Alexander has I've said this before.....I don't care WHAT age a book is written for, if it is good, then it is a GOOD book! and this is one of those! Alexander has another ghost story HIT!
When 12 year old Kara is told by her parents 'you have always lived here.....in this town we live in.' she KNOWS something is wrong. Why is someone telling her to 'come and find me.......here'? In her vision type episodes she has, she is seeing and hearing a girls by the name of Elizabeth talking to her and asking her to come and find out what happened to her almost a decade ago.
Kara and a school friend skip school one day and they decide to take a bus to Elizabeths' town where she lived. Now, they know where she lived because a couple weeks back Kara gets a book delivered to her at and on her front steps......a Dead Girls Diary!
I just got done listening to the audio book, and just like all the others, I will order a physical copy to keep along side the other of his books that I have started collecting! I really do believe that K.R. Alexander could take the reins from my favorite other YA ghost story author.......Mary Downing Hahn. The book was another fun, creepy little ghost story with a great twist ending as always. Highly recommended to ANY age Lover of Horror Books!
My first time reading Ripley.....but will most definitely NOT be the last time! I LOVED this book and the authors writing!
The Boylan House...... Yes, wMy first time reading Ripley.....but will most definitely NOT be the last time! I LOVED this book and the authors writing!
The Boylan House...... Yes, we all have that one haunted house in our neighborhood.....but we do NOT have this one! What lives in the Boylan House at the end of Meeting House Road is something you will never forget! Believe me....stay away from this dwelling; especially if you are a young boy! Yes, this house loves little boys and it has for almost 2 centuries!!
On the night of Halloween 12 year old Mason Philips along with some friends and his cousin dare each other to go knock on the door and say 'trick or treat'. And when Mason goes up to the door with another boy, he witnesses something SO scary and horrible it will change his life forever. There is a trap door above the porch, there are boys bodies all over the inside of this house! What is alive inside the Boylan House!?
This book had some of the most disturbing scenes of HORROR in it that I went to bed thinking about them. Yes, truly I did. The way that Ripley writes, is so realistic, quickly absorbed without all that long and drawn out character back story crap, that you get thrown into the world of this most disturbing haunted house at the end of Meeting House Road and it is quite the read! I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who LOVES a great haunted house and one that is most definitely not like any other that you have read of.
I am already half way through Ripley's book 'The Blood Contract' and OMG I am loving this one too! Is he just going to scare me all over again.
5 SCREAMS Remember: STay AWAY from The Boylan House; especially if is is at the end of October! This is when the Boylan house comes alive!!!...more

Lilly and Jack are newlyweds.....she wants a baby terribly, and he wants a career. When Jack gets a new job that moves them from Chicago to Wisconsin....Lilly just knows that her history of miscarriages and infertility are over. When Lilly falls in love with a huge old mansion she has no idea what is in store for her and her husband. The house; the Lawrence Mansion, is way beyond their price range, but something tells Lilly she MUST live here. They get the house.....and Lilly's spending habits are out of control. When Jack tells her that she must get a job, or they will have to sell the house at a loss and move, she is bound determined to get a job to stay there. But when she thinks something is going on, after she meets some local kids in her neighborhood; Lilly's outlook on life and becoming a Mother change for the worst......is this house haunted?
Lilly gets a job at the local library and when one of her co worker asks her; "You live in the Murder house.......?" she finds out that the house her and Jack are living in was the site of a triple murder/suicide and now she knows that what she thought IS true......Lawrence Mansion is haunted. But what is controlling Lilly?
This book was so well written that I was hooked from the first page......and it just gets better and better. When the book took a change, I could place myself in this story 100% and I knew that I just HAD to find out where Jack and Lilly were going.....and WHAT was this house trying to tell them? I would HIGHLY recommend this ghost story to ANYONE who loves their scares and creeps thrown at them with PERFECTION!!!
TRIGGER WARNINGS: THIS BOOK DEALS WITH THE TRAGIC LOSS OF A CHILD, SUICIDE, MISCARRIAGE AND ABORTION. If these are factors that bother you, you might not like this story.

