Several characters from the previous series appeared, so if I’d read it that might have helped. I'll likely continue with the series, though I wouldn’t say the anticipation is high. Anytime you see me rate a Contemporary Romance please take it with a grain of salt because almost every time I read one I’m reminded that ContemporaryAnytime you see me rate a Contemporary Romance please take it with a grain of salt because almost every time I read one I’m reminded that Contemporary Romances simply aren’t for me. Somehow they almost always feel too long, the conflict contrived, and they incorporate modern slang and references in a way that will only make the book feel dated in a few years.
The most moving and interesting part of this story was Rosemary and Logan's relationships with their mentor, Joe, and the novel’s poignant exploration of their grief and his own reflections on his life as they journey across the country. Despite being sapphic, the romance didn’t particularly move me, but I appreciated the work the author put into the character arcs....more
