The whole cheating plot from two books before was still in my head and I’m honest, I was prepared to give Summer zero chances to win me over. Somewhere along the way though, I had to cave in and just enjoy reading this book.
The story seemed way more steamier than the other books in this series. Archie is a notorious womanizer and his fling with Summer starts out as a friends/ acquaintance with benefits type of thing. She needs something to get her mind off the wedding and everyone in the wedding party judging her for her cheating scandal and he just wants a week full of fun. But what starts out as fun turns into something more along the way.
This story was really cute and the characters were great. I loved watching them fall for each other and even though it’s not realistic that someone like Archie, who’s scared of commitment, makes a 180° change within a week, it worked in this book. At least for me. Like I said, Summer grew on me and I did like her, she understood what she did wrong and didn’t want anyone’s forgiveness, she knew she didn’t deserve that and that made her not only more likable but also showed some strong character growth and I’m all here for that. ...more

She’s a wildlife (I think) photographer and he’s an archeologist, who’s trying to discover the legendary golden city. As part of his discovery team Winter accompanies Logan to the jungle of Thailand.
Our first meeting with Logan could have been better, literally one of the first things he thinks when he sees Winter is that he doesn’t want women on his team, because they overcomplicate everything. He and Winter bicker over everything, even when he tries to be civil, she thinks he’s being hostile. It was a bit annoying to be honest.
When it comes to the plot in this book, it was a little more high stakes then in the previous books. We have a great adventure story with some obstacles and I liked that the story focuses on more than Logan and Winter.
I like the writing style and will dive into the next book in this series right away, which will focus on Summer, Winter’s evil twin and Archie, Logan's best friend. ...more

They can’t really understand each other, and Luka’s constantly drugged, but they find a way to care for and protect each other.
In this book we learn a little more about the plot that goes across the whole series, at least that’s what I expect. We see more about the struggles of Clecanian and how some guerilla organizations try to repopulate their home.
The characters seemed a little bland compared to Theo and Jade from the first book. We don’t see a lot of Luka, especially in the beginning, since he’s drugged constantly and isn’t able to build coherent thoughts. ...more

She’s able to escape and the inhabitants of this planet promise her protection, if she follows their rules and follows their culture, which essentially means she has to choose a husband. Not willing to give up her dream of going back to earth one day, she decides to play along.
Jade and Theo were such a great couple. It took some time before Theo starts trusting Jade, which is only fair, after everything he’s been through. He thinks she’s a spy because no one in their right mind would pick him. But then Jade starts to do everything differently from what he expected and it was so fun to see him fall for her and for her to crack his shell.
The writing was good, it was a fun and fast read. There’s a main plot besides the romance about some conspiracy, which I really enjoyed and which will accompany us through some more books in this series. I’m looking forward to reading more. ...more

Max, the FMC in this book though, was really trusting, naive and just plain stupid. It took her ages to figure something elemental out, which I knew after only a few sentences from Rhagos and it was infuriating how long it took for Max to realize (view spoiler)[that he was the aspect of Lies. (hide spoiler)] And then she was mad about it like it was Rhagos fault that she was to blind to see what he was trying to tell her.
I still liked the romance, I liked how they both fought for each other and that we get to see a different side of the world that the gods live in.
I’m definitely continuing this series and I hope we get a lot more books in this world. ...more

BridgWe’ve seen hints for A’tam and Bridget’s story for a while now and in this book we get the chance to see what really happened between these two. Bridget hinted that the night we shared with A’tam wasn’t good and that she doesn’t wish to repeat the night, but A’tam, like all the other Sa-Khui can’t do casual and doesn’t understand why she doesn’t want to share his furs. And once resonance hits, they both know that they will find each other again.
The main problem between these two characters is communication. A’tam doesn’t listen to anything Bridget says and doesn’t even try to understand her. Bridget on the other hand doesn’t say all too much to him directly not to hurt his feelings (or something). There’s so much miscommunication in this book, it drove me mad.
I liked the idea that Sex isn’t always great the first time and that it takes both partners to acknowledge their own wants and to articulate them, to make it a great experience for both. For all the other girls it just worked out, so I was glad to see that finally someone wasn’t perfect from the beginning. ...more

