Ok this is typical JS so no high literature but a lot of humor and laughs. The hero is pretty standard of hers, obsessed, grumpy, very loyal but also a bit ott and psycho, so the heroine has very little voice in it. It’s quite unusual because she was married to her childhood sweetheart so more than 15 years together and they have been unable to have kids, so one day he comes home and he tells her he has got one of his student, he’s a professor, pregnant. His mother, who wants a grandchild from her only male child, and hates the heroine, basically forces the heroine to accept both the ow and the child. Ow is a psycho bitch, so when the heroine, eventually, grows a spine and leaves the hero divorcing him, the psycho bitch drugs sistematically the hero and her baby to have what she wants, money and a man. The heroine who has been gaslighted into guilt because unable to conceive, goes to another town and meets the hero, who had seen her two years before, was madly in love with her, but, learning she was married, had left in a state of desperation that lasted months. Now that he meets her again and she’s single, he’s all over her, and they begin a new relationship. He’s kind and considerate in a JS way that is, she can’t sneeze without him allowing it, but since he only wants what is best for her, she is happy to ask permission for her sneeze. In a couple of times he goes overboard because she didn’t tell him about her meeting with crazy ex family, but in this case he was right, because the heroine had to lose the martyr attitude and start retaliation. Oh, and she gets pregnant as soon as yesterday. Guess what, maybe she was not the one being sterile? In the meantime being JS, her ex is unhappy in a depressing and suicidal kind of way, he doesn’t care for his newborn child, he starts resenting his mothers presence, whining because he misses his wife, and hating ow, that is a nasty bitch. He gains pound over pound and is smashed by alcohol most of his time, he even loses his job and he sells his house. His mother blames the heroine and we find out she’s the real mastermind, who trapped his father drugging him and planning to get pregnant six times while he was in love with another woman. In the end the ex, ow and mother in law have a really nice karma waiting for them while the heroine becomes a fertility goddess starting with a triplet, twins and a single one. So, very unlikely and ott book, but I loved the humor, in some part it was really hilarious. Of course a lot of ott sex but the hero was anyway a man who put the heroine, her family, his children, above all the rest. Which is more than we can ask in books in this time of penury. ...more |

The heroine left the hero because she was only 18 and he was 28 when her rich father made him left the town. So after four years he’s back and wants the heroine back and of course some revenge. Meh. Lot of bdsm and sex and I skimmed a lot a book that was already too short, sorry but I was not interested in it. Double standard aplenty. He had ow, and it’s the heroine fault since she left him, while she was celibate. But of course he was thinking of her ahahahahahahah. She’s a sub and he’s a dom. Yawn. ...more |

Basically the heroine has been living in the sheik palace with her sister for years and when her teacher asks her repeatedly why she pretends to be happy ( why those people never think about their business) she asks the sheik to be her fake boyfriend for a while. The sheik accepts immediately. And she doesn’t smell a rat. Because well the sheik is basically much older than her and is a manwhore with a stable paid mistress. Sigh. But he accepts and asks her to go and work for him as his assistant. They seem to get along well and of course the heroine has a crush on him but he tells her he would never love her. Thank the *uck. Because if a man I have a crush on told me that, I will immediately erase him from my mind. Cancelled. Terminated. Kaput. While the idiot heroine keeps pining for him and also tells him she’s planning to make him fall in love with her. Pathetic. There’s some random kissing and pawing but nothing serious. He’s also some special op soldier so when he’s hurt in a mission the heroine is so scared for his well-being that she runs to him and guess who’s there hugging him and swearing ethereal love? But the teacher of course, that is also his cousin and married to another man. The hero explains the heroine he’s been in love with her since they were what 17? But when it turned out some week later that she was his cousin, their parents of course forbade them to be together. He would have left everything to be with her but she preferred to marry om so he could keep his place. Now she is separated from her husband and wants the hero back. At this point if I was the heroine I would have dumped his sorry ass after banging his muzzle with a pole. Because enough is enough and a woman must keep at least her pride. The heroine instead basically asks him to dump ow and to stay with her, and she becomes his mistress. Yes, not girlfriend or partner but secret mistress. I suppose they are in a Muslim country since she wears an ayab and he’s a sheik so i suppose also her position is not very comfortable. But she’s content. Grrrrrr. They stay that way for months and when ow asked him to help her because her husband doesn’t want to give her a divorce the heroine asks him not to intervene. Well I appreciate that she asked this of him and I really was astonished that he would only think about helping another woman when he was with the heroine. He behaves always like a selfish uncaring prick where the heroine is involved and never cares for her and her feelings. He took everything from her without giving her anything in return and all this for a woman who is his cousin (yuk), dumped him years ago and was only his gf for some weeks more than 15 years before. Heroine here is not spineless she’s a rag. A toilet paper. Really. When ow is hurt by her husband the hero is furious because he blames the heroine because she didn’t want him to help her, and goes back to ow. The heroine after some time leaves him but he doesn’t even go after her. Or try to stop her. That’s how he care for her. And this is where I gave up on the book and i skipped some parts because there was no point. He also tells her months later that he can’t leave ow because he’s all she’s left. So what? The heroine is always the last here not only the second best. Not even the consolation prize. She’s something you don’t know if you will give to your cat and if the cat doesn’t want her too maybe you keep her. I can say my cat wouldn’t want her since he’s very picky. Of course eventually he tells her he always loved her and didn’t love ow because it was only out of habit and duty but I didn’t believe it for a moment. What habit since they only were high school sweetheart for a week? What duty since she dumped his sorry ass then came back when it turned out her husband was a jerk? And the heroine took him back. I just can’t. Oh and I didn’t know Muslim celebrate Christmas too? ...more |

