Intriguing start to the series! I actually did not have a clue what this book was about so even though I've seen quotes from it over the years, I was Intriguing start to the series! Also, everyone says I'll like Warner and hate Adam, but this book definitely did the opposite. Adam is lovely thus far, James is adorable, Juliette is so kind and remarkably tough, and Warner seems decidedly unlikeable with no concept of boundaries right now. Maybe he gets better later, but currently he's awful and Adam is a sweetheart.
Definitely gonna check out the next one when I can! ...more

Both are perfect for dragon and period piece romance lovers!
This was honestly just so wholesome and fun and sweet and I smiled the whole way through. Definitely recommend!

I largely liked Daphne, but a lot of her choices I disagreed with and didn't like or wish had been handled differently, so I did struggle with her at times. But overall I really enjoyed their story and I'm glad Simon was able to move past his traumatic childhood by the end. I also really liked the older Bridgerton brothers in this! Anthony has zero chill and runs at full speed towards protective brotherhood, bless him; Benedict was a hilarious backup man trying to support everyone; and Colin was a good little egg trying his best. The others were so in the background I didn't really get much off them except that their names are ABCDEFGH which is pretty cute.
Not sure if I'll read these in order, but I do want to read more of them! I definitely want to read Eloise and Benedict's books.
SPOILER FOR WHOLE SERIES
No one can convince me Penelope/Lady Whistledown isn't the villain of the series having only seen the show and now read book one. The way she gossips about her family and friends is absolutely inexcusable and I don't get why people like her. Like her publications of Daphne and Simon in this is not okay at all. What the heck.

I know iI really liked Iker, and Langley was definitely sweet, but the way she let everyone walk all over her was frustrating and it just kept going. I know it was an intentional evil stepmother parallel but I just wanted her to tell them to beg off. I liked that Iker immediately clocked it and called it out, too. I did really like the direction her character took towards the end though!
Definitely an enjoyable romance read and I liked all the little Cinderella references. Will check out book two when I can!

She was literally one of the victims and they treated her like she was the killer for the entire book. It was so frustrating! I was glad when she finally stood up for herself but ugh I wish it had happened sooner. I did really like the romance, although he frustrated me a lot at the start.
Very good overall! Definitely going to check out more by the author!...more
