The romance in this book? Exceptional. I loved it. The King of Attolia thrilled me and was definitely the best book in the series. I loved everything in this book, from the political intrigue to the romance and swordplay and trickery. Thanks MWT!...more

added to that i officially am the #1 shipper of Meg and Calvin. he's honestly the greatest guy ever and i love him, even if he's like 12 or something. also Charles Wallace is hilarious, i loved him too.
and most importantly, i have found a new reason to live - Aunt Beast. she singlehandedly took the cake as the greatest character - ever. as in ever. like all the books i've read. i fell in love with Aunt Beast, and i fell HARD. i don't care if we barely got any time with her, i still love her with all my heart. i feel like continuing this series just in case there's another glimpse of Aunt Beast, my one true love.
bless everyone who answered my poll and told me to read this stunning book, i will never regret it. and bless Madeleine L'Engle for inventing Aunt Beast and all the rest....more

that ENDING. the PLOT TWISTS. HOW AM I STILL BREATHING (joking, we all know i'm not breathing).
what just happened?!?!?!
first thing's first: i love OreSeur (view spoiler)[ aka TenSoon, i'll call him OreSeur in this review to avoid spoilers (hide spoiler)] with all my heart. he is my reason to live, and he is the number 1 reason that i am reading book 3, because i've heard he reappears and i'm SO excited.
second thing: i love Vin almost as much as i love OreSeur. she's a queen, a badass, powerful, unstoppable, precious queen. (view spoiler)[ hence my ABSOLUTE FURY at elend becoming a more powerful mistborn than her. i'm triggered. (hide spoiler)] honestly, i love Vin, and i love her POV in the book the most.
thirdly: everyone else! Spook and Ham, Clubs and Breeze, Sazed and Tindwyl, Elend and Zane. honestly i love Clubs, Sazed and Tindwyl (view spoiler)[ rip to two of those wonderful characters (hide spoiler)] but everyone else is just kinda meh. i mean i like them all (except Zane) but they're not that important to me. i guess my love for OreSeur and Vin overtakes any love for anyone else hehe.
and then the plotline..... a little slowpaced in some sections, but the ending was incredibly addictive and, as always, i love the world-building and the fantasy (metals etc.). and the plot twists! they're a Sanderson special and they ALWAYS manage to astound me! honestly i even got a little creeped out by one of the plot twists in this, it was that disturbing and shocking.

Another brilliant Kelley Armstrong series that will be re-read, and re-read, and re-read, and then finally memorised (except not by me, because my long-term... and short-term... and just memory, overall, is not the greatest).
Also, some diabetes rep? Love it. There are a lot of books with teens on the run, but not many books involving those teenagers worrying about insulin shots and sugar intake and the like while running. Go Kelley Armstrong!...more

my 12yo self definitely did not understand the deep, powerful, underlying messages in this book - but i still enjoyed it a hell of a lot, and still enjoy rereads to this day. maybe that shows that it's a book for all audiences - even the young end of the ya readers.
this is just such a unique book - and i truly love that suzanne collins wrote this series, blew up the world, and then disappeared without any fuss or bother. katniss and peeta's story is so important in many different ways, and i truly just believe that this is a necessary book for all people to read.
apart from the overall demonstration of humanity at its best and worst and the powerful political messages, this series is honestly just really well-written and entertaining to read. it pulls you in and you fall in love with the characters and plot twists and all those necessities of a good book. highly recommended!...more

this book. THIS BOOK. i will admit, it started off kinda slowly, but wow, every book feels slow after the intense af ending to book #2. but lord, Sanderson knows how to write a book. he really, really does.
this book may have trundled along for a bit, but once it got going, IT GOT GOING. full of plot-twists, confusion, death, love and sacrifices, The Hero of Ages is definitely a book for the ages, and one that i won't be forgetting for quite a while.

Between Shades of Gray is a gorgeous book about a girl called Lina trying to survive a POW camp, separated from her family and all she knows, as so many people were in the war. The hardship that everyone at the camp faces, and beauty in which they stay strong, is so touching to read about.
This novel touched my soul and repeatedly brought tears to my eyes - I badly need a reread, because these characters meant so much to me when I first read the book! Sepetys is a gorgeous writer, and her books draw you into a heartbreaking world quicker than you can imagine, until suddenly you're beyond invested. Such a powerful read! Highly recommended....more

Half-Blood is one of the best fantasy-romance books out there. edit 19/4/2023:(the italics, bold brackets are my response to my 2019 review).
Half-Blood is one of the best fantasy-romance books out there. (is it really? no probably not, but it seemed that way when i was 13. honestly though, this is a really fun series.) Jennifer L Armentrout is one of my favourite authors and I've read most of her books, (so not true now whoops) but the Covenant series is what started me on the thrilling ride that is JLA's books. (true).
(if you notice this next part being the exact same as my review of the last book in this series then look away). this series is so precious to me! it's one of the first series that got me into ya fantasy and really fantasy as a whole, and also fully introduced me to the reading scene. like many of my favourites from when i was 13, it's not the most high quality series in the world, and it's a little (lot) cliche, but hey, that's all i wanted when i was 13! and now i'm just so attached to the characters that i can reread this for fun and pretend it's not vaguely trashy.
this series will always have a special place in my heart, and i'll never forget these characters. such an addictive and entertaining - yet still vaguely emotional - series! i do recommend for those trashy-book-addiction vibes, especially for ya lovers.

Even though it may be the most Team Seth focused book out of the series, it’s still another hilarious, crazy entertaining book of JLA’s. Plus there's enough Aiden to keep it interesting! Heaps of fun :)....more

She’s blown me away and she’s also blown my heart out and forced tears from my eyes. The Song of Achilles is another beautifully written and utterly heartbreaking story of Greek myths and their tragic ways, but with a twist of romance and nothing to do with heels - Achilles’ or other. The characters in this book bring tears to my eyes just thinking about them, and Briseis? She’s the whole world to me. Same goes for the sweet and loyal boy called Patroclus that becomes a man called Patroclus, always supporting Achilles throughout the many issues he has. The ending to this book was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read. Miller’s writing is angelic and captivating, and if I ever brought writing of this quality to school, then my English teacher would probably weep and crown me as Shakespeare reborn. Bless everyone who has any small part in making me read this. ...more