The book was very ente This was quite a long one, actually in the end of the book it was specified that it was originally split into five or six parts. The book was very entertaining for many reasons, even if it has its faults. The trope is funny, the heroine grew up with two aunts that read her hp romances (no joke!) so her mr right is basically the Greek Billionaire idiot hero by Lynne Graham original and registered brand (no joke, again!). She also writes a journal about how to catch a billionare, describing how her aunts since she was a child has always read her Lynne Graham fairy tales instead of Grimms brothers', that can be fun because she really thinks that the perfect man is a greek billionaire, sexy, hot, clueless regarding love because he had a bad experience in the past and that will be cured by the heroine's true love. Sadly there's a greek rich student in her school and one of the evil girls is mad at her because the greek boy is fond of her, so she bullies the heroine and also steal her journal, threatening to expose her aunts to the world as two sluts who encourage their niece to prostitute herself in order to ensnare a billionare. There's a fight and the heroine is expelled. Some years later she meets her greek billionaire. This heroine is really too naive to live, because she really lives her life in order to find her greek billionaire, managing to have a job as an English teacher in a private posh school in Greece, and that's where she finds her billionaire. The billionaire part is not so relevant for her, it's only a part of her fictional dream, because actually Lynne Graham and her cohorts describes those men as if they are a perfect blend of powerful, sexy and alpha men, where the fact that they are rich is only an accessory of their being very smart and intelligent too (sigh!) Of course any average intelligent woman will eventually grow up and realize that fiction is just that, fiction, and real life is different but this heroine prefers to live in an ideal and very improbable world, where she will hurt herself very badly. The hero is a rich and sexy greek billionaire that doesn't believe in love and he's also ruthless and unprincipled since he plans to seduce the heroine (and manages to do it without much effort) even if she's a virgin, and asks her to become his mistress even if he's already engaged with a greek heiress and has no intention to break his engagement. There's this weird impression that the characters are in a hp romance and they know it but they don't know how to act differently and it was quite fun, as if you find out you're living in a videogame and it's whoa, what's happening? Actually it's not like that, the difference between a Lynne Graham heroine and this one is that LG heroines don't like greek billionaire, they think they are sexy but idiot and they are not very happy to be pursued by them, so when the idiot men disappoint them in some way, as it always happens, they are prepared and they are hurt but not so much. This heroine believes that her greek billionaire is perfection so she can't understand why he acts like a jerk and the pain is a thousand times worse. She is hurt by his lack of sensitivity and respect and this happens repeatedly in the book. First she's forced to see pictures of his engagement party in every tabloid, then she is forced to attend a party where he and his fiancee kiss (actually she kissed him even if he was reluctant), and that's where the hero realizes he can't hurt her and is in love with her, so he publicly rejects his fiancee and proposes to the heroine. There's another cute thing in this book and it's that the heroine has not one but three greek sexy billionaires in love with her, and she's quite an average woman, pretty but not exceptionally beautiful, but the mix of kindness, sexy curves, and innocence makes every alpha man's heart beat stronger and faster. She is actually quire irresistible to every alpha around and this makes the hero mad with jealousy. I really believed that after the hero proposed to her the book would have been boring, but luckily I was mistaken. The couple is not happy in the beginning, since the hero has many issues with his company due to his jilting the heiress and the heroine is basically banished and unable to find a kob in Greece. The problems get worse since neither the hero nor the heroine talk about their issues and the hero starts believing that since she has no job she's really a gold digger. Things escalate until the hero turns out to be the perfect LG hero, and throws the heroine out of his house without even her shoes on, calling her every kind of names and even sending her to jail because she refuses to leave his house. The heroine of course calls one of the other billionaires and goes back home. The hero realizes his mistakes and wants her back but it's more difficult that he thought since her aunts are very powerful and rich women, not the sweet and clueless auties one can imagine, so the hero loses his head and much weight trying to find her. And that's where the heroine is sent by her aunties for weeks in a cottage alone with another sexy dark and dangerous man, her life coach, who tries to make her get over the hero. I want to ask where this life coach is,who knows, I could need one someday. When the hero finds her she and the sexy coach had already had a pleasant interlude and the hero understands it immediately. And he's shattered. And I enjoyed it. He's really remorseful and repentant and even if he's been celibate as a monk, he blames himself for what the heroine did, actually he blames himself for everything and is ready to debase himself and to stay with her even if he thinks she only pities him. They get married and he tries his best to make amend, and I have to admit that even if what he did to her was very bad and mean, he really throws his pride to the wind and begs her repeatedly and publicly to stay with him every time he thinks she's goint to leave him. Eventually I myself, nasty bitch that I am since I vent all my frustrations and inner malice on those poor romance heroes, pitied the poor sod and even if I understand the heroine's doubts and insecurities about him I really wanted them to be happy. And they were. Eventually, they were. There were also: the hero's mother from hell, the hero's to be father in law from hell, some evil lecher who tries to rape the heroine, an evil and spurned ex fiancee, and a young student bar future sexy billionaire who tries to seduce the heroine in a bizarre student/teacher kind of way. The book is long but it's entertaining and I never felt bored or annoyed. The hero was ruthless and awful in the beginning, the heroine was too naive to live as the title says, and you may like her or not. I didn't think she was weak, she was really living in a fantasy world but she woke up eventually. Badly. But she did. Safety: the hero has been engaged to his heiress for years but of course it was a business arrangement and they had no feelings for each other, so no sex or feelings involved, anyway he cheated with the heroine and planned to keep on cheating even when he married ow. The heroine wasn't celibate after the hero threw her out of his house, and I didn't feel bad about it. She didn't go all the way though. For once the hero got his punishment and while he was celibate she tried to get over him getting under another man. And not the other way around. It's a progress. The angst level is very high, so for me it's ok. ...more |

