York is a bit of a brainbox when it comes to software, and his latest project now puts a target on his back. Ex Marine Quillon is tasked with keeping him safe. Moving in together to explain the bodyguard brings them close, but York is straight, and Quillon is working. Lines are blurred and York's life is at stake.
I liked this, I liked this A LOT.
It's got drama and danger, which, admittedly, was a bit of a back seat to the budding relationship between York and Quillon. It's got steam, cos once Quillon gets with the programme, the man is ALL in. Some lighter moments too, to break the tension.
It is, though, quite high angst. York is dealing with a lot of childhood trauma, revolving his older brother and their parents.
I liked that both Quillon and York have a say, in the first person. I loved that Quillon SAW York, really saw the man. He let him loose and York ran with it. Talking to and argueing with Quillon becomes the life line York needs.
I loved that York, while nerdy and geeky, was NOT adverse to using that knowledge to his advantage, case in point, getting free from his kidnappers, and blindsiding them with waffly maths speak, while not actually giving anything away!
I loved the supporting cast in Forestville, and at some point I will go back and read the other books, to get their stories.

This is book 4 in the Blood Bonded Mates series, but I think it can be read as s stand alone book. We met Michael and Danny in book 3 though. All three previous couples pop up at some point, but mostly Tobias and Bryan help Danny and Michael.
I gave 4 stars to book 1, 5 stars to boks 2 and 3, and this one is on a par with book 1, I think.
Michael and Danny are hunters, hunting the vampires who are killing people. Both have previous dealings with the bad guys, and this is their way of doing good. But meeting Bryan and Tobias, thinks begin to change for them, not least when one admits he loves the other. Then something happens, and both men are faced with the awful truth- they cannot without the other, even if one of them is the very thing they have been killing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this instalment of these vampires and their mates, although I wasn't sure about Danny and Michael in the beginning. Their ...connection... was a a little off. I did feel a bit disconnected to them as well.
However, once things move along, and yes, I'm being deliberately vague here, I found it a much better read. I know some peeps will love this books, but for me, it doesn't quite match to Married or Protecting, I'm afraid.
It's bloody, as these recently turned vampires tend to be. And there is on page deaths of these vampires by Michael and Danny. It's needed, I think. These two do have history and their pain comes out at those points.
The steam level is low, though. I liked that. These two have loved each other for a long time, even if they didn't admit it til recently, and this book is about doing what you must, for the one person who you cannot live without. I liked that, I really did.
I'm not sure if we met Thierry before, I forget, but that vampire has a story to tell, and he isn't as emotionaless as he portrays humself to be. I look forward to getting into HIS head soon.

This is book 2 in the Lunetti Pack series, and you really SHOULD read book one, His Mate By Vengeance, before this one. There is much that happens in that book that you need for this one. And Vin and his Angel play a big part here too, so it helps to know their story. There is also a little overlap in the timeline.
I really enjoyed book one, but I LOVED this one!
While Vin and Angelo get down and dirty quickly, it takes time for Luca and Cal to give in to the growing attraction and feelings. Neither wanted to be holed up, but someone is trying to kill Luca and Cal needs to keep his boy safe.
And that, peeps, is what I loved best. Cal saw Luca as HIS a long time before he admitted it to himself, let alone Luca. Luca kept telling Cal, "Not a boy" but he only had to ask Cal to stop, and he would have. The power balance for these two was perfect, and I loved how it just developed as it went along.
I loved the descriptions of Cal's magic and what he could do with it! He used to soothe Luca, and to tease him. He used it to keep Luca safe and to kill. Again, some violence is on page, and some graphic, but it's needed I think.
I didn't see who the betrayer was, until it was revealed in the book, so well played! I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book, given what happens at the end of this one!
There are a couple of shorts to this series, I might see if I can find time to read them.

