my very first mystery/thriller book and definitely won’t be the last !!
i’m a romance girlie, but recently i’m not in the mood for cute&sweet romances (blame Long Way Down by KBR for this lol), and i thought a mystery/thriller book could help and honestly it really DID.
this book was amazing and very well-written. it had my attention from the first page, and kept me guessing all the way ‘til the end. like, who the hell kidnapped ava ? what was the relation of this kidnapping to Harper ? and then i found out kidnapper was also someone i didn’t expect before. everything was just good and unpredictable. i loved all the characters, especially our main heroine, Harper. oh wait, i think i was a bit attracted to James freakin Malcolm

this was my first book of Tarah Dewitt’s and it definitely won’t be the last.
there’s something about small town romances that pulled my attention right away from the first page until the end.
this was so comforting to read and i enjoyed every moment of it!!!
our fmc, Sage was the kind of character that i could relate to the most : she said yes too easily, she adopted discarded pets, she found happiness in the smallest things in life.. ugh it’s just impossible not to adore her. our mmc Fisher, was such a sweet character who gave not only Sage, but also me ALL the butterflies. he’s a wonderful man who appreciated her positivity and supported Sage in everything she did. these two fit so perfectly together and I LOVED THEM SO MUCH.
i was also mesmerized by the beautiful setting of this book that it felt like i wanna live FOREVER inside it.
overall this was such a heartwarming book that i think everyone needs to read ...more

this book was such a surprise ! i'm still new to romance fantasy world. so when I picked up this book, i didn’t know what to expect. so imagine my delight when i found that it had a great world building and unique magical abilities and creatures.
and while the amazing world building was what lured me in, i just couldn't get captivated by the whole story. the plot was good, but the romance aspect?? no. they fell in love too instantly and i hated it. also, i felt like some parts of the end were a little rushed. but overall, this was still an enjoyable read....more

secondly, i am truly sorry for my late review.. life has been quite busy recently and i didn’t have that much time to read.
listen, i love dark romances. i really do. and i have been hearing and seeing the hype about this series, so i really had high expectations but i'm sorry to say i was a bit disappointed..
this story started off with a lot of promise for me. i actually liked the concept. the writing style was also good. however, there were some parts that i found were too disturbing to be hot for me...and i feel like the author kind of lacked in details for the romance aspect. the relationship between main characters was based on physical attraction only and there was no emotionally bonding and it just pissed me off.
overall, this was an okay book to me. not as good as i expected but there were some parts that i really enjoyed. so yeah, i would still recommend it to anyone who can handle the dark elements/triggers. do not go in blind....more

a very well written book with lots of magic, witches, mystery vibes and smoking hot scenes you’ll definitely need in this spooky season.
once i started, i couldn’t put it down. i was fully invested in the story. the main characters were great, and i really enjoyed the relationship between Oakley and these 3 men.
tbh, i was not a big fan of Atlas in the first book. but after reading his pov here, i loved him...more

this book had EVERYTHING i wanted in romance books — amazing tropes, adorable characters, beautiful writing, cozy setting, fluffy but also spicy scenes i never expected before. i loved everything.

this book was easy and quick to read, that’s for sure. i also appreciated how unique the setting was. i’ve always been interested in archaeology, so this one really intrigued me. the romance between two main characters was also cute. and the spicy scenes were *chef’s kiss*
but on the other hand i didn’t like how everything happened so quickly. it was a bit of instalove for me. and i think it would have been better if it wasn’t told from just her POV. i needed to know Dr. Campbell’s perspective as well.
but overall, i had such a fun time reading this book. i definitely enjoyed it. especially those spicy scenes ...more
