And there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just not what I was expecting.
The blurb set it up, Cat has been “married” to Logan and Rhys (only Logan officially) for years when they forget their anniversary and cancel on a vacation she’s been looking forward to. Irked and hurt, she decides to continue on alone giving them a SHOCK when they return home to an empty home. The rest is them trying to prove to her that she is their priority.
Bottom Line- Smut heavy—light on feels. I liked it, the only problem was that Cat couldn’t keep her hands off her husbands, so there wasn’t any angst and not really any groveling. I wish she would’ve made them work for it a little bit. I thought the relationship felt balanced. Logan being more alpha with Rhys being gentler. It also seemed like they all get it on at the same time/nights, and no one is sneaking off on the side. I liked that. (MFM-No MM) ...more

April is Asher and November’s daughter. (Until November) In the previous books she’s always described as outspoken, promiscuous, and a lot to handle, so I was curious about her. Unfortunately, she loses all her sass within the first couple chapters, but it wasn’t too bad because she’s not wimpy like May and December. Maxim is Kai and Myla’s son. (Obigation) He was the typical bossy-possessive alpha this author prefers.
This follows the same formula… it’s an insta-lust-love situation with a mystery on the side and the obligatory wannabe OW/OM. This one has a wannabe OM (ex) on the fringes, but he’s not on-page much and causes zero relationship drama.
Bottom Line- This was ok… maybe a bit long for fluff. They get down to business straight away, so there’s plenty of smut… bit IMHO it was a smidge lacking on the drama. I was hoping his occupation/family connections might stir up stuff, but it doesn’t. We spend a good chunk (over ½) of the book with just her POV… I wish it was more balanced. The story spans over many years (like 6-8ish) of the H and h trying to find their HEA while the evil OW continuously jumps out yelling SIKE snatching it away.
This is the second book in the series, based on the reviews this couple played a large part of that book, but (from what I read) it appears to follow the same timeline, so I don’t think you’ll miss anything if you skip it.
The book is told from the h, Becs POV except two bonus chapters at the end of the book from Austin’s. She does give the moron many chances, but she’s not a total doormat and does stick up for herself… and make him work for it. The only bad thing is that we miss any OW interaction/ comeuppance because we're only privy to her side of things.
Bottom Line- This is silly-soapy drama. Nothing resembles real life, so if you’re not in the mood for OTT telenovela level of WTFery… this isn’t for you. If you’re in the mood for something more realistic with another stupid H/BFF scenario, you could try Molly. (that H doesn’t screw his BFF but is equally as blind to her BS) That one is in KU, this one is on scribd.

All these books follow a formula (insta-love/Boom between bossy alpha & virgin w/ some mild wannabe OW drama), and the author only has a couple different mc variations. Jax reminded me of Asher… He had that OTT “you’re my woman and your kid’s my kid so deal with it” thing going on. And Ellie sort of reminded me of Nico’s h… She wasn’t the strongest and had that damaged/wimpy/runner thing going on.
Jax is zapped by his BOOM when he rescues July and Ellie from sex traffickers. (The rescue actually takes place at the end of Until July) This book opens after the rescue with Ellie in the hospital… I didn’t read that book, so the beginning felt a smidge jarring, but I caught up quickly.
Bottom Line- Ok. If you enjoy the series, you’ll probably like this one… you really need to be in the mood for fluff. It took me several chapters to warm to Ellie, and I did find it a bit lacking in the drama-llama department. There are two wannabe OW that are pretty lame and drum up minimal excitement. Listening to books can be pricey, so I’ve been taking advantage of all the audiobooks out there on Scribd… they’ve really stepped up their audio game the last couple years. I’ve been gravitating towards light, shorter, fluffier listens because I really just need easy right now.
Humans sought only two things— power over that which they did not control, and the destruction of what they could not control.
I’ve seen this book around for years… I’m intrigued by alien looking aliens and a sucker for cheesy ass covers… but I never took the plunge. I enjoyed their Spider series, so I decided to give it a shot. This husband/wife duo have a formula… The aliens are alien, the world building is in-depth, the relationship is developed thoroughly, the ones I have read have all been forbidden with slow burns.
The blurb sets this up, Macy loved the sea but has feared it for several years. She goes overboard in a storm and is saved by Jax. Jax is a Kraken, a secret octo/human species. Their relationship starts out as a captive/mistrust situation and slowly transforms to friendship then more.
You are by far the greatest treasure I have ever taken from the sea."
Bottom Line- This is all about developing the relationship… slowly. A human falling in love with a tentacled octo-man is a hard sell, but not only did I become attached to this alien… I found their relationship completely believable and their love authentic. BUT It was slow going and not paced with action or smut… so I wouldn't recommend if you’re in the mood for something riveting.

