharpe?
As a fresh business graduate, Raven aims to build her career in the Financial District, with aspirations to work with Dylan. After witnessing her breakup with her disloyal ex, Dylan is fascinated by how she handled the situation. While he recognizes her talents, he isn't ready to hire her just yet. Instead, he proposes attending a networking event together to help her make valuable connections.
What starts as a business-related endeavor quickly evolves into something much more intimate, and their chemistry is palpable. I adored the passion between them; it was clear they were made for each other.
In summary, I found this book to be absolutely delightful! I highly recommend giving it a read.

This standalone book, though interconnected with her other works, shines brightly on its own with a gripping story full of intense emotions, complex characters, and high stakes.
Valentina Ferraro is the embodiment of strength and resilience. Her fiery resistance to the dangerous and possessive Fiero Maltese, Don Maltese who sets his sights on her, makes for electric chemistry that leaps off the pages. Davis masterfully captures Valentina's struggle between defiance and desire, creating a layered and believable character who refuses to be simply an object in a man's world.
Fiero Maltese, ruthless and fierce, is determined to claim Valentina at all costs. His proposition to her husband, the ensuing battle for her freedom, and the raw intensity of their interactions are both thrilling and disturbing, in true dark romance fashion. Davis doesn’t shy away from the gritty realities of this world, keeping the tension thick while layering in moments of surprising tenderness that make the story unforgettable.
*Taking What’s Mine* is not just a romance; it’s a journey through dangerous alliances, betrayals, and an all-consuming desire that threatens to start a war. The twists and power dynamics between New York and Florida's mafia families add another level of intrigue, making it impossible to put down.