Normally I would really give Ambrose Ibsen's books a high rating because I really enjoy and love the way he writes a ghost story......however, I really was disappointed with how awful the narration was on this story of a small village that is in the grip of a horrrifying epidemic of some very creepy goings on, and I actually thought that it was possibly done with AI. I would recommend this fairly creepy story to anyone who reads horror......BUT do not make the mistake of listening to the audio. This would be better enjoyed I know if I would have physicallly read the book.
Uh, did the author know all these readers who gave this unoriginal story 5 stars?
What started as what I thought was going to be a really creepy story Uh, did the author know all these readers who gave this unoriginal story 5 stars?
What started as what I thought was going to be a really creepy story about this scary and creepy sounding creature called 'The Eyebiter' turns into the most silly and stupid story about an annoying and dumb 13 year old kid, who I was actually WAITING for the eyebiter to eat and take out of this so un scary story. The first half of the book I really liked, except the two timelines, which I thought ruined this book. Then the stupid and silly storyline about the grandmother character was so predictable it could do nothing BUT have the worst ending. I cannot recommend this book to anyone who is over the age of 14.
I SO, SO, SO wanted to hate this book......I was SO SO wrong! Am I sick to admit that I loved this haunted house story?!!
After trying to complete two I SO, SO, SO wanted to hate this book......I was SO SO wrong! Am I sick to admit that I loved this haunted house story?!!
After trying to complete two of Graham Jones books, and hating them.....I told myself that I would never attempt to read him again. I just was NOT impressed in his writings at all. I am so glad that I decided to listen to this one! This book does for baby sitting in a haunted house what Laurie Strode and John Carpenter did for NON Gore HORROR classic movies!!!
Before I get into this review....I wanted to let you know that this has got to be the more disturbingly GRAPHIC and gory horror that I have read so far this year. And the scenes of gore and disgust in here ( and there are SO many that it just gets grosser and grosser as they are thrown in your face!!) are such in ways that you have NEVER read them ever in a book before. I have been reading horror for over 50 years, and this is probably the most horrific tale of child ghosts, and horror that I have ever read! No joke!
When a sick and disgusting mother decides to graphically murder and torture not one but both of under 6 year old kids in a bathtub of scalding water right at the beginning of this book, you better be ready for what is to come after.
11 years later.....
High school senior Charlotte takes on a babysitting job of a new client....the Wilbanks, and her charge will be a pair of 6 year old twins. What Charlotte has no idea of is the fact of what happened previously in this house. With the next day being BOTH the day of her SAT's AND it will also be Halloween. Will she be able to get both the kids in bed early enough to get some studying in? Before she can pop popcorn, Charlotte has NO idea of what is to come this night before Halloween!!
WARNINGS: **Disgusting scenes of animal beastiality, scenes of torture of a child, and very disturbing scenes of violence. However it worked so well in this book, that will either stop in disgust and shock,.....OR you will eat this up as fast as the pages flip!! HIGHLY recommended to any Haunted House, or Halloween setting horror lovers!!

This was my first outing with this author, and let me tell you; it will NOT be my last! I loved, LOVED this scary and very gruesome and creepy ghost story.
It is 1976 and movie composer Christopher Norton and his wife Laura and their infant daughter Faye, movie into their dream Victorian house in the United Kingdom. Little do they know that what they are up against is something that neither of them could have EVER imagined!!! This is a ghost story unlike any other that you will read.......it is scary, VERY creepy and disturbingly gruesome and with an ending that will either make you squirm, or cry out of being scared. When Laura asks Christopher on the 2nd night, if he saw anything outside the window, she lies and tells him 'it must have been nothing'....but she KNOWS she saw a very scary and creepy looking man in very different style of clothes. As the week goes by she starts seeing and hearing weird noises, and then the voices come, and the disappearance of their little daughter Faye. And did I forget to tell you.......watch out for 'the Magician!'. What starts is the beginning of one of the best 'haunted house/ghost stories' that I have read in a long time. This book was originally published in 2014 and I cannot believe that I had never heard of it or ever read it.
I listened to the audiobook and it was narrated SO WELL, that the narrators voices added so much to this gruesomeness and horror of this story. This book has one of the most disturbingly creepy last pages of a horror story. HIGHLY recommended. I will most defintely look for more by Tallis.
WARNINGs: Extreme and disturbing scenes involving a child.
Wow, I do not know someone who is such a terrible writer has gotten so out of control as being a GREAT NO MORE Coates for me.....ANOTHER snooze fest!
Wow, I do not know someone who is such a terrible writer has gotten so out of control as being a GREAT horror author? Are they reading different books?
This was another perfect example how she has become the 'New Danielle Steele' or Maccomber where she is putting out 5 books a month it seems. This book started out with a story line that I really thought 'this might be the one I like.......' NOT! Once again at 63% the story becomes so horribly narrated that I thought I was listening to a Pre K story of little kids trying to escape the 'Spooky house next door!' I DNF'd now 4 of her books. Would not recommend anything by this author unless maybe you are brand new to reading......sorry. 1.5 Jokes of stupidity...more
This by far is James Markert's BEST writing yet! Gruesomely perfect! Get ready to meet Father Silence......

