The brothers aren't as close and they don't seem so eager to fair and square share, each more set on staking his own claim to woo her individually.
So their backhanded wooing to claim their "prize" without bothering to bond as brothers together first in her "best" interest just didn't work for me...especially seeing how skittish she was with her messed up past.
Worth a listen, just beware it's not as good as Book 1. ...more
Kidnapped by an alien ship and sold into slavery on a nearly-abandoned planetary settlement, Franny finds herself belonging to thre3.5 'Utopian' Stars
Kidnapped by an alien ship and sold into slavery on a nearly-abandoned planetary settlement, Franny finds herself belonging to three ore miners, Cade, Nebraska and Dawson, who've pooled together everything they had to buy her thinking only about the harsh winter that's just days away from setting in.
It doesn't take long before the men realize their prize is a living, breathing fiery red-head who isn't so hot over the idea of being passed around for their pleasure. At the same time, it isn't long before Franny realizes her survival depends on them. Right about the time other miners start beating at the door making outrageous offers to have them share her.
I don't read much fantasy romance, but I'm expanding my horizons, so to speak. Romance plots can get repetitious and tossing an interplanetary wrench into the gears can shake things up a bit. And I found I REALLY enjoyed this. Sure, I would have loved an Epilogue to know how things turned put, but I suppose I can make something up on my own.
Well written and edited. I liked how peeling away the grime and roughness from the three, lonely miners revealed their true, individualistic selves. This might be short story, but sometimes that's all it takes. *grin*
If I was rating this under Polyamorous/Romance/Fantasy Novellas then I'd rate this closer to a 4.25. (view spoiler)[As mentioned above, only an Epilogue and, for me, personally, maybe loosening up of the 'rigid' sharing schedule (i.e., an actual ménage scene) might have strengthened my rating for this. I only mention this because maintaining three separate relationships obviously added serious strain to the group as a whole. And 'coming together' might lessen that and increase a sense of shared bonding. (See, I'm not a total smut. I'm thinking solely of group dynamics.) *wink* (hide spoiler)]...more

I enjoyed the first book in the series more. This M/FM relationship seemed a tad more forced or maybe the word is work. And I'll go ahead and say it, I didn't care much about the conflict happening in the story. I was most interested in the 'nuts and bolts' and the 'ins and outs' of the relationship between the trio. Ah, well, they all came together in the end. ;) ...more

That said, Erica's Choice is very good and scorching hot! Set in Australia, Griff and Corey are firefighters and great friends but there's something more there that they both deny. Erica is a very prim and pretty schoolteacher who decides one night to just 'go for it' and try to seduce the young and gorgeous Corey. Turns out Corey has been just as keen on Erica. But older, wiser Griff decides someone has to take charge and beats Corey to the punch. Turns out for Erica there might be a two-for-one special on scorching hot firemen.
I loved the shared POV and how we can see inside each one of the characters and understand their individual reasons to avoid giving into something permanent between them. However, it's more of a tortured longing rather than the overly melodramatic angst of other contemporary romances.
Griff, Corey and Erica are three memorable characters that I grew to care about. Theirs is a symbiotic relationship carefully balancing the hard and soft of each other. But, pushed too hard and the triad just might topple. Erica, with so much unexplored sensuality, reveals only her caring heart. She has had to be strong for a very long time. Corey is sweet and caring, but his life has been easy so far. The pair are sticky sweet. Griff, on the other hand, can be fierce. He is a 'take charge' man who expects his orders will be followed. There is a sadness lurking just underneath his 'I don't give a damn' surface, however. He doesn't believe he will ever be chosen as an equal partner. The give and take and the push and pull between trio makes this the best written ménage I've read....more

Also, his step-sis is almost infantile with her insecurity and self-soothing rocking. I just didn't find her mature or attractive. And their parents were kind of icky. Man oh man, I loved my twins. Cam or Chase? I'm leaning towards Chase because he's funny, smart, fiercely loyal and he doesn't mind sharing. For instance, in bed. As for Cam? He's broody, grumpy, and bears his scars both inside and out. This is his story, by the way. Oh, and both my C-boys have mad bedroom skillz. Two for one, you really can't beat that deal.
Anyway, at times this was a tough book to get through. I really enjoyed it, but the writing was so freaking DENSE. It was like a woman packing half her closet for a weekend trip. Ms, Leigh is so good at stuffing each paragraph full of emotion, but nearly every one of them then needed to be unpacked. And I'm telling you I grew weary of it at times. A hefty edit could really help with zero worry of losing any plot or emotion, I imagine.
Another thing, flipping the POV, often between each paragraph, threw me at times. Though, I loved getting into everyone's head. Call me selfish for wanting to know what both Cam AND Chase were thinking, I can take it. As for, Jaci, I mostly liked her, though she could be wishy-washy. Yes, the girl had trouble setting boundaries. Each and every time she drew a line, Cam obliterated that sucker. It was frustrating as hell. But then I tried to put myself in her panties and I knew mine would go poof in Cam's hands.
Speaking of, disappearing undergarments, this was scorching hot. Still, sometimes, I felt like I was reading a narration of three playing a long-ass game of Twister. There were times I was flipping my Kindle around trying to figure out what body part went where. It really threw me out of the scene, unfortunately. 'B+' for effort, though.
Next, I'm backing up in Lora Leigh's Bound Hearts series to read Courtney and Ian's story, Shameless....more