The book is free to read if you have Scribd and the audiobook is free to listen with audible escapes.
The book opens with Peyton Callaghan escaping to Rock Falls after the event teased in the blurb, then we FFW a couple years later with her getting a tattoo. I’m assuming it was disclosed in the prior books that Peyton has silently mooned over Jayden King for years while he’s worked his way through bimbos. Jayden has some issues from a past relationship (view spoiler)[ dead ex (hide spoiler)], but he’s also smitten and has tried to bury his feelings for P in OW… cuz he’s broken and she deserves better.
Bottom Line- This is a fluff read. The relationship moves quickly, and the reasons each had for not pursuing a relationship sort of disappears without being explored. IMO, the conflict was very obvious, but my biggest grump was Peyton losing her moxie. She starts out really independent and kickass, but quickly switches to an easy-going damsel in a snap. It’s probably closer to a 2-star read, but it was free, and Lucy Rivers/Aiden Snow made the audiobook enjoyable.

This is Sofia and Danilo’s story, and everyone should UGH I didn’t enjoy this, and if I didn’t find a free pdf to read on scribd… I’d have 1 ⭐’ed it. This is Sofia and Danilo’s story, and everyone should know their history because this plot has been revisited numerous times over several books. In a nutshell, Sofia’s sister Serafina was on her way to marry Danilo when she was kidnapped… and fell in love with her kidnapper, Remo. So, her family had Sofia take her place, but she was only 11 (I think he was 23) so they put a pin in it.
If you happened to stumble upon this (since it looks like a standalone) and haven’t been beaten to death with the Fina/Remo show… you might enjoy this…IF you have buckets of patience for immature characters… which leads me to why I found this annoying AF.
This reads like the ramblings of an insecure teenager pining for love rather than a gritty mafia read or even a standard romance. Sofia is one of the most immature h’s I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading. In her defense, she’s a kid for half of the book which is why children do not make great leading ladies in romance. :) Making matters worse, she has very little growth during her 12-to-18-age time jumps, so we’re left with a barely legal heroine thrown into a relationship with a grown man with the maturity of a 12-yr-old. It wasn’t great…. Like at all.
The first part of the book is reexperiencing the Fina/Remo parts from the H and h’s POV. Basically, he’s pissed his man-pride got dented, and banging his way through every blonde he can get his hands on. While she’s obsessing about becoming Fina’s clone because for some reason she thinks EVERYONE is infatuated with the not around/dead to the family sister, and daydreaming about how magical life will be with her Disney prince.
I found this part boring, and not a great foundation for building a romance. Sofia’s parents really let her down… dying her hair to look exactly like her sis should’ve been the wakeup call that the girl needed therapy. And why was she so clueless/unprepared for her future role in the family? I mean, I don’t agree with selling your 11-yr-old off for an arranged marriage… but… if forced into the situation, I’d make sure she had realistic expectations and was prepared to be a mob wife. Sofia doesn’t even know how to cook, and she’s supposed to be keeping house and popping out kids??!! I certainly wouldn’t tell my preteen that it’s a love match and he wanted it.
We FINALLY get to a legal Sophia, and I had hopes things would improve… and we’d get to the romance part, but nope, that gets derailed, and we spend much of the second half stuck again.
MAJOR SPOILERS Sofia has the great idea to force Danilo to see her as a woman, but the author has only equipped her with a tween brain, so she decides to sneak into his Halloween party disguised as a masked slutty blonde reeking of Fina’s perfume. She goes off with him when he asked if she wants to fuck, but then is HORRIFIED that he treated her like the cheap bimbo she was pretending to be. This morphs into chapters and chapters and chapters and chapters of Sofia being bitter about the YEARS he overlooked her and having PTSD reactions to anything romantic (even kissing) between the two… while Danilo wallows in guilt.
There’re two big problems with this subplot. 1- She snuck into his party wearing her slutty outfit with the intent to have sex. She planned and orchestrated the entire thing. Why is she so pissed? It was her idea. 2- She was UNDERAGE when she was being overlooked and ignored. On and on she rants, rages and despairs about how he neglected her; how he wronged her; how he didn’t appreciate her… but she was a child!! I love an empowered female, and Sofia needed to grow up, but give her something to work with instead of just trying to manipulate things… because it boils down to her being upset that he wasn’t mooning over a kid… and that’s common sense… and the fact she couldn’t wrap her brain around this…
“That’s not something you can hold against me. I could hardly have chosen you at the age of eleven because I wanted you. You were a kid in my eyes.”
… shows how immature she is and IMHO ill-equipped to be in a grownup relationship.
Bottom Line- No chemistry, no romance, no mafia stuff left me bored. The PAGES of internal, illogical, teen musings left me annoyed. Danilo was a bit flat, and Sofia lacked the maturity to make this believable. It was unrealistic that a man pushing 30 with underboss responsibilities would put up/or have anything in common with her. He needed a grownup- someone to spice him up. Sofia was sweet with baggage, she belonged in a YA romance where a young stud she met in group therapy could be her man. (hide spoiler)]...more