I loved it! It was a jump into the past, in the early 80s with Hollywood kind of lifestyle full of excesses and tackiness. The heroine is the daughter I loved it! It was a jump into the past, in the early 80s with Hollywood kind of lifestyle full of excesses and tackiness. The heroine is the daughter of a famous actress who’s also a narcissist sex symbol. She’s been sheltered and living in a convent and as soon as she’s 18 and all grown up she’s back home where her mother is giving one of her wild parties, and it’s oh so wonderful! Movie stars and groupies swimming naked and having sex, its basically a x rated movie or a hugh Hefner party. And the hero! Oh the hero! With his golden medallion and heavy golden chain, I can almost see him! And what a sleazy pig he is! He turns up into the heroine’s bedroom while she’s naked and, without any shame, starts mauling her as if she were a pornstar! Really??? Without even knowing her! It’s good to say that the heroine is a typical slutty virgin, and doesn’t react screaming and kicking like mad, she stands her ground and enjoys the hero’s dirty approach. Finesse is not their second name. The heroine’s mother is a jealous aging woman that would like to jump the hero’s bones so she tries in every way to prevent them from seeing each other, and I think it was the right thing to do since the hero was a 34 yo swine while the heroine was a 18 yo naive virgin. Even if she did it for the wrong reasons. The heroine though is a lil slut and doesn’t stop seeing the hero, who’s a sleazy manho until they eventually have sex. Very bad sex though. Because she’s a virgin and he rams into her like a knife into soft butter. Causing her pain and tears. I wonder what experience taught to those men. They should be gods gift to women and they cannot even manage a decent first time with a virgin. A shame. Their second time is much better but the hero is appalled because the heroine weeps afterwards so he thinks he isn’t able to give her pleasure. Aaaaaannnndddd… instead of making some further efforts and trying to give a better performance with some patience and fantasy, he panicks and tells her it’s over between them. Such a great lover he is. The heroine is of course appalled and runs away. When she goes back home later, she finds her mother and the hero in bed together. He’s sleeping of course so we already know there’s a big deception and a big misunderstanding here. She runs away. Five years later she’s a famous actress and engaged to a good man, but of course there’s no passion between them. Her new director and co partner in her new movie is surprise surprise- the hero! So the bickering starts and there’s the usual CM tit for tat where they try to make the other jealous and they repeatedly insult each other… while kissing and mauling at every turn. There’s a would be ow and two om but eventually the hero and the heroine find that they have been both deceived by the wicked witch of the west, the heroine’s mother! Who wins the award for worst mother of the decade! We find out that both of them have been pining for the other and have been celibate for five years and all is well in the end. Nice and light story that I liked because there’s the usual fast and brilliant style that is CM signature style. And both were besotted and stayed celibate! What can I ask for more? And all that vintage dresses and parties! The heroine total yellow look: yellow shirt with yellow pants! The hero with his shirt unbuttoned until his navel! Whoever does that anymore??? And, while the heroine was a virgin and quite slutty, she wasn’t a doormat and I must admit that the hero was almost more immature than her even if he could have been her father. Jayzuz what a trip I had! Recommend it for some light fun. ...more |

Basical Brief novella all about sex, I went there with my eyes shut because I didn’t know what it was about so a bit it’s my fault for not enjoying it. Basically the hero has a sad background because his father dumped him and his mother to marry a younger woman with a lil daughter and his mother never recovered. He hates his dad, the new wife and the lil girl who enjoyed the rich life he had. He is now a very rich and powerful mob boss. When he’s about to kill one of his rivals he meets his stepsister, that he only saw twice but remembers very well, and decides to have his revenge on his father. He kidnaps the girl and has sex with her for all the duration of the book. And I skipped it a lot. No feelings here and in the end he also records their performance to send it to his daddy but until the end she doesn’t know who he is. No love from him or from her too, she’s a junkie who enjoys sex and doesn’t have a single thought in her head so I couldn’t empathize. And eventually it seems the hero decides he will keep her anyway. It you are fond of erotic maybe you could enjoy it, sadly I didn’t. ...more |

Well that’s interesting. I thought that bodice rippers were a thing of the past and I realize that many young writers, very young ones indeed, that should have a concept about men and women that is exactly opposite to the one their grandmothers had, are exactly the same. I don’t know if I am fascinated in a bad or a good way though, because I could understand that old skool bodice rippers were borne in a period where women were forcibly submitted to men and had no say in any matter that counted, and were victims because they were daughters of Eve, and therefore sinners and temptress that had to atone the sin of their own existence. Daughters of a mentality that was basically male chauvinist, made and established by men,of course, who have always been trying to submit the powerful creative force that is uniquely feminine. Apparently decades of feminism haven’t been able to erase such a belief in the minds of women themselves. This is a paranormal story, where the characters are werewolves, living in a cruel and almost medieval society, where people live in very strict and separated casts. The heroine is a poor slave, a girl abused since her childhood, made a servant first and a mistress afterwards, against her will, but of course she can’t have any will of her own The hero is a king, and he’s her mate. When he finds her she’s dressed and a hoe and he thinks she’s one. She doesn’t deny, and this is one of the most annoying thing in the book, ok I understand she was a lower class female but she hasn’t even the strength to stand for herself in front of the filthy accusations of her mate. Not once she tries to explain her reasons. Spineless and not interesting character. So he, who should be the one to protect her and defend her, becomes one of her abusers, he makes her a slave and uses her sexually, telling her he will mate with a female more worthy of her, even if he knows he will make her suffer awfully. So he marries a woman, who by the way, turns out to be the real villain of the story and the heroine suffers each time they are together. So we have all the elements of good old bodice rippers. -rape -debasement -physical and emotional torture -throw in the dungeons - misunderstandings - ow and om drama - hero who repents eventually. Sadly, too little too late in this case. She’s already lost. This heroine hasn’t a moment of happiness in all the book and as everything else, enough is enough so at half the book I was already done and couldn’t feel any angst. Actually the heroine was too passive and too doormat and the fact that, even if she had some good time with another man who treated her right, eventually she tells the hero she loves her. After he was the cause of all her mishaps. Nope. That won’t do. He treated her cruelly just because. He never asked her what happened during her time when she was a slave, and he never listened to her side of the story. As if she could have chosen not to become a mistress of the man who owned her. This hero is one of the worst I’ve met recently. He hasn’t a good trait at all. And I usually tend to be good and to find the good in everyone, but here I’m at a loss. The only thing that made me go on was the title, that is the infamous death wolf. This mythical beast is said to appear whenever a mate is rejected and submitted to cruelty by her mate. The hurt and pains will call this deathly beast and it will bring death, precisely, to everyone involved in this savagery. So I was waiting until the end of the story for this monster to turn up and shit all over the pack who hurt the poor heroine starting from the hero, but I was disappointed. The beast only kills the evil ow and brings some death to the pack but the hero doesn’t suffer enough and it’s all in the last pages of the story. I was waiting for at Least one third of the book dedicated to the heroines revenge but sadly not this time. There’s a second book of this series but I don’t know if I want to read it. It’s about the hero and heroines daughter. Meh. Not safe at all. The hero keeps having sex with ow through all the story, I don’t care if he loved the heroine he actually had sex with her the one time then all the book with ow. Really? I wanted more revenge with this death wolf, I wanted the hero to suffer more, I wanted the heroine to become stronger. Nothing. It had potential but I was disappointed. Two stars for the angst and for the bodice ripper vibes. ...more |