So far we only saw her bright and happy, but in this book we learn that she has a dark past and that Raven is just another character for her to play, to disguise her true self.
I enjoyed discovering Ravens ‘dark’ secrets, even though I didn’t think there was anything wrong with her old life, she lived with a stigma that shouldn’t exist in our society.
In this book we also met two new characters that we will hopefully see more of in the next few books. The two sole survivors from Outcast clan. It was interesting to learn a little more of the society that the islanders lived in and it was absolutely appalling to see how some people were branded outcast just because they didn’t have some physical traits (like four arms, tall horns or fur). I liked how Raven stood up for these two and tried to educate U’dron.
Now that I named him, I was also shocked to see how the other from Shadow Cat Clan treated U’dron just because he wasn’t able to fulfill his ritual and how they tried to cling to their old traditions, even though it should have been a new beginning for everyone. ...more

This plot ws teased throughout the other books, we get glimpses of Mari and T’chai here and there and I was excited to read about them. We learn more about the Khuis, how they work and how they can be influenced by Veronica and Maylak.
There’s also a new character that finds her way onto the Iceplanet, Daisy. She brings bad news from earth, which I already knew about, but the news shock our heroines and I look forward to seeing how this affects their behavior in the future.
One thing I have to say is that I hated Tia. I’m glad that she’s not part of the beach tribe for now and I hope we don’t get to see too much of her in the future books. ...more

After the events of ‘Stone Princess’ she’s now sort of in witness protection, because Luke, the Sheriff of Clifton Forge, fears an attack to retaliate for everything Jeremiah has done.
Let me be honest with you, I wasn’t a big fan of Scarlett. Even though everything turned out great for Presley in the end, learning that she was the reason Jeremiah stood her up at the altar was something I can’t stand for and never will. I think it’s being glossed over by the author, because it was for the best, but this kind of betrayal between sisters has to hurt and that no one ever really speaks about it, made me mad.
We learn a lot more about Scarlett’s and Presley’s past but we also learn much more about Luke. He was such a sweetheart, even before we met him in this book. And once he fell for Scarlett, I knew he would do anything to keep and protect her.
I’m sure after everything that happened in this book, the next two books will hold a lot of past trauma. I’m not super excited about Leo’s story, though. I love Leo as a character, but from the small glimpse we get, I know it won’t be my favorite trope. ...more

Presley and her relationship with Jeremiah is a big part of the first two books and I never really understood why she stayed with that guy, but reviews said everything would be much clearer after reading this book and knowing more about her past. To be honest, reading this book didn’t help much. I still think she was stupid for being with him and extra stupid for staying with him.
The former Tin Gipsy’s can’t seem to get a break, though. Their former rivals, the Warriors, are laying low for a start but now there’s a film crew in town to make a movie about the murder from book one and with them famous movie star Shawn Valance.
Shaw is mostly done with his life in California and is happy to be away in Montana and as soon as he lays eyes on Presley, he’s smitten. It takes a while for these two to form a bond. Presley’s not happy about the movie and what it will do to her friends.
I liked the story, the stakes didn’t seem as high as they did with the first two books and this was like a breather. The third act drama was a little over the top and that bothered me a little. I would say miscommunication at its best.
The ending gives us a sneak peek on the next book which seems to be more action packed than this one and I’m excited to find out more about Presley’s twin. ...more

I’m here for it. This book is set directly after the events of ‘Steel King’, the first book in the Clifton Forge series. Genevieve barely survived the kidnapping in the first book and is now living in a fake marriage with Isaiah.
I loved these characters as a couple, it takes some time to learn what really happened on the night of the kidnapping and why they decided to get married, but it was so great to see them grow from slightly tolerating each other to a loving and nurturing relationship. I think it would have been better if I had read ‘Tragic’, the third book in the Lark Love series, before picking up this book. Isaiah seems to be a big part of the story and Riven Knight mostly deals with the aftermath of his actions. I’ll still pick it up soon, because I fell in love with Isaiah and want to know more about him and his family.
The mystery behind the murder from the first book continues, even though the main focus is a different plot. We got more of a closure in this book and I liked that, even though my first suspect turned out to be the culprit behind everything.
Overall I liked this book even more than the first book and will definitely continue, even though I’m a little worried about Pres as the FMC. Maybe I just have to power through that one....more

Megan was one of the characters, that I felt bad for the most. She was pregnant when she was taken from earth by the bad aliens and they decided to terminate that pregnancy, while she was on the slaver ship. The experience alone was bad enough, but to experience this great loss had to be so hard on her.
She also feels she has to prove herself worthy to be part of the Tribe and that they only see her as an incubator for babies.
Cashol was a great character. He teased her a lot but also saw her struggles and tried to be there for his mate and make it comfortable and easy for her. He stood up for her and was just wholesome.