This is part of the Tales From The Tarot series. It can be read as a stand-alone in that series. It also ties in with the book by Adams in The Possessive Love series, The Demon Undertaker. Mal and Jason pop up here and it was great to catch up with them.
Austin and his friends plan to clear up in 3 casinos and then be done. Something goes wrong at the third casina and Austin finds himself at the hands of Dante, the devil. But Austin is something other than human, and Dante finds himself face to face with his fated mate, the one who will stop him burning the entire Earth to dust.
I've only read one other of the Tarot series, and I loved that, when Austin enters the shop, it is almost word for word described as it was in that book. It was such a treat. Sometimes, in multi author series, things get lost or mixed up, but that shop is exactly the same in each book.
I loved that this took a path I wasn't expecting. I didn't see it going the way it did and I loved being surprised by it!
Both Dante and Austin fight the bond between them, but once they are clear about a few things, they are all in. I loved that Austin's parentage was not what he thought.
I loved all the little digs from Dante about God. They did make for a few lighter moments in this book. Because there are some very dark moments here. Dante is vicious and he makes no bones about that. Austin and his friends tried to rob him, and he takes no prisoners (Austin is the exception!)
Along with the dark, comes the smexy times, which are hawt, like the devil is!
There are others here, who piqued my interest and I hope they pop up in future books.

Hector's blind date goes wrong, and then he finds himself running for his life with a bleeding stranger in tow.
I liked that this book jumps straight into what is going on with Callum, and that Hector gets pulled in. I wasn't sure it was going to work for me, but it holds up well through the book, that start. It's sort of sets the pace for the book.
I did feel though, at times, that the pace was WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too quick. I found myself struggling to keep up, things were happening so fast. But it's a relatively short book, 195 pages, and you can only get so much on the page count. I would have just liked a bit of a let up from everything, really. Just to catch my breath!
I would have liked some more of the suspense that is tagged with the book. There is, I felt, none. We know, right from the start, who is doing what they are doing to Callum and Hector.
But there is lots of the passion the book is tagged with, and I liked that the attraction and connection between these two men is powerful and almost instant, but it never ever wavers, not even when they are both faced with such a situation they find themselves in.
Only Hector gets a say though. And really this is the only reason I rounded my 3.5 stars down, rather than up.

This is book 1 in the Love In Mission City series, but I am reading it AFTER book 3. SO I have spoilers for this book in that book. It did not detract from my enjoyment of this book, though. I will get to read book 2 asap.
Maddox doesn't like Christmas, but a friend asks a favour and he's left with the most gorgeous man he ever saw. Ravi just needs a place to stay til tomorrow to get the plane home to see his god daughter. But Mother Nature has other ideas and the few days they have snowed in make the world of difference to both man. But they live a continent apart, this was only supposed to be fleeting.
I really enjoyed this. Maddox is grumpy and Ravi is a match for that but not as a grump. Ravi is fighting a good deal with himself and his past, and his pain is not immediately clear. I liked that, as I did in book 3, one character's pain is front and centre, but it takes time for the other's to become clear.
The whole book takes place over a couple of days, and the connection between Maddox and Ravi is instant and powerful.
Now I need to read book 2, Stanley's Christmas Redemption. Stanley is Maddox' ex, and he gets a bum wrap here. I have a feeling that there is more to his story than Maddox says.

This book is the very definition of a slow build romance! I mean, for 12 years, Kerric is made to stand guard over the castle, waiting for a true heir to come back to the castle, if they ever do.
Eron was whisked away, while the rest of his family is killed. 12 years is a long time, but he has grown to a young man who can hold his own. Finding out he is the true heir, was a shock. That his life up to now has been part of a long LONG game plan, another shock. Finding out Kerric is the gargoyle on the castle, another! But things have a way of sorting themselves out, and reuniting with his sister was the best thing.
There is a long plan in this book. Eron's life after he leaves the castle is all but to teach him how to be a king, but in ways he didn't realise. I loved how THAT little bit played out, and how that changes things for both Eron and his sister.
The world building is dark and deadly. There is much betrayal and back stabbing here, and it did take me a bit to keep up. NOT because of the book, my brain is fried with a ton of other stuff right now.
I apologise for the late and short review, but I really did enjoy this.