The hero raping repeatedly the heroine after kidnapping her, his obsession with her mother ( seriously) or the heroine’s obsession with om. I don’t want to spoil it too much because it would take away all the fun, since, besides the many traumatic and cringeworthy experiences in this book there’s not much more. So that you know there is - kidnapping - rape -gang rape - miscarriage - cheating - awful detail of the hero doing surgery on the heroine. This scene will forever be imprinted in my memory because it was completely ott. Oh, for your info, it was not on a leg or an arm. Just have a guess. The heroine having sex with om to prove a point was equally bizarre. Aaaannnnnndddd the good part is: no PTSD for the heroine here after all she went through. Maybe those Victorian maidens were much stronger than women in these times because I felt ptsd only reading what she went through. You may read it only if you are in a very good and serene mood, maybe after taking one Xanax or two. No thanks ...more |

There are her passion hp and historical romances, more classical books with committed heroes, no cheating and many misunderstandings and wronged heroines, then there are her erotic books, reverse harem books, some thriller book and some bdsm. This one is bdsm. What I didn’t like was the contract issue, the hero asks the heroine to sign a nda contract where she belongs to him, does everything he wants, and then eventually they part without recriminations. It’s too similar to good old FSOG, a book I hated with all my heart, to be appreciated by lil old me. The hero is heroine’s brother’s friend and wants to keep the story hidden to avoid problems, they both have a thing for each other but acts like it’s only sex. So you have every kind of kinky sex between them, with a sub/dom relationship, a very mild one, where she has to trust him and do everything he asks her. Meh. There’s an episode with some dubious consent but only because the hero makes a mistake and leaves the heroine alone and bonded with some men who have to touch her and one of them slaps her and tries to force her to do things. The drama is about him leaving her with them, not him making her do this thing, she actually agrees with everything and is also curious of this thing with other men, so no, she wasn’t forced to have sex with om, she agreed. The accident happens because he didn’t protect her as a good dom should. I know it sounds weird but this is the politics of the kink, not mine. I don’t enjoy this kind of sharing in books, so I couldn’t really connect to it. But she was ok with it, while the hero wanted to prove he didn’t care about her (failing) The real mistake was that the hero in the end refuses to recognize their affair in front of her brother and that’s where she feels betrayed and rejected. He makes her believe he doesn’t care for her at all. She leaves him and of course he goes back to her and grovel for a while. Did I like it? It was different and to appreciate it you have to erase your beliefs about couples, relationships and traditional sex, but in the end he redeemed himself and wanted the heroine all for himself, love, kinks and all. Safety not good. Both had other partners before the contract, afterwards there’s the episode with her with other men but she didn’t have sex with them. ...more |

Nice good angst for a very mean and vengeful hero. He’s pissed and angry because his wife, the woman he loved more than anyone else, left him two years Nice good angst for a very mean and vengeful hero. He’s pissed and angry because his wife, the woman he loved more than anyone else, left him two years before without a word and leaving him divorce papers to sign. He’s found out where she is and that she’s got a son that she kept hidden from him. We know that she went away because there’s someone who threatened the hero if she didn’t leave, so we know that she’s a martyr but the hero thinks she went away because she didn’t love him and had found another man. So he’s very mean and hurtful, in a very ott way that made me laugh more than angry. He tells her that as soon as his child is weaned he will take him away from her and kick her out of their life. Thank god there’s his mum, best character ever, that prevents his inflamed ego from doing silly things and tells him to look for the reason behind her behavior. So the hero hires some men to investigate on her. In the meantime he treats her badly and even brings a would be ow to let her believe he’s got an affair. It’s all a ruse since he’s been celibate and miserable secretly pining for her. Then there’s a lot of angry sex that he thinks he can use to punish her for what she did while she enjoys it all the time. A lot of punishing and rough sex, but she, the shy kitten, hides a tiger inside and is more than happy to comply. Turns out she’s the daughter of a man who committed suicide years before and her mother is an abusive psycho who abused her all her life. The heroine managed to run away and change her identity but somehow the evil woman found her. Guess who told her where she was? You get it? Ow of course. So the hero finds she’s a victim and was trying to protect him from the threats of her mother, who, by the way, has some relatives in the mob. Eventually there are also major twist that I won’t tell, but all is very, very well in the end. Even too well. - the hero. He was mean and nasty for the first part of the book but I can get it. After all she dumped him without even one word and kept his child from him. He didn’t make many effort to find her and he also had her number, I wonder why. What I can guess is that he was hurt and he thought she had found another man, and he was afraid of having the confirmation. After he finds out what happened he’s really sweet, even if he is hurt that she didn’t trust him enough to tell him the truth. He’s not so smart after all, and he wasn’t able to see ow was evil and was in love with him. - the heroine. Poor girl was in constant survival mode and it’s a wonder she’s not psychotic given the kind of mother she had. She didn’t trust the hero, but it wasn’t a matter of being dumb, she had a more obscure reason that in the end is revealed and let me tell you, she’s got a point. She seems to be a little subdued but actually she’s a survivor and in the end she gains some confidence. - hero’s mother. Best character ever. She understands more than the others what is happening and is also quite sadistic in her need for revenge on ow.And how she slaps all the characters in the book and how she’s always on the heroine’s side even when she doesn’t know what happened yet. - this is a book where the hero grovels for being mean, evil people pay for their sins in a very very thorough way and everything is ok in the end. It is not an original plot but it was quite good and well executed. Both characters are in love with each other and their behavior makes sense. Much sex with some kink. But I wasn’t bothered. I really enjoyed this one. ...more |