Honestly, I don’t know why FMC was with older brother name to begin with. They didn’t have any chemistry, they didn’t have anything in common and they didn’t even seem to like each other. In the past he experienced some bad shit and has seen the worst of what humans are capable of doing to each other. He is angry and jaded to his work. Ana has to be my favorite FMC of the whole series, at least from the three books I already read. I think she’s funny, feisty and a perfect fit for Famine.
This whole story was so much more brutal and gory than the first two books. I know I said this about the previous book as well, but this one surpasses even War, which fitted the plot perfectly. To be honest, I didn’t mind any of the gore, but you should probably check the trigger warnings before going into the book.

The first on my list was ‘The Off Limits Rule’ which has the brothers best friend-trope.
This book is light and fluffy. Lucy has a way of embarrassing herself, but I loved her with Cooper. He brought out the best in her and it was love at first sight for both of them. I realized reading this book that I’m not the biggest fan of book brother’s who think they have a say in who their sister dates, so whenever Drew objected to Lucy and Cooper flirting, I disliked him a little more. He doesn’t even have the greatest reasons and it seems like this is only something to create (unnecessary) drama.
Levi was my favorite thing and I normally don’t like kids in books. But he was cute and happy and I liked him a lot.
The writing is good, even though it’s not as good as in her later works, but this didn’t bother me all too much. It only shows how authors can grow and my expectations were way too high to begin with.
I’ll definitely pick up the second, and last, book in this series next and have more of Sarah Adams books on my TBR. ...more

I didn’t have this series on my radar before, but I’m so glad I do now. ‘Lumberjacked’ not only is a quick read and fun romance, it also has a solid plot and some action going on.
I liked both main characters. Viktor is huge and broody and has a dark past that he thought he left behind. Angela is fierce, sunny but also very stupid. She actually is one of the dumbest heroines I’ve ever encountered. How could she have not suspected why Viktor lives alone in the forest, isolated from the world? When she finds out about his past, she is so shocked. There are many more examples for her stupidity throughout this book and some had me laughing out loud. She was still lovable, but also… really, really dense.
And if you don’t like the miscommunication trope, this isn’t the book for you. A lot of conflict in this book, actually, all conflict between our main couple results through miscommunication. One normal conversation would have prevented almost everything that happened.
Overall this book is not a bad book. I had lots of fun with it. The romance is really good and there are lots of steamy scenes, which I enjoyed. This isn’t the most realistic book, but I think it works. I’m looking forward to the second book in this series and read more about Axel. ...more

So a huge part of the plot, everything related to boxing, the tournament and Snows training, wasn’t something I was super interested in. But I liked how it was used to show his character and determination. But the best about this book was Sasha. She was strong and clever and determined to do anything to help out her father and family. She didn’t sit around waiting for someone to save her, she did what she had to do to survive and protect the ones she loved.

I adore Sophie Larks books; it’s no secret and I enjoyed this book. Sloane was an interesting character; it was fun to watch her weasel her way around Russia as a hitman (or hitwoman in her case). But we only graze the surface when it comes to the characters, we don’t get to really know them, it lacked character development.
Also, the romance was insta-romance. Ivan and Sloane meet, if you can call it that and barely a few days later they are falling in love. Here, too, more substance to the story and everything around it, would have been nice.

But the penultimate book in the ‘Brutal Birthright’ series took me by surprise.
Not that I didn’t think I would love this book, because all the other ones were amazing so far, but Rionas character was so distant, arrogant, and cold that I didn’t think I would love her as much as the others. Turns out I can identify with her much more than with any other character so far. We share a lot of opinions and after learning that she was an Excel-enthusiast, just like me, I loved her even more. Raylan is also very charming, I enjoyed watching him breaking down Rionas walls brick by brick. I liked his family and how loyal he was to everyone he loved.
The plot was exciting and gripping. I did suspect who would be the villain early on, but still I feared for the characters and especially the beginning when the plot kicks in was thrilling. I also liked reading the plot at the ranch and everything about Raylans background.
