The story howeverThis one gives you a pleasant atmosphere of Summer, I loved Shannon's writing for describing scenic views and the prose were amazing. The story however, I felt was slow and kept on dragging with few main characters it felt like give me something to up the graph. But at times I felt it was like flat line.
Trigger warning as there are rape scene that can upset people.
I wanted to have more horses, they just took a backseat as the story went ahead.

This is my second read by author Sudipto Das, and I quite liked his The Aryabhatta Clan (the book had cryptic messages and a whole lot of thrill to decipher it). The Blurb of The Broken Amoretti, gave me the same vibes, there will be a cryptic message and story will unravel it. However, I was disappointed in that a bit. I can’t review the story as whole, so I will divide it in two parts.
The Relevant : I loved how the author started the setting up of characters, and their known/unknown love for a place called ‘prembajar’. There were references to great poets, and their poetries. The poetries were explained, giving the background of meter and everything. Which was new to me, and I liked it. This simply showed the research author did for getting these parts in the novel.
I loved how the author tried to fictionalize WHO was Panchali or stories about characters from Greek Mythology Artemis, Callisto and some more..
The story’s main aim was writing about how love has no boundaries and no gender, in a way that it was convincing. This was mainly done giving background’s of mythologies and many poetries. But when I think back after completing it, it was just brushed up on the story. Later the story becomes something else, which makes me sad.
First book by Naimesha Thakur, and I am already a fan of the plot she used, the world she created, the characters she introduced. The language is 3.5/5
First book by Naimesha Thakur, and I am already a fan of the plot she used, the world she created, the characters she introduced. The language is easy to read and understand. But the Island and the writer’s world can be a bit difficult to understand. There is SO MUCH information and yet I felt there should be some more about it. Author has given an amazing description of how the “PROCESS” works. Still, I was confused, because there was lots of information thrown at me at a single time. I wish this was done in due time, given bits of information while the story proceeds. The “Black Mistake” , I am curious to know what was it about ? I mean,

The book plot, and Mohan's unique disability surely raise our interest more to the book. The writing was easy to understand and there are many references used to connect with reader's by talking about Dhoni finishing shot and Sachin's slong shot (mostly in the first half of the book) This will be my first book, where author himself has a talk in his own book. He talks to readers about a certain situation(Dear Readers...). I almost had feeling like "Main Samay hun"(remember ? A man aura used to come in Mahabharat's TV) The friendship between Mohan, Nikhil, Brij & later Revathy was amazing to read about. The main characters were BIG time "flawed", and I loved them because they felt real. I wish the cover was something else, as it doesn't justify the content and deepness of the plot of book.

I loved what Shelby and Renee did with this one. There were many emotions, in those 175 pages. There is love, lost, peace, irrational conflicts of mind, talks about snow, and 'velvet people'. Though I don't think I completely understand what 'velvet people' were referred too, but I am reading 'The Color Purple by Alice Walker' So i connect them when I read velvet people. Some of the prose gave a sense of connectivity, and I totally adored the small illustrations that were mapped with some of the writings. The book also gives us amazing take on mental illness too There are so many highlights that I have made in to go back to when I need to relive this book. One of them is 'a man with a broken spine couldn't walk around pretending he is fine. so why should a man with a broken mind be expected to?'
Things that worked out for me : > There is a learning from the book, not about friendship, but I now know there is something called Selective Mutism which can cover up child. I love it when I take away such things from a novel. (extra star just for this) > Friendship between Sophie and Helen. It was pure, and what I think everyone should have. It warmed my heart. > Stating past and present together can lead to a lot of confusion to some people. But for me, it was also a reason to get a thrill. Because I knew there is something bad to happen in the future(when reading past)
Things that didn’t worked for me : > The story felt stretched a lot. There were twist that started from 70th page or so, and it got it’s ending in the last 20 pages. Well by then, we all have kinda guessed it. So it was a let down for me. > Due to past-present the dialogue got mixed. Like it was Emma who was talking, and due to pre-text I thought it’s still Sophie talking/thinking.> There were screens/characters which weren’t actually required, like Emma visits Sophie in Lizard, Melanie & Tom’s love angel. > The Epilogue, this is the first book whose epilogue has the content we are looking for in the whole book. It was the length of a whole chapter, more than what conclusions should read like...more
3.3/5 (the reason I don't give rating to books sometimes after I read them. This book was around 2.5 when I read, but while reviewing I felt it was a 3.3/5 (the reason I don't give rating to books sometimes after I read them. This book was around 2.5 when I read, but while reviewing I felt it was a surely 3+)
Light, easy, refreshing read that will give you, Queen meets, DDLJ and English Vinglish vibes.
Things that worked out for me : > BEA-U-TIFUL Cover, the Title and the story in general. > Loved the description of places Taara visited. > Emotions were shown plain and simple yet deep, and I could connect with them (except some)
Things that didn’t worked for me :
> There were parts in the story that I wish were given more read-time, too many loose ends. (mentioned in weird things’ section) > The steamy action wasn’t required at all. Sometimes things can be left unsaid and to be felt loved. > The end was kind of cliffhanger, it left me with so many questions. (Is she working now ? How her parents reacted to the fact that things didn’t work out as she said before leaving.) Well, I am a very caring person, and it makes my duty to know about the character I invested in.
Authoress Neha Bindal YOU NEED TO WRITE A SEQUEL, to answer above . 😀
Writing style of Authoress, Neha reminded me of articles that was shown/written by Carry Bradshaw in Sex & the City. They always had that edge of questions at the end, and they were two faced.