The book is a love story with a touch of mystery and paranormal. - it is maybe too long and not blended at all. - there’s a first part, described with many details, where the hero and the heroine meets in high school. As soon as he sees her he understands she’s the one. Those early days takes almost half the book, and sometimes I was wondering where that would take. Nowhere. Maybe the author wanted to describe how wonderful the hero is and how they are fated mates, twin souls and all that, since the hero never looks at another woman and they are always so good together- including very hot in bed. Then they get married, he has a wonderful career and they have tho children, that we barely meet during the whole book since they seem to be always at someone’s house. Twenty years later something happens- at last. The hero starts traveling and there are signs that he might be cheating on the heroine. The hero seems to be hiding something and we readers think, oh, so he’s just like any other man, looking for a mistress when his wife of twenty years gets older. But it’s not so simple. Basically there’s a ow, a psycho narcissist nymphomaniac who tried years before to do the hero but of course he refused with utmost disgust, even if this woman is better than a supermodel and sex on legs, but hey, this hero is the one dreams are made of, so he rejects her scornfully and she eventually stops stalking him. But now she’s back again. And she is so so evil that she drugs him and basically abuses him (thank god she can’t rape him since he’s unconscious) until the very strange and weird end when the heroine has a premonition and saves his life. Nothing to say about the characters, they are a wonderful couple and the hero is unreal in his perfection. Could he have avoided ow? Nope, she was his student first and then she managed to have a job where she could see him every day and it was very difficult for him to prove that she was stalking him- they all would have thought she was an ex mistress turned a bit insistent. - there are many things I didn’t like: the fact that the first part was so long then it abruptly turned to the present. - too many sex scenes. The heroine has also dreams that shows ow and husband having sex, she would be seeing ows dreams basically, but it wasn’t necessary to describe all those dreams in details. There’s so much sex that it seems a means to fill the pages. - the end was a bit rushed and not so likely, since there are no witnesses of that final scene where ow threatens the hero. Ok she is unbalanced but couldn’t the hero put some bugs to spy on her and to record her calls??? Meh. - ow was really ott and I liked her sometimes. She was so cute thinking that, because she was such a hot piece of a** no man could resist her ever! Poor thing! Even if the hero was most perfect man around I don’t want to think that all the men would have sex with her only because she is beautiful and sexually available. This is debasing all the category of men and treating them as brainless idiot lead only by their d**k. I suppose there would have been other men not so willing to have sex with a promiscuous- even if very hot- woman, but maybe in her deranged mind there weren’t. - the man was abused and didn’t even bat a lid? Where’s PTSD? Where is his reaction to a really traumatic experience? Rape is not only traumatic for women, it is for men too. Badly dealt with. - I liked that for once its the man who is stalked and abused ( not that I wanted him to be!) and I liked that he feels powerless because, for once, there’s a reverse double standard because he wouldn’t have been believed since his stalker was such a gorgeous and young creature. This is really interesting. - I think the book needed editing and some cuts but anyway I enjoyed it and I really loved the hero all the time. Most perfect hero ever, and I need some of those! ...more |

The heroine finds in her husband’s cell some text with ow, and thinks he’s got an affair. He tries to explain and tells her he never had anything physical but she refuses to listen. She becomes depressed and decides she’ll have therapy. The therapist asks her to call her husband and the hero then explains what happened. - he had this fantasy: to see his wife pleasured by another man, but since he knew she was not willing to let another man touch her he decided to ask a couple of exhibitionists to send him video of them having sex, in exchange of him pretending to be om and sending ow texts. It’s was all a pretense and he was never ever attracted to her, he fantasized she was his wife but after the first video he understood he wasn’t satisfied and stopped seeing the other videos that the couple sent him. But he sent her those texts to fulfill his part of the agreement. No involvement either emotional or physical. - he was ashamed of his fantasies and wanted to protect the heroine from his dark side. - he was actually very very sorry when the whole thing came out and cried like a baby because he never wanted to hurt the heroine, just the opposite. - but since they have this kind of sub dim relationship the heroine felt he betrayed her trust and didn’t share one important part of him with her, so she felt she was not enough. - there’s much angst here and that’s why it could have been 3 stars. - sadly there are two very disappointing things. - the first is the therapist- so called. He should be removed from his professional position. He exploited his patient trying to coerce her to accept that maybe she could enjoy another man’s touch, if she tried. - the heroine, despite she was willing to have bdsm with her husband, strongly believed in her marriage vows and wanted to be touched only by her husband. The lucky man didn’t appreciate it, apparently. - so the author tries- and fails- to persuade me that the heroine changed her mind about the sex with om and decided to go through with it. - and she puts their bff as the man they chose to pleasure the heroine while the hero watches. - and after all the three go out and have dinner together as happy buddies as nothing happened. Are you serious???? -the therapist who exploited his position to change his patient’s mind about her limits in her sexual life- without any real benefit for her: abominable. - the husband who, despite having a non conformist and satisfying sexual life with the woman he loved for more than a decade, decides that his fantasies are more important than his wife and the respect he owes her: despicable. - all people have sexual fantasies and not always they fulfill them, this doesn’t mean they don’t have a very satisfying sexual life. When fulfilling those fantasies become more important than any meaningful relationship one have in their life, it becomes an addiction therefore a problem. The husband needed therapy. - the bff becoming third in a sexual fantasy is creepy. Sorry, ...more |

Ok, this started well because there was great humor and I was very hopeful but after the first half it became too much and I couldn't enjoy it anymore
Ok, this started well because there was great humor and I was very hopeful but after the first half it became too much and I couldn't enjoy it anymore. The hero is 36 and has a thing for a camgirl he watches on a site where she gets herself off trying to auction her virginity. That's it. After wacthing one of her videos he sees one woman who looks very much like her and has a shag with her at the airport, hoping he will forget his obsession but alas he is still more obsessed by the camgirl and decides he will make an offer for her virtue. One month later the replacement woman turns up and tells him she's pregnant. Oh, she's 46. Really? The hero, who, after all, is not a bad guy, only not one of the brightest, decides he will take care of this stranger he has f***ed once without even knowing her name and asks her to live- temporarily- with him. In his lil not bright mind, he also thinks he will have to marry her. WTF? He's a millionaire and single, he can't reason this way. But whatever. Then this woman, for whom he doesn't feel anything at all, asks her daughter to come and live with them to help her with the baby. Guess who's the daughter? But the camgirl of course. And the hero is immediately hit by a truck because when he meets her he not only falls in lust but also in love with her like a horny teenager. And she's the teenager. She's 18, just barely. And soon to be stepdaughter. It was quite funny because they both feel this attraction to each other and the hero starts behaving like a caveman with her while ignoring baby mummy, it was really exilarating. And sometimes also angsty because the heroine thinks he will marry her mum and she can't have him. But then the kinky starts. Ok, there's a big age gap, but the heroine, even if he's virgin, is not exactly out of a convent, she's quite the slutty virgin, who is ready to have sex with a stranger and to sell her virginity to pay her college. She's far from innocent and more than once she taunts him and they have repeatedly sex with her mum nearby. What started to bother me was the daddy/ little girl thing whenever they had sex. It was too much. I don't like this kind of thing. Ok, it was only a role play and she's an adult just like him,so no pedophily here, but the continue reference to their age gap made me think that it was the main reason he liked her, that she was younger and he was much older. It made me wonder if maybe in 10 years he will be attracted to a younger, teenage model. That was one of the reasons I coulnd't enjoy the sex scenes. They were all: suck daddy's d**k, you're daddy lil girl, and so on. There's kinky and there's creepy. And this was creepy. It was ok the older man/ younger woman thing and it was ok also the daughter-who-screws-mummy's-boyfriend thing but not ok the daddy thing. I just couldn't. At a certain point I fell asleep on one of those scenes. Too much. And then there's the thriller part, where we will find out she's a cartel princess but she never knew and the woman who she thought was her mother is her half sister instead. meh. And of course the woman is not pregnant. -The celibacy issue. Techically he hasn't met the heroine when he has sex with ow, and he doesn't plan to meet her. She's a cam girl, not a real person for him. Only afterward he decides he will pay for her virtue. And the ons is useful for the story because through this ow he will meet the heroine. So no, the fact he screwed another woman before meeting her didn't bother me too much (just a little) What I didn't like is that he screwed her mother (ok, sister) and there was always this thing between them. Not good. Eventually I could have given 3 stars if there wasn't too much Daddy/lil girl reference during sex, and I liked that he was obsessed from the first time they met- phisically. And he was sweet too, very nice and caring, even if he wasn't too smart ... The heroine was quite slutty but ok, her pseudo mother had always been a very bad, careless and selfish mother, not affectionate and she had to live alone since she was 15. So her trying to steal the hero from her was quite understandable. -I didn't like that he thought for some time to marry that woman, even after meeting the heroine. Why? Is a bad marriage preferable for a child than two people who are civil and try to make their best for their child and are happy with other people? No, I don't think so. -I didn't dislike the book, I think I will give this author another chance (maybe without the daddy/lil girl thing) ...more |