Pretty good. And rates higher because it's not too long. That sounds bad, but I mean it doesn't promise to be more than what it is. A shapeshifter ménage with a suspenseful twist. Oh, and some bondage & spanking thrown in.
Trax is a loner. He goes after bad guys--wolf shifters who turn thug. He's like the law, and he's super controlling and dedicated. He wouldn't have anything to do with women if it wasn't for his Hawaiian shirt and sandals wearing, chill brother, Drake. They share women.as do other members of their pack. It's how they roll.
Along comes, Liz, who has a bone to pick with super thug Couch. The man who raped her mother repeatedly and drove her to commit suicide.
What Liz doesn't know is Couch is a wolf shifter and she just tried to poison him. Now Trax, who has been after Couch for months, must protect her as Couch is after her.
Yep, she's a feisty one and the brothers want her, as in they recognize her as their mate. Maybe it's the wrong time to tell her that. Oh, and they're into control, so they have some training to do.
My gripes:
--Some of the dialogue was just off. I found myself rewording it in my head to make it flow better. Super distracting. --Many times this badly flowing dialogue was during smexy scenes and it kinda ruined them. --The 'play' scenes came off as unnecessarily rough, due to awkward writing. (view spoiler)[--Liz ran hot and cold. Still, she fell in love waaay too easily. Maybe it was just to push the story along. But I felt there were a couple of scenes missing where they all could've bonded. Maybe a stakeout or sharing histories where it NOT sexual. There! That's what I mean. This was 100% sex and not as much emotionally driven. So, I didn't understand how they could call it true love so soon. (hide spoiler)]
Still, I'd recommend it. I'd just finished reading Milly Taiden's Twice the Growl and I couldn't help comparing these two stories. They're both rate the same stars, but TtG had a sense of levity that injected some romance, which was missing here.
(All these 3 star ratings for Shifter Romances seem harsh. However, I want these 3 Stars to signify 'Good/Enjoyed' but don't make it to a 4 Star = Very Good or a 5 Star = Excellent rating.)

Very hot, very fun! That's Twice the hotness and Twice the fun! Theron and Connor are Alpha and Omega leaders of the Wildwoods Pack. The two wolf shifters require a mate to complete their triad and the very human Tilly is that girl. At least that's what their Aunt Gerri, who runs the Paranormal Dating Agency, says.
Theron and Connor embark on a two week 'romance the pants' off of Tilly seduction. That's romance, btw, Tilly actually lost her "pants" right from the start.
Tilly needs a date, not TWO, for her cousins wedding festivities. She desperately wants to save face because her scumbag ex-husband, Paul, will be there. Luckily for Tilly, Gerri has just the date/s for her. And Theron and Connor believe curvy, feisty Tilly is their One.
Ah, young love (x 3). Read on to see what happens.

Even the smut, I fucking hate the words 'crevice' and 'orifice' for lady bits. Yuck! And that Epilogue was pointless. If you want to read a killer Epilogue, check out Kristen Ashley. She's the patron Saintess of the Epilogue.
(view spoiler)[I was missing a moment of deep connection between Ethan and Nathan. Not a kinky one, but one that their dads would pick up and acknowledge as something they too shared.
I think revealing that connection between Ryan and Riley would have been meaningful earlier in the story. Why they shared women, in particular. Had they always done so. Did they always know they'd share a wife. There was a small mention that they needed to be near each other and I was hoping for more.
Another point, several times Ryan stated his possessiveness towards Scarlet and I thought it was a missed opportunity to explore that. More so than focusing on Daniel and his skank girlfriend.
So, writing one book and focusing on what was important the twins, the woman they fell for, a bit o' bondage, their crazy ass mom focused on destroying Scarlet--that's enough for a 200+ page novella! with a twin baby Epilogue. That would have been enough for me. Plus Dual/Trio POV for extra awesomeness. (hide spoiler)]...more

The story is picking up a bit. I wish we had the twins POV. They're crazy, kinky bastards and I'd love to know what they're thinking. They walk this fine line of being loving with Scarlet and being sadistic MOFOs fucking with her head. And Scarlet doesn't really stand a chance. I wish we knew more why they chose her. It's not that this is so bad. Although, upon reflection it IS just that. It's more that a strong edit could make the difference between a competent story and a good one. And speaking of story, breaking this into three itty bitty bits is just silly. Not to mention hitting upon every trite romance trope in the process makes it difficult to take this series very seriously.
Also, there's that fine line between being a Dominant and a complete prick. One thing in particular is name calling, like 'bitch' and 'whore.' Scarlet has repeatedly setup the behavior of being perceived as a pushover, and has done exactly that several times--let herself be pushed over. It obviously has given the twins the wrong message. Subs are not weak. Of course, Scarlet has not really be given the chance to explore her inner 'subness' in a safe way. 'Bad Doms!' I want to shout at Ryan and Riley. How about some communication and respect, ya' bullies!