I picked it up because I heard somewhere that they were all rejected mate books. I’m only rating the one I read.
Unwanted Mate 2-⭐’s The book opens with the H (Bear- a wolf shifter) meeting his fated mate (Mika aka Meek) at a diner. She’s a human and he’s not interested because he already has a girlfriend he plans on mating, Hannah. This shouldn’t be a spoiler because it’s in the blurb… but after he’s a jerk to her, the next scene is a sickly/confused Meek running into Bear’s sister who quickly realizes that Bear “mindwiped” her.
It had a YA/immature feel to it, and the plot felt disjointed/didn’t flow smoothly. This was mostly a result of missing worldbuilding. Basically, we’re thrown in… then stuff happens that is never really explained or super logical. For example, the “mindwipe” comes out of nowhere, we end one scene and then are told that’s what happened without even informing us it was an option. (which is a pretty peculiar ability for a shifter) Later, she needs blood to survive… Why? - because we’re told she does… and it has to be someone related to Bear since he refused. Again odd, but Ok, but then towards the end another is mortally wounded and the character rips open his wrist to feed the individual blood, then another licks it to seal the wound and stop the bleeding. ...more

I didn’t notice all the negative reviews until after I started, but I only have one literary hard limit (killing the dog), so I stuck with it. This genre isn’t for everyone because someone has to fuck up the first chance to get to the second… so I rarely recommend a second-chance romance for readers that are strict with safety or prefer the swoony/perfect variety of romance most us of strive for in RL. But… if you’re like me and read to experience drama, angst, heartache, cheating, crime, red rooms, super-powers, stalkers, etc. by peeping on some pretend person’s messy life from the comfort of your stable relationship/life… you might enjoy this type of read.
I didn’t find the actual “catalyst” that terrible, but I’m pretty loosey-goosey with book relationships. I do have one complaint or plea though… can we please stop making these h’s celibate during the separations??!! I applaud the author for not having the H do the outdated obligatory matrimony, but she let Darby down BIGTIME by keeping her lady garden untended for 12 FREAKING YEARS!!
I debated whether or not to do this, but I feel like fence sitters might be conflicted on whether this is something they can tolerate or not… so, I’m spoilering the “catalyst” because I don’t think it’s a big secret and is revealed fairly early on.
(view spoiler)[ Darby and Pierce were in a relationship for a few years (h 17-21) when an unexpectant pregnancy followed by a miscarriage caused her to have a bit of a breakdown. She picked a fight (her words) so he’d dump her and left town (for a very good reason). He went to her house to apologize but was told she moved to Charlotte. Heartbroken and angry (his words) he didn’t go after her and started drinking/drugging. Her frenemy swooped in under the guise of friendship, got him wasted one night and they had sex/pregnant. She repeated this process a year or so later when she found him drunk at a bar and followed him to the bathroom. Those 2 encounters are the only time they were intimate (total-3Xsex & BJ) and he used condoms, (it’s implied she tampered with them) no kissing, no feelings, never tried for a relationship. They lived in separate apartments in the same complex co-parenting. Also, I believe (too lazy to double check) that this occurred (drunken sex) 12-14ish weeks of the h leaving.
I didn’t think it was god-awful that he had drunken sex months after he was left to believe she abandoned him (his truth) or that he had sex (with chicks out of town on bachelor weekends w/ his bro) during the separation. What I found mind boggling is that she never got laid even casually over the separation.

