The main characters had some Capulet and Montague style family rivalry and the hate for each other to go along with it. Regardless when Reed shows up injured during a blizzard Abbie’s good manners force her to nurse him back to health and they both finally get to know each other despite the prejudice their parents instilled in them. Cute read, nice and wintery with some good Christmas-y vibes....more
It was cute, but if you’re not going to have an epilogue in the book and then you make people pay for a short story collection I’d want more 2.5 stars
It was cute, but if you’re not going to have an epilogue in the book and then you make people pay for a short story collection I’d want more than this haha. It didn’t really answer any lingering questions, but it was a sweet glimpse of them stress free and in love so I liked that. It felt like the perfect time for a heart to heart, apologies, etc. But as usual, things were left unsaid ...more

I also decided to read Teagan Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward are very hit or miss for me and this was a big miss. I didn’t get it at all. It was just bad.
I also decided to read Teagan Hunters short in this and it was better which isn’t saying much. Inoffensive, much better holiday novellas out there though…

This was really cute and wintery, just what I was in the mood for. It’s only out on audiobook right now, but luckily my library has it and it made for an enjoyable, quick listen while doing chores. This was really cute, but took me longer to finish than it should have mostly because I was getting distracted by other audiobooks (normally I don’t read more than one book at a time). Anyway, I love a single mom, the kid was cute, the hitman angle was fun, there was danger and Christmas cheer. A fun little holiday novella....more

This had a lot going on: sunshine(H)/grumpy(h) slash grinch because she doesn’t like Christmas, a bomb expert meets hitman next door, mutual stalking more so on her part with voyeurism, instalove like you would not believe, murder and more murder, a cute niece, cute family members who are also mostly hitmen, Christmas decor, etc.
The humor in this was dry and whacky, but in a way that I like. I read and loved Katie Reus’ dragon series 6+ years ago but have tried other stuff of hers since then that was hit or miss. I’m happy to say this was a fast, easy, fun read with a tiny bit of Christmas sprinkled in and I enjoyed it! Just what I wanted and I’ll definitely be checking out book 2 which released this year and stars the H’s sister and friend from this novella....more

Novellas are hard to get right because you have to squeeze a fully developed story into a shorter page count and this one didn't totally work for me.
I found the set up weird because we're dropped into the story after the characters have been broken up for 2 months and they had only been dating for 3 months before that. *Spoilers* Pre-break up they were essentially living together, he was planning to propose and already bought a ring, but when she broke up with him he didn't go to extreme lengths to really figure out why and she didn't tell him the real reason which she acknowledges later was dumb. So it was very insta-love which I can be on board with, but I didn't believe in their love because we didn't see the build up we were just told how they felt about each other.
I spent the beginning of this book just confused about why they broke up, what the hell was going on, etc. The plot was trying to be very mysterious with hidden enemies, but it was pretty obvious to me who the big bad was.
Idk like I said this was fine for a quick read, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I just picked it up to because a novella was the perfect length to read today before a new release I'd been waiting for came out at midnight