After reading this author's books; "The Nightmare Man" and "Mister Lullabye" and not really loving either, I was not sure if I wanted to read this newest offering by J.H. Markert......but am I glad I grabbed it as soon as it came available to listen to it!! This book is what would happen if you took Norman Bates from 'Pscho', crossed it with the horror of Pennywise from 'IT' and tossed in some of the horrors of Buffalo Bill, from 'Silence of the Lambs' and this would be the outcome!
Father Silence is one of the most terrifying characters and torturer of kids since John Wayne Gacy. He tortured and murdered 19 kids, however one got away, and he never was able to catch them again before he died. Now that remaining victim is the key character to help find the knock off killer who calls themselves The Outcast! What the hell are you thinking? Wait till you let Markert grab you with the sick and gruesome ways Father Silence would kill, and then he makes you realize there is someone just as sick still killing!! I loved this story of suspense and graphic horror. The reason it did not get a PERFECT 5 scream rating......it was not longer.
With this book being published back in 1995 you would think that it was a new book.....this takes placeNOW this is classic Dean Koontz at his BEST!!!
With this book being published back in 1995 you would think that it was a new book.....this takes place over just a little over a 24 hour period of a young womens life and it is one day you will not soon forget thanks to the riveting, disgusting character in Vess! Chyna Shepherd is about to learn what real, true EVIL is and she is not going to give into it's being. The story takes place in northern California in the San Francisco/Sacramento area and that really was so cool, as this is where I live. As the suspense and gruesome crimes start to unfold, the terrible bad guy just gets worse and worse!
Warning: There is animal abuse that is given by the bad guy, and there are disturbing scenes of serial killings.
If the book had just been a bit longer it would have gotten a perfect 5 star rating! I would recommend this to anyone who LOVES a very well written and very graphically told tale of a SICK and demented serial killer!!

So, if the creep factor of damn ugly bugs such as roaches and spiders are you FEAR....this book is right up your alley. It became kind of silly and stupid for me, but it was like reading an old Saturday Afternoon Monster Flick script.....which was then made into a badly dubbed Creature Feature. I would recommend this to young kids who are just delving into the creepy crawler books like 'Fear Street' or 'Spinetinglers'. Don't watch the movie that they made based on this....it is just the same as this....really dumb.

Now I am an adult horror reader and EVERYTHING in this genre that this lady has written.....I have LOVED!! However I listened to this, this morning and this is why I do not normally care for short fiction of any genre. These stories had been a lot better if they were JUST a tad bit longer. These end SO ABRUPTLY that you are like: "What the hell.....? It was just getting good!"
Now I will highly (and I do in all my reviews of a Mary Downing Hahn book on here....) recommend her work normally, this is that one time where I will not be recommending this one. Sorry kids....and ADULT horror lovers!

I really wanted to LOVE this new darker retelling of the literary children's classic "The Wizard of Oz" started out GREAT.....then what the hell happened?
At 20% the story takes a huge dump right into going nowhere. Why couldn't the author have kept the story of Dorothy's disappearance going.....that WAS the best part. Then it just became a huge letdown.
Sorry, though I wanted to, I cannot recommend this snooze fest.

This is the first MDH book that was not about ghosts, and things that went bump in the night as a kid.
With WWII raging over seas, the families of those young men that had to go to fight for our country and freedom, would learn to see their lives forever changed.....and this is and has to be one of the most understanding of this subject EVER for a kid, teen, or an adult such as I am; to ever read!
Both being in the 6th grade; best friends Margaret and Elizabeth both have brothers fighting against Hitler in WWII, and they are dealing with their own wars right in their hometown and at school.
Gordy Smith has got to be the meanest boy in their school....and he is not afraid to show it by bullying girls! Yes, he is the worst kid in the school.....and he has the meanest and worst abusive father. Mr. Smith.
When Gordy tells Elizabeth and Margaret one day about the 'crazy man in the woods' who ran away from the Secret Govt. experiment right behind their own homes, they knew he was crazy....or was he? Told with the beauty of childhood as ONLY Mary Downing Hahn could do, this was another 5 star listen/read that I have experienced! I listened to it in just one sitting....that is how good, both beautiful and very sad at the same! I grew up in the early 60's and though I remember the Viet Nam war, i could have NEVER lived thru having to go through WWII and having to say 'good-bye, come home soon!' to an older brother. This is a book that I would and will HIGHLY recommend to ANYONE who just loves a GREAT American story. Now, I am going to start the next book in this 3 book series. I LOVED it!
I NEVER thought I would have said that this 'was a let down' of a Jeneva Rose book.