We know from the blurb and a quick flashback that Sage and Dawson met on the rodeo circuit and had a short friends-to-lovers relationship that ended when their romp was interrupted by his wife. The book opens five years later with Dawson returning to town.
My biggest gripe is that the majority of the plot was dedicated to introducing family members, towns people, future H & h’s and all their sideplots rather than focusing on Dawson and Sage. There is so much filler!! Dani, Callan, Chelsea, Jen, Eliza, Jasper, Mattie, Wes, Colton, Hawksley, Jamie, Scott… the secondary characters are endless. There’s also a plethora of subplots… cheating parents, serial marrying mom, left at the altar, absentee husband… on and on. The mc’s don’t even have an actual conversation until halfway through the novella… up to then she’s blowing him off.
Bottom Line- The second-chance scenario sounded good on paper, but this isn’t a romance. It’s an introduction prequel with a few scenes thrown in. Dawson and Sage spend very little time together, there’s no real development. He pursues-she denies… until he backs off then suddenly for no explained reason, she’s suddenly all in. They have one half-assed conversation where their feelings are just assumed, and we’re told they’re heading to HEA-ville. The end. ...more

The book opens with the repeat of the prior epilogue, Alba returns from school with a secret baby bump.
Then we immediately backtrack seven months and slowly work our way back to the present. I hate this setup, but it was even more painful because they are separated, and a good chunk is Alba at college doing crap that I didn’t care about. It takes 50% to get back on track, so it felt like half the book is filler.
I once again struggled with the writing. It’s hard to explain, but it doesn’t flow naturally. I couldn’t get swept up and was constantly aware I was reading. Logan felt WAY too jaded and overdramatic for a 25-yr-old MC Club vice-president. His pity party in the first chapter felt contrived and unrealistic.
Today is just another reminder of just how fucked up life is. It's also the only day I allow my old habits to seep in.
Fifteen years ago, on my tenth birthday, was the first of many losses in my life.
His many loses are… losing his mom (but gaining a great support system from his uncle and club), losing his aunt, and his HS girlfriend. I get it… that sucks, but he’s a badass biker dude sitting around feeling sorry for himself YEARS later.
Things aren’t great for Bella either. She’s got a dead dad, a deadbeat stepfather, and a spineless/doormatty mother that makes her help support the deadbeat and raise her little sister… and everyone seems to want in her pants.
I struggled with the writing. Their backstories were delivered via info dumps. There were inconsistencies, like her and her sis being only a year apart, then several years later in the book. And it drove me batshit that she used Spanish words to spice stuff up show us the character was Hispanic/Latino but translated it directly after… EVERY time the word was used. puta, bitch; Mierda, Shit; Qué, What; again and again. These were not difficult/rare Spanish words, and I bet most readers didn’t need the translation, but no one needs to be told 6 times that puta means bitch.
Bottom Line- This was work to finish, but I am intrigued by Gabriel, so I will give his book a shot.
Safety- The H is with a club-girl before he meets the h. The sex was off-page and safe after that.
There’s a fair amount of slut shaming going on. (h’s are virgins) I LOVE hating the wannabe OW and have no problems with her being a giant slutbag (SB)… but this giant SB was only a SB because she was a club girl. It was black and white… the females were either good girls or SB’s and treated accordingly. The good girls get rescued and respected, but the SB’s get…