This is book 2 in the Divergent Omegaverse series, but you don't need to have read book 1, Alpha's Divergent Omega to follow this one. That is more of a short introduction into this group of men, and how things work in their world. You should though, cos it's short and steamy and packs a punch!
Taylin has worked with Hollis for 5 years. He wants Hollis but Hollis has made no indication that Taylin's want is reciprocated. When a meeting away coincides with Hollis' heat, that all changes. Taylin is considered divergent, and Hollis is not, since he can shift into his animal form, and Taylin cannot. Would Hollis really want Taylin?
What I loved about this, was that once Hollis set his sights onto Taylin, like PROPERLY, Taylin really didn't see it coming, and he was just a little bit blindsided by Hollis and this meeting away. Had he been paying more attention, he would have known it was Hollis' heat but he was too busy oogling Hollis!
These guys have wanted each other for so long, and once they get with the programme, they are all in and I loved that! Steamy and emotional, for me, a perfect combination!
I loved that all the boys of Lane and Derick have been instilled with the beliefs and views of their parents, both those born into the family and those who were bought into it for whatever reason. When they discover the omegas being mistreated in the factory, they ALL jump in, to set them free.
I loved that Taylin's brothers were ribbing him about being mated, but their fathers were like "just you wait!" and the brothers were like "nope, not happening!" and then, boom, book 3 is all laid out for you! Next one to fall is Booker.
Now, I have to admit, I had to google what a slow loris was, cos Taylin thought Hollis was cute in his shifted form, and I couldn't picture what they looked like, but oh my days! Cute is about the best word I could use to describe a slow loris! Especially when Hollis is curled up, in shifted form, on Taylin's chest. So bloody cute, that image.
I've followed Sayle from the very beginning. I mean, I almost slated her first book! But she has a way that pulls you in, and sets my book brain off with questions! It knows it has questions about Lord knows what about this book, but in true Sayle fashion, my brain can't voice them . . yet . . . maybe even at all!
So I'll leave this review with, I bloody loved it and I can't wait to watch the other brothers fall for their mates, in whichever way they do.

BUT! Cliffhanger, people, of the most EPIC proportions, and I did not see it coming, and I am NOT happy!!
She’s a witch, he’s a Nephilim – and a simple kiss could kill them both. That is the tag line for this book, and it is perfect!
Nate is Nephilim, and all he knows is that witches would kill him, if they got intimate. Alissia thinks she is human, but actually, she's one of those deadly witches. But she's also a scientist, and after research by them both, she comes to the conclusion: it's a load of hooohaa, and then gets down and dirty with Nate! But there are forces trying to keep them apart, and Alissia will have a difficult decision to make.
I really REALLY liked this, not quite loving it, but mostly cos of that cliffhanger! Both Alissia and Nate get a say, so that made me happy, cos I do like to hear from the important people in a story.
It's dark and deadly: there is violence here, and it is graphic, but I think it's needed, to get the point across. It's steamy and smexy: explicit scenes from that very first page! If you follow my reviews, you'll know I do prefer my books on the smexy side, but I don't think I've read another book, where it starts right on the first page! I loved that, while it is explicit, that first scene is actually a dream and neither Nate nor Alissia knew the face of the person they were dreaming about!
There is much misinformation passed down, from both the witches and the Nephilim. Getting to the bottom of it took some time, and I do think that I might have got a *bit* lost with it, somewhere, but it all came to make sense.
I loved that Nate wanted to question his superior when it came to the child they rescued, a Nephilim child. I do hope he gets his way on that one!
So, the cliffhanger came out of nowhere, mostly because I wasn't paying attention to the time left in the book and I am NOT happy about it!!
I have just ONE burning question: when can I get my hand on book 2??

Only Greg gets a say here, and I wanted, so desperately wanted to hear from Louis, at many key points along the way and I don't get him.
That said, it's the only fault I can find with this book.
I loved that Greg knew, deep down, that he wasn't a casual person, and he could never be casual with Louis. Yet he jumped right in with everything. I loved that Greg let Louis keep his secret for as long as he wanted to. He knew it would come out in the end, he just had to bide his time. I hated what Greg's brother was doing to him, I really did. Said brother does get his comeuppence though.
Greg's past is dark and shocking, being made homeless at 16, he did what he had to do to survive. Loved that Louis did NOT hold it against him, even if his own flesh and blood did. Loved that the band supported him doing the solo stuff, to appease his brother, and also that they stood by him.
It's not especially explicit for a MM romance, but I liked that here, it's more about the emotions going through Greg (since we don't get Louis!) than anything else.
Some difficult topics dealt with: religious intervention, conversion therapy, street life and doing what you need to do to survive. Triggers for some, be mindful.
This is the first I've read of Greene's work. Like I said, I'd like, *time allowing* to read the series that Greg first appears in, but if not, I will absolutely read any future books by this author.