He’s got sexual perversions and he’s addicted to them. - he knows he’s got this problem and he doesn’t do anything to solve it. He marries the heroine knowing he will be unfaithful so the marriage is not valid. He plans his cheating. This is disgusting. - we are not dealing with some man with kinky tastes in sex here. This is a disorder. What’s the difference between a kink and a disorder? A person can like some specific things that are not common having sex, as for example BDSM, objects, threesomes, etc. these are fantasies that are harmless because the person can have very satisfying sex without indulging in them if the partner is not willing to share them. And the person is normal because he can do without them and have a sexual life very satisfying nonetheless. A sexual disorder is when a person can’t have sex without a specific kind of perversion. He is addicted to it and needs them as a junkie needs his drug. This is the difference. - the problem arises when the partner is not willing because the person with the disorder is never willing to do without. You have to know that these kind of disorders are very difficult to treat because the person is ok with them. That is, he is happy to be as he is and he doesn’t care if he hurts other people. The only way he can give up his addiction is when it causes severe problems in his life. Like in this case. When the heroine finds out the hero is forced to give up his addiction but he’s not willing to do it. He only does it because he would lose his wife and very likely he won’t have a normal life, that is he won’t be accepted by his peers. - the fact that he cares for ow knowing how this would affect his wife is basically another proof of how selfish and unable to love those people are. - it takes years to solve those disorders and most of them never really recover. - the author is not able to understand how bad is his issue and messes up trying to make it a common cheating thing. Nope. The man will always be a serial cheater because this is part of his personality. He is a mentally unstable person and those people are usually- and he is- a selfish manipulative man who doesn’t care if he hurts people around them. - the message that you can heal a person with your love is very dangerous and false. You can heal those issues only with therapy and most of the time sadly you can’t. So stop trying to make it sound those people like normal people who can be good partners and loving husbands. Or wives, because it happens to women too. They can’t. - the only way for women to deal with this kind of man is: avoid them like the plague. The only people who can deal with those people are therapists. - I like when books deal with issues but authors must take their time and get information about what they are writing about. This was really poor. And I hope all women who read it understands how wrong is everything: - I’m angry and not because of the cheating but because it seems that once again female authors tries to make women accept every kind of cheating even the more twisted and disgusting just because. Stop vilifying women. We are worth more than these disturbed men. Never settle for these kind of abuse because this is what it is. Emotional abuse from a mentally disordered person on a traumatized and weaker one. This is awful. ...more |

I think it’s that mountain air that has something to do with the peculiarities of those people. And I also think that the author watched the movie Seve I think it’s that mountain air that has something to do with the peculiarities of those people. And I also think that the author watched the movie Seven brides for seven brothers where seven handsome young men living on the mountains basically kidnapped the women they liked and kept them until they were in love with them. Actually the premises are very crazy and unlikely and I was at first wondering what I was reading but in the end I must admit I like the whole crazy stuff with all its triggers. Because be warned. This book has many. But it was very fun and I’ve read it with a smile on my face all the time. There’s also a small amount of angst but it is soon solved and not much drama. The hero is one of seven brothers who have this peculiarity that is a curse or a blessing depending on how you see it, they will know the woman of their life at first sight. And when I say first sight I actually mean it. It’s the talk of the town, and it’s already happened to many of his seven brothers who apparently mad some really crazy stuff as kidnapping their women, messing with their birth control and similar, basically becoming cavemen where they are involved. It could be they were some kind of werewolves but they have lost their powers and now the only thing they have left is the mythical bond with their fated mated? It seems something of the kind. The hero is 42, but don’t worry he doesn’t have grey hair or balding spots or a paunch, he’s over 6 feet tall, well built and has all his teeth and hair, so all women in town try to hit on him hoping he will choose one of them. He’s also sexy as hell and with a high sex drive. But he’s quite content as he is and hasn’t any intention to find his fated one. Anyway when he meets the heroine he feels the instant connection and understands she is the one. Sadly fate gave him a 20 yo girl who is running from an abusive cousin who not only threatens her virtue but also keeps her as a slave stealing all her money and preventing her from seeing anyone. The poor thing decided to leave home because her creepy cousin tried to rape her- again- and go somewhere else and she eventually sleeps in a RV near the hero’s home. The hero, despite understanding she’s the one, decides he can’t keep her because she’s too young and needy. He thinks it wouldn’t be fair to force her to stay married with a man who could be her father and filling her with babies before she has ever started to live. This was very cute because the curse turns those men into real cavemen who feel the need to protect, feed, have sex and babies with their women so he really fight his instincts. When the heroine knows that despite she is the one he doesn’t want her, she leaves and goes to another state. The hero realizes almost immediately his mistake and tries to follow her but she’s already gone. Thank god his younger brother followed her and decided to give her a home and a job so the heroine starts being free and independent. After three months the hero, who thinks she’s actually his brother’s gf, has enough and since he can’t live without her decides to go and get her. He’s enough of being selfless. She’s his and she will become his. So starts the whole possession charade and the heroine, who is actually more mature than him despite being half his age, decides to give him a chance, and the rest of the book is about them having sex, him being too jealous and possessive and eventually all is well. No ow, no om, a lot of sex and caveman behavior who is more fun than sexy. The hero is actually pleasant because he didn’t want to force her to be with a man much older than her. He actually cared for her. The heroine is nice and sensible, she had an abused childhood. The sex was somehow excessive especially in the beginning when the hero forces the heroine to have multiple coupling on their first night together. And she was a virgin. And he was big. And after the second time she wasn’t very willing. I found the thing disturbing and useless because he didn’t care about her discomfort. Nope. Maybe it was his werewolf side of the thing but I hoped he really let her alone. I was wincing all the time thinking how uncomfortable it was for the poor girl. And he didn’t even give her time to recover. Whatever. If you are not fastidious about age gap, love at first sight and caveman behavior I think this is a safe and entertaining reading. Try not to find too much sense in what you’re reading though. ...more |

