Well, this concludes my first read of 2024 and it's safe to say that this book did NOT meet my expectations.
Now, if you look at the synopsis of the book, it's batshit crazy and interesting. A psychopath on the loose traveling in parallel universes murdering the same women again and again while a reporter gets caught up in the whole act and ultimately decides to stop him. NOW THAT SOUNDS FREAKING INTERESTING!
Don't get me wrong though, I LOVED so many aspects of this book. While I appreciated the captivating writing style and chilling scenes, I was disappointed by the plot and the ending.
“To me, though, there’s nothing particularly difficult to understand about a man who murders what he loves, and blames her for it.”
• When the way the story is written is so damn captivating, you expect the plot to be amazing too. But the book lacked in that department. So many plotlines could have been explored but weren't. You could see the characters and their inner turmoil throughout the story, which indeed made the characters feel more real and human but by the end, it felt like those insecurities, those emotions weren't resolved and just rushed to completion.
I was pretty shocked by the ending being too damn anticlimactic. On paper, the ending would have seemed apt and maybe it truly was but the execution made it seem too simple. The way you read the whole book to reach the end and wait for it to blow your mind or at least leave you satisfied...this book failed to do either of those for me.
I would like to point out that in no way this is a BAD book, this just failed to meet my expectations.
• Talking about the characters, Felicity, Clay, Maddie, and Hugo-they were written with care and you can see it throughout the story. The buildup of these characters was truly amazing but as I said, it is a shame that their stories felt rushed towards the end. I wish the author would have taken time with the ending and with these characters.
All in all, if you wish to read a fast-paced book that can keep you on your toes, I will recommend this (just don't go in with expectations as I did maybe?)...more

AHHH THIS BOOK WAS 4.25★
“You suck, Meatball," he called out a second before I knew the music was about to start. But I love you, his lips formed.”
AHHH THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD! I literally only have good things to say about this except the 152 times the characters blinked in 67 different ways which irritated the shit outta me...ANYWAYS.
Enemies to friends to lovers ✓ Slow burn ✓ Hot male lead ✓ Sassy female lead ✓ No stupid conflicts ✓ My ice skating fantasies getting fulfilled ✓ WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT!

This was actually a delightful surprise for me, when I started this book I thought I'd end up in a slump because of its super LONG chapters but then I turned off the page numbers in my ebook and flew through the book! *so pro tip: if you feel like the chapters are long, just turn off the chapter details (works only in ebooks ofc)*
The female main character Jasmine is one of the most relatable MCs I have ever read about! Her annoyance at teenagers, her hate for the world and people in general, her sass, her badassness...I relate! She does not irritate you and when she does it's actually cute! The only thing I actually want from a protagonist in a contemporary novel is to not be stupid and irritating, I'll handle the rest and Jasmine in no way is any of those things. We stan jasmine for better life!
“Assault was against the law. But was it extra illegal to hit a teenager?”
And don't even get me started on Ivan! ARGHHH I LOVE THAT STUPID SMOL GRUMPY BEAN!
This book also has the slowest slow-burn romances I have EVER read but everything that occurred throughout the book had perfect timing to it. Nothing felt too fast or too slow. The chemistry between the main leads was INCREDIBLE *stars in my eyes**hearts in my eyes**fucking galaxies in my eyes*.
And this book at last completed my fantasy of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir getting together (if you know you know!)
“I love you so much, if I can’t skate with you, I don’t want to skate with anyone else.”
2.5/2.75? let's keep my review short because the books makes up for it with extra 200 pages in it :D

It was a pretty good start and if I conclude my views on the WHOLE book—it was a nice read. But as I predicted...I got bored after like 75% of the book. It was good but then it became unnecesaarily long and draggy. And I am not gonna admit I skimmed through the last 3 chapters.
The last chapters seemed too long I seriously wanted to skip them. And I usually don't have any problem with massive worldbuilding in fantasy books but long contemporary romances...*sighs* they get to me. So I loved the characters seriously! Rose—she is a badass woman but man I was tired and that ruined my enjoyment level.
Not to mention the repetitiveness*sighs again*, I never thought I would skip a whole chapter of sexy scenes because I was seriously so boring nothing piqued my interest. I mean who skips smut these days lol....more