Callen finds Thatch, the leader of a black ops task force, bleeding and bitten when he goes against orders, again. But Thatch was bitten by Callen's sister, and his niece is now missing and Thatch might be the only link to finding the child. But as the investigation spreads its net, Callen is forced to make some decisions, decisions that could cost him his heart. I really REALLY enjoyed this from Ms Seymour! She usually writes fairly fluffy, contemporaries and this isn't fluffy, nor contemporary but it is great! I loved the twist to werewolf lore, that the oly way for a wolf to be made is to be bitten. But that act kills the wolf and transfers all their memories to the new wolf. I loved the supporting cast, and all the little . .hints/clues/dropped comments . . .about them. Some questions wre thrown up, that haven't been answered here. However, in my personal experience, its best not to wait for those questions to be answered cos the last time I felt like this, I had a right proper hissy fit when those questions were NOT answered LOL So I won't voice those questions, and then I can't be dissappointed, right? I loved Callen. He is funny and hilarious, and dark and deadly. He is deep and meaningful, but takes great pleasure in winding his friends up. I loved that fact tht the bond between Callen and Thatch creep up on them, and there isn't that MINE moment at first meeting. It DOES come, but it's more growled out of Callen in reaction to someone else touching Thatch. So why only 4 stars with all those things I loved? Thatch isn't given a voice. Now, I know I say it a lot, and I will continue to say it where I think it necessary but HERE I think it really needed. Thatch takes ALL of his Hazel's, Callen's sister, memories and thoughts and feelings. ALL of them. And that had to be confusing when they start to come through! When those memories sends them far north to find Hazel's daughter. When he comes face to face with that daughter. What was Thatch feeling? I needed that, I really did, and if I HAD Thatch, I have no doubt, not a single one, that this would have been a 5 star read. I don't know if this is a stand alone, or there will be more of this group of people, I hope so, I really do! You do NOT get everything all at once, and I really loved being able to process every little bit as and when it came at me.
And you can process it, just in time for the next bit to be thrown at you. And I really LOVED getting thrown at! I can't tell you how much I love being able to take steps into a new world a bit at a time, I really can't.
There is something much bigger going on here, that is revealed, I'm sure. The clues are there, I think, but I'm not sure I put it all together in the way it's meant to be put together. I mean, SOME things are totally clear, but it's the other bits and pieces that are a little fuzzy and I love that they are, cos I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED the next book to make things unclear!

Wings for Nim, her brother Val and a couple of Tristan's men. Those things are just *there*, you know? You don't get a big long winded explanation, just Nim stretched her wings. And I loved that!

It has twists and turns, new additions to the folklore of gargoyles. It has a feisty young lady, with an old head on her shoulders. It has an old solider, with a hardened heart. It has a scorned witch, and some bad as sin fae folk who want nothing more than to destroy all the gargoyles!
Beaumont (not ever shortened to Beau, so many Brownie points!) is old, and actually has had enough. Faced with his little pickpocket stealing his most precious stone, he knows that he will die if he doesn't get it back. But since meeting the feisty little thief, his attitude is changing, and maybe, just maybe, he can find it, and be happy with Sadie.
I loved that Beaumont only calls Sadie her given name but once in the whole book. She's his little thief, his pickpocket, all those sorts of names. Why? He doesn't like that Sadie contains the word SAD! I was like, "oh thats so sweet!"
I liked that Sadie's sister will play a huge part in another gargoyle's life, in book 2. And I wonder if the scorned witch will be making another appearence in a later book to redeem herself.
Ms Redd has started a new series with a bang, and I hope to get to read them all!

I have a *thing* for the more obscure paranormal creatures, and gargoyles are at the top of that list, since so few are written. Add in an author who is a firm favourite, and really, you can't go wrong!
And I LOVED this gargoyle book!