Wow! After having LOVED the last 3 of her books I read, this I was expecting to be just as good.....boy oh, boy was I wrong. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrators were GREAT and then about almost 60% into it, I did something I have never done before....I wrote down who I thought was the killer etc. Thinking I was going to be TOTALLY wrong as I always have been with her books....this one I had figured out 100% correctly. It was still a good thriller, but just not half as fun for me as her others. Would still recommend to those who like her books and let me say, I was glad I did not buy the collector cover copy like I was going to.
If you have heard ANYTHING about this book, ignore what you have heard and just READ IT!! This will be the ultimate suspense thriller with Blake Live If you have heard ANYTHING about this book, ignore what you have heard and just READ IT!! This will be the ultimate suspense thriller with Blake Lively in the main character role! Now, Netflix, how long are we going to have to wait for this to come out! A near PERFECT listen for me!
This was an almost perfect audiobook!! Yes, to think that this was the author's very first book.....I am FLOORED!!! When I was a teen in the 70's there had been a movie that reminded me SO much of this book, that this brought back all those terrifying moments of that movie. Kliewer has got a debut thriller of a book here that will be one that I will read over and over....even though I know how it ends. So what!. It is that good.
When the book starts out and Eve opens her door to the strangest family, who ask her if they can come in for a 'memory tour' that is ONLY going to last 10 to 15 mins......your blood will freeze with you screaming.... "Hell, NO! Do not do this!'
With this being how the book started, it just got better and better for me! If you took the movie 'Burnt Offerings' and crossed it with the classic suspense of Hitchcocks "Rear Window" this would be the outcome! I would HIGHLY recommend this 'Creep fest filled thriller!' to anyone who loves their sleep destroyed!

Freida McFadden is an author that I accidentally discovered a little over a year ago while I was searching for another audiobook to listen to, and am I ever glad that I did; I LOVE this woman's writing and her way of making my skin crawl!!
I first read her book 'The Perfect Son' and I was immediately hooked and blown away by such a messed up thriller/horror novel and by a Woman no doubt!! She hit it out of the park again with 'Ward D' and now this one!
Brooke Sullivan is a single mother of a 10 year old boy and needs to take a job as the newest Nurse Practioner at the Men's Security Prison. What!? Yes, really?. Shane Nelson is one of the prisons most seriously sick inmates as he was found guilty of the gruesome murders in the town some years back, and this is the reason Brooke NEEDS to make sure she succeeds in this position. What is her obsession with Shane, and what is the connection between Shane and her friend Margie? The same Margie that takes care of her son after he comes home from school? I HIGHLY recommend McFaddens writing if you have never read her....and if you have and NOT read this yet; PICK IT UP NOW! I loved this book.....

I had never heard of this author or this book until a couple weeks ago when it came across my Everand audiobooks shelf. I decided that it sounded really fun.....and it was so much fun and such a surprise at the end that I ended up loving it! Now it only took me 4 hours to listen to it, it was so much fun that it actually creeped me out! THEN when I found out that there really are Trapdoor Spiders.....then it creeped me out!
A group of school kids get sent to Saturday detention for doing some mild but mean things to a classmate, and they all have to spend an entire Saturday in detention. Now this is not your regular detention...this is in a school that is rumored to have monsters in it! And, oh, did I tell you that these 'monsters' are SPIDERS!!? This was such a blast....that I can highly recommend this short read/listen to anyone who likes tales of big creepy crawlies and Saturday old sci fi styled movies...this has it all. Can't wait to read another in this Creatures and Teachers series by Killick.

In the town of Fall Hollow, everyone knows who Abigail Snook was.....she is their local child ghost who haunts the Bellwoods. She disappeared on Halloween night years ago.....well, it is Halloween season again, and the 6th grade students are ready to play The Bellwoods Game! The game consists of a game like tag, except it is played on Halloween night, and if someone does NOT ring the bell in the woods before Abigail does, then the town will be terrorized by her this year.
This is the first year that 12 year old Bailee gets to play.....she just HAS to be one of the 3 kids who are luckily (?) picked to play. If so....can she beat Abigail to the bell in the Bellwoods Game?
I had a blast with this book.....it was fun and quick moving, and it had taken me on a little Halloween night game of scary tag with many turns and bends in the trees of the Bellwoods.
This would have been a perfect 5 scream read if it would have had just the littlest bit of gore in it, and if it would have had a better narrator reading the Audiobook....but that did not mean that I would not recommend this to anyone who loves to read about games played on Halloween! Ready to play the Bellwoods Game?