The heroine is in a relationship with her boyfriend of 6 months, she’s an event planner and she’s hired to plan the engagement party of a jet set couple. When she arrives at this mansion she finds out the happy couple is a young heiress and her boyfriend! The idiot basically tells her it’s an arranged marriage and he and the heroine can still be lovers. Of course the heroine is veeeery angry and hurt, and she leaves him. - some time later she meets the hero. She is hired to plan the opening of his new resort, an island where every guest can have sex with hired professional ( male and female prostitutes) and explore some kinky things. She is attracted by the hero and they have sex. After a very hot night together they decide they will be occasional fuck buddies, but they agree they won’t be exclusive. After all, the hero has to try and train his staff and there’s so much temptation in his resort, and the heroine wants to have some free sex with multiple partners. They are both so relieved that they can have sex with whom they want without committing to someone. - at this point the book was lost for me. I’m not a prude but the idea that those two met, were attracted to one another but were horrified by the idea of being exclusive and happy to be with op was very disappointing. It means that their attraction wasn’t so special. - and actually the hero had a bj by one of his employees and the heroine had sex with one of his colleagues, and both were watching the other having sex with op, without being jealous. Not for me folks. - I skipped all the parts where she was at the resort and they had sex with multiple partners. Where’s the romance. - I expected that at least in the beginning they would be attracted to each other so much that they would be unable to think to op, then when they bonded they could have explored sex with other people. Not my ideal couple but it would have been better. But the idea of them having sex with all the world well, it was like watching a x rated movie. Why? - then they start to be more than fuck buddies, first they decide to have orgies but only at the resort, afterwards he wants to have sex with other people but only if both of them are present. Mmmmm, progress. - and then after some time he tells her that they would be exclusive and won’t have other partners. And what about temptation? - there’s some drama when she’s almost raped by her ex and he’s actually drugged and raped by two women, something that should be expected when you have random sex with strangers. - and in the end he wants to sell his shares because he doesn’t want his children to grow up with a pimp for a father. Thank goodness for small mercies. - I may be judgemental , I’m all for healthy consensual sex but this way of having compulsory bizarre sex with too many partner is something that borders on pathological. Like an addiction. I found it shallow and mechanical. A way to use people and be used by them. I need feelings and here it was absent. And I love possessive and jealous heroes who don’t share. And committed. And my idea of love doesn’t include to surprise my partner with a gift of a whore that wake him up with a bj. - I thought that when they met, after that awful experience the heroine and the hero fell in love and felt committed to each other or at least felt they wanted to be exclusive. Not the case. Thanks but no thanks. Maybe those who love erotic romance could enjoy this one, I don’t. ...more |

The stars for the writing style, which is rich and interesting for once, would be 4. Since today I’m generous, I make an average of 2. The plot is really what ruined the reading. It’s a short novella, too short for my taste. There are so many holes that I don’t really know where to begin. The plot is nothing new. The heroine is jilted at the altar. The groom doesn’t show up, she has her life ruined and after four years during which she basically starves and works herself to death to keep her teenage brother who’s still at school, she meets the hero and guess what, he wants her back. Oh, and exactly two minutes after she meets him again, they are having sex on the wall. Just like that. WTF???? No, sorry, no. I think jellyfish have more backbone than this idiot example of woman who is the heroine. After this disgusting display of masochism we at least expect that the hero gives us a very very valid reason to jilt her years ago. For example, he had to hide because the mob wanted to kill him and the heroine? He had to go to war because his twin was prisoner and he had to save him. He had some awful illness that he could transmit to the heroine. He was in an accident and he lost his memory. No, no sorry nothing of this kind. The hero left her because he was a professor and his boss threatened to fire him and not to employ the heroine when she would have graduated. Oh, his boss wasn’t the president of the United States or any similar powerful leader, so we can well guess that maybe he and the heroine could have gone to another town and have found other jobs in other uni. Or maybe they could have emigrated to the USA or in any other place the hero’s boss wasn’t boss, that is everywhere but that specific university where he was teaching. I know I’m being bitchy but his reason was selfish and shows no love for the heroine. And he could have at least showed up at his damned marriage. But don’t worry, he regretted his decision. He lived four years unhappy, with his wonderful job and his big money, because you have to know that he was loaded, so imagine how he must have suffered in those pitiful and deprived conditions, while the heroine, well the heroine after being jilted, came back home and found out her alcoholic father had eloped with all her savings so she had to stop her studies and work three jobs to keep her and her lil bro. But don’t worry, she makes him pay. No! Not at all! We readers don’t even have that lil satisfaction because she forgives him basically after only one week, because he left his job and wants to live like an hermit thinking how wrong he was to leaves the heroine and how unimportant is that job that he wanted more than the heroine. Sorry this is one of the most idiotic thing I’ve read recently and believe me I’ve read many. And the whole dark streak with the religious hints where he would be her god and she is his supplicant are really ridiculous. Ridiculous because it refers to a love which is above all and everyone but when you read the book you wonder, where is this great stellar love? Where, when the moment the hero had to chose between his so called great love and his career he chose his career without even a doubt? Without even talking to her about his choice? And if there was no love at least could he show her a lil respect and tell her what he thought and what he was about to do? No! He didn’t even have respect for her, not at all. All I see is a man and a woman who are horny and want to have sex all the time. Yes, ok, it’s good, sex is good but I would like to know what will they have when all their enthusiasm fades? You already have your answer. And no, I don’t even care that he was celibate for years. Love means that your beloved comes before everyone and everything. That you don’t want to hurt him /her and tries to do everything in your power not to hurt them. This one was another big disappointment. It seemed to me more an erotica than a romance. And not a good one, because religious kinks don’t do anything for me. ...more |