This is a collection of stories, billed as horror.
Now, pre-kindle days, I was a horror reader, and it's been some time since I delved into the genre. And while these are mind-provoking, I wouldn't quite class them as horror, as such.
That said, they are all short, sharp shocks into the mind of Foster and how they tell their tales. I've not read any of their work before, though, and I really enjoyed this little peek into their mind.
Some stories were grabbing, and didn't let go. Some were just good. I got lost in the space story, to be honest but I did read them all.
I will never look at a glazed doughnut in the same way, ever again! Moths are definitely on my nope list, and the beach after a storm will be a bit dicey!
So, scary? Yes. Make you think? Yes. But for me, not quite what I would call horror but still an extremely good set of shorts, that make me want to read something longer and more in depth by this author.
4 very good stars across the set, but stand out for the beach story, the doughnut one and the tree.

This is the start of a new series by these 2 authors, and I have to say, very different from the Tangled Tentacles and I loved that it is!
Silas goes to town once a week to sing. He can only manage short times away from his tree and the forest, being a dryad. Dakata is a demon, living in the human world, managing music acts. Dakata's demon reacts to Silas, making Dak aware that his Blissful One is near. But others are against the mating. And danger looms.
I just gotta mention the cover! When I got my copy, it didn't have a cover, and I only saw the cover AFTER I read it. It fits, perfectly! The scene it's taken from? Comes over exactly like the cover! Love it!!
I loved this, I really did. It's a bit different, with Silas being a dryad. He is bonded to a tree, and cannot be far from it. The tree talks to Silas, but also is able to move freely. Which makes for some fun times, especially when Dak is near and they get down and dirty! Phew!! Dak's demon talks to the tree too.
I liked that the danger was simple jealousy. No complicated plot with twist and turns to follow. I even liked the way Dak's demon dealt with that threat.
So, I have a couple of questions!
Will Wanda get a book? I mean, she has three trees she is bonded to, will she get three partners?
Will Dougal and George get stories too?? I loved these two and hope they do.
And just who is the goat, in dak's apartment that kicks Merihem in the nuts??!!
It's a little bit out there, but Sayle is becoming a master at the out there troupe!

Sasha doesn't want Nick to end up in the hospital, or worse, so he has to come up with something quick, while clearly out and healing his grandfather's house.
I won a copy of this book, and I am so bloody glad I did! Ms Ryan usually writes Young Adult and had this book came with that tag, I would not have entered, cos I'm not a YA fan. This is Ms Ryan's first foray into a much more adult setting, and into the male/male genre, and BOY does she smash it out the park!
Sasha can read houses, they call to him. His skill isn't made immediately clear, and we have to wait for the full picture. I think it really hit me, just what this meant for Sasha, when he was healing his grandfather's house.
I loved we got all of Nick's internal wrangling with himself over his growing feelings and attraction to Sasha. Loved that he was like, "okay then, must be bi" Loved the interaction between Nick and his brothers! His older brother needs a story now, needs to find his happy ever after, especially after what happened here. Well both brothers should have a story, I think!
It's not overly explicit, I thought, but it wans't lacking in any thing regards to the heat and steam level between these two! Not at all! It does carry a violence and drug use warning. These ARE needed and are an integral part of the story, but they are all off screen. We know Sasha's mum does drugs, but we don't see it. We know WHAT happened to Nick, cos we deal with the fall out, but not HOW. It also comes with a non-con warning. It's mostly touching, and doesn't develop into a full blown attack, but could very well have. It needs mentioning though.
It's told from both Sasha and Nick's point of view, in the first person. Each change occurs as a a chapter changes and is clearly headed. I didn't quite manage to read it in one sitting, but very nearly!
I can't wait to see what Ms Ryan comes up with next. I love finding new to me authors, especially ones who step outside their comfort zone! She impressed me here, greatly, and, apparently, I'm a tough critic! I'm not sure that's true, but I LOVED this book.

