This was cute but I just felt like it was missing something? (It was really missing chemistry between the main characters, I knew the romance was coming and it still fell flat.) Also, I was so confused as to how the mmc's hood stayed on for so long?? How could she not see his face in broad daylight but he could still see everything? And she could also see his chin and mouth?? The logic makes no sense there, but maybe I'm just struggling to imagine it. Also, I thought that (view spoiler)[ the main character was going to have magic and I was totally wrong lol. (hide spoiler)] I feel bad rating this just three stars because I'm pretty sure it's a debut novel, so there's lots of room to grow. And I also love pirate novels (so much I have a 'pirates' shelf), so gold star there haha. It was very predictable but if you're okay with that, it's a decent book. The cover is also gorgeous. I'm sorry for this very trash review, it's 10 PM, I had a final today, and my brain feels like it's melting. ...more

We just jumped into this story, it felt like it could happen anywhere. We focused on the characters and what was happening, not really on anything else. I also loved the multiple POVs and time jumps, it made the story flow really well. The psyche of all of the characters was incredibly well written. I loved the 'cracks' that Victor and Eli had. They were clearly disturbed individuals and then becoming EOs made them worse. Both of them were sociopaths in my opinion and their transformation was insane. This idea that 'something' was missing from the EOs was really interesting. This book was just really cool and I would really recommend it! ...more

Dare I say that EH books are my comfort books?? This is my second-favorite EH book, after People We Meet On Vacation, because no one is touching Poppy and Alex. This story was so gorgeous and wonderful. I loved the old lady's story and I loved the MCs as well. 10/10 would recommend. The twists in the story had me ON THE FLOOR. This was such an incredible story. ...more
I love how many authors are writing clean college romance now! (As a college freshman, I appreciate it!) Reading about 16 year olds dating is startingI love how many authors are writing clean college romance now! (As a college freshman, I appreciate it!) Reading about 16 year olds dating is starting to freak me out. (Like honey, you are just learning how to drive. WHY are you dating someone??? Someone please call CPS) I liked this, I didn't love it. I liked the mental health side that was shown and the nuance of college relationships and friendships. (At one point, I was a little nostalgic for college, as I read this book in my college dorm room lol) I didn't feel like the main characters had a ton of chemistry but I guess that's okay. Their separate stories were interesting. One thing that these stories never focus on is classes. Like, all I do is eat and go to class. There was plenty of focus on eating but nothing on class, which was shocking. It's my whole life, dude. I also loved the focus on running, as it is also a part of my life here on campus (usually (*cries in calf injury*)) Maybe I should go back and read the cooking one? I dnf'ed it but this was okay, so I might give it another shot....more
I really liked this but I was more invested in Ashlyn and Tor than Kiva and Jaren. (Give me an Ashlyn and Tor story, pleaseeeeeee) Also, I love Crista.