OK SO! This is book 2 in The Hawks series, and you really REALLY MUST read Tristan, book 1, before this one. This book picks up immediately after that one, and you need, you really NEED that book to get the full picture of what's happened before. You get the most of it recapped, but personally, I don't think it ALL comes across.
Lanval was rescued, along with his sister Nim and Keeley, the Queen's maid. The Queen, however, was not and Val needs to rescue Alanna before her despot of a husband hangs her for treason she did not commit. But Val is broken, inside and out, and his Hawk friends hate him for what they thought he did. Lanni is glad Val is free, she can die knowing he is safe. Then, he's there, rescuing her and whisking her away! Ballinor won't stop though, and with a new chancellor at his side, things get mighty difficult for everyone.
In case you missed it, when you read my review for Tristan, I LOVED that book. And I wanted to love this one as much as that one, but I can't, as much as it pains me, I really can't.
Why?? Cos I LOVED THIS ONE MORE!!
OH my freaking gosh, this book! Full of so much! So much pain, for both Lanni and Val. So much love between them, even if it takes them such a long time to finally, FINALLY come together fully. So much discovered, by The hawks, about what happened before, and so much guilt from everyone!
I cried, a lot in this book. Val and Lanni are perfect for each other, but they know they can never be free to be together, while the King listens to his newest Chancellor. Oh I did NOT like him. The last one was just trying to get his hands on Lanni, but this one?? He's after so much more than that. What exactly, I'm not entirely sure yet, but I'm sure all will be revealed, eventually! I love being kept in the dark!
I shouted a lot too! Lanni has a lot of ideas about honour, as does Val, but some of it is misplaced. I swore, a few choice words a sailor would be proud of, or rather, words a soldier in the barracks would be proud of! These men, this group, right? They love hard, they fight hard, and they *think* they mess up hard, but actually, THEY don't! Reece, oh he needs such a hug. He thinks he caused most of the group to be captured, but he didn't. Even the Chancellor says so, but Reece feels he did. His book is gonna be painful reading, I reckon!
Both Lanni and Val get a say, along with Mathos, who has his book next. I did see him with someone else, to be honest, but given what was discovered here, then reading what it says at the end of this one, I was made to see my error. Mathos is not Mabin, like Val and Nim, but something else. Something with a beast inside him. With scales. Dragon-type beast? Not 100% certain, I may have missed all the clues, but Mathos the man is a bit of a player. He thinks he won't fall like Tristan and Val, so when he meets his lady in the next book, there is sure to be fireworks.
Said lady also gets the epilogue. When she was revealed in this book, I wasn't expecting her, and she has quite a tale to tell, I'm sure. How she will react to Mathos should be amusing, given these men have protective streaks a canyon wide, and she has been where she has all her life.
I said in my review for Tristan that I thought this would be a much darker read than that one, and it is, it really is. The level of violence Ballinor steps up to is given in great detail, and you can feel every lash given, every punch taken and every injury to Lanni at the hands of her husband. Val too, but it's mostly Lanni who suffers here.
I can't wait for what comes next, because I'm not seeing the whole picture yet. I can't see where this is all going and I love that! Mostly, though, because I'm loving these guys, watching them fall one by one, and meeting the strong women who take their hearts.

Angelo is a wolf, with a hatred of vampires as one killed his parents and sister. Vin is a vampire assassin that Angelo has to guard. Someone is trying to kill him but the wolf might just finish the job.
What I particularly liked about this, was how quickly Vin was thinking that Angelo was his, his Angel. And he used that name from very early on and I loved that neither of them was fully aware of the mate bond til it was pointed out.
It's steamy, but oh so deadly. Vin is, after all, an assassin, with hundreds of years of experience. Some of that violence is on page, and while graphic, I do think it is needed to get the point across, that Vin might look cute, but the vampire is deadly.
I loved the way this author built this world, with shifters, vampires and witches all at each other's throats but trying to keep the peace at the same time. No one wants a war. Or maybe, someone does, but we are not yet fully privvy to WHO, just clues thrown at you. Vin does come a cropper here though, at the hands of who it might be, the lines are a little blurry for me, but still! I felt every blow!
I loved the supporting cast, too. They help Vin and his Angel see their true connection, but also play a huge part in the background story too. I look forward to catching up with them in future books. It'll be interesting to see who falls next. Well, I know who is next, I just hope I can get my grubby mitts on it!