Warning: trigger. This is about a married couple who is into sub/ dom relationship and enjoy kinky sex BDSM also in public and in clubs with other part Warning: trigger. This is about a married couple who is into sub/ dom relationship and enjoy kinky sex BDSM also in public and in clubs with other partners (consensual) I didn’t enjoy it at all because it’s not a thing I understand. I mean, I know there’s this kind of relationships and it’s ok if both agree and are happy with the arrangement but I’m so not into it that I feel disconnected from the story. So if you don’t like this kind of book you’d better not read it. The story would be good in itself, this married couple is happy because he’s a dom and she’s his sub and they are so in love with each other, lately the hero is always busy with his job ( he’s very ambitious) and his wife feels neglected. In one particular evening when they have a date he’s very late and when eventually she, tired of waiting for him, is going out of the restaurant, she sees him at the bar with a woman. She’s angry and hurt, but he explains ow is a very important client who will bring much money to his business. He’s trying to win her trust. The heroine tells her husband he’s not the same and she misses his attentions. In a sub dom relationship the dom takes care of his sub in obvious kinky ways and I laughed so much because he tries to be a better husband spanking his wife and forcing her to kneel for hours so she’s so happy that he takes care of her. Lol! No sorry I just can’t. Just when the hero is redeeming himself with a grand gesture he commits an unforgivable sin. He organizes a night at the kinky club with his wife where she’s used and beaten by another man under the instructions of the hero. The heroine is thrilled! Dumb me that I still think that my perfect night out with hubby dear involves dinner in vip restaurant, flowers and if he wants to beat it all, a jewel too! Yes yes sorry, Im so quaint! And I lack fantasy! The heroine instead is so happy she has to walk naked among strangers while her husband takes her on a leash and tells a strange man to beat her and sodomize her! Wow! Whatever. Each one their own. (I still take the dinner and jewel) But hints don’t go well because the hero receives a call from his ow client and leaves his wife to this stranger who’s a sadist and beats her a lil too hard. Ops… I didn’t know but the hero broke the capital rule of sub dom. The dom has to take care of his sub, and he didn’t. So wife is now feeling she can’t trust his dom any more and leaves him for good. The hero is shattered: he understands that his wife is more important than everything and he changes his lifestyle and his job to be the man his wife deserves. And this, even if I don’t understand such a relationship, was really cute. Because, no matter how weird those two people are and how kinky they like their sex, they really love one another and the hero loves his wife more than anything else. About cheating. They like their sex very kinky but they agree and they share everything. Emotionally they are an exclusive couple but physically they enjoy this club where peculiar things happens. So if you like exclusivity this book may not be for you. I’m not rating this one because it would be unfair since I found it very far from what I like in a romance, but it was an interesting experience into bdsm world. I found the angsty part more exhilarating than angsty because come on, if you go to a bdsm club and ask a strange man to beat you and to sodomize you and then it turns out he’s a sadist well, I’m not saying that you deserve it but man, it’s something of a professional risk no? Jeez I’m confused. Oh and from my professional pov these things are accepted if both agree. Some psychologists think they are perversions but I’m not sure they have to be treated as disorders if they don’t harm mentally and physically. It’s something of a tricky subject. Maya banks is a very talented writer that writes many different types of stories, some of her hp and her historical are really good and passionate, and definitely I prefer those to this one. If you want you can read this one with an open mind. ...more |

Well if this heroine doesn't give as much as she takes... Another spineless hero who cheats on his wife, and with her bff who has also been his PA for Well if this heroine doesn't give as much as she takes... Another spineless hero who cheats on his wife, and with her bff who has also been his PA for years. What a shabby affair. The book opens with the heroine going away for some days for her job, and having found out her husband's affair with bff for some days. They were high school sweethearts and they were each other first. They basically grew up together and were each other's soulmate. Until they weren't. The book is written in 1st person pov, the heroine's. So we don't know what happened to the hero, it's not explained. He and ow were travelling together as usual for their business, and he had been drinking too much ending in bed with ow. A ONS that he didn't want but ow did, because she was flirting with him and basically she was after him for years. The bitch. The heroine can't understand why her husband cheated on her, because she thought they were happy. She never even looked at another man. All her certainties about her life with him crumble leaving her unsteady and unsure. She leaves and meets a man, a gorgeous sexy man who asks her for a drink. She accepts and suddenly she feels attracted to him and decides to have a ONS. The ONS becomes two because sex with the stranger is explosive and then she finds out he's her new boss. The cheating scumbag is trying to win her back but after that marvelous bout of sex the heroine thinks that after all their love is not sooo great otherwise both of them wouldn't have cheated on the other. So she decides to dump her husband and explore her new relationship with om. He's not into serious relationships, and usually only has ONS, so he promises great hot sex and the heroine, after being committed all her life and being betrayed by the two people who she loved most, thinks that after all sex without strings is all that she needs, and they go on with their affair. I must admit the book is a refreshing change because for once the heroine doesn't pine and suffer in silence and takes back the hero. I understand why she had sex with om first. She was really committed to her husband, and she admits she never even thought of another man. If her husband hadn't cheated she would have never had sex with om. When husband basically destroyed what they had, she started to look around and to see things (and men) she didn't notice before. Like how gorgeous and sexy another man could be. Like how exciting is to be admired, to be told she's beautiful, to see lust and desire in the eyes of a man. She had her self esteem shattered because when a woman is betrayed she thinks her man doesn't find her beautiful and desirable any more. I don't see her action as cheating since her marriage was basically broken. I see her affair as a band-aid. I don't think she did it as tit for tat, she simply didn't feel committed any more. And who would blame her. After all she spent all her life with her husband, she never even had another man before him and he was all her life until he betrayed her. She was trying to have her self confidence back. Then she found out that sex with om was even better than with her husband and she started doubting that she and her husband really love each other. The whole book is basically about her and om, with much sex between them. We don't know how her husband found his ons but we know the heroine enjoyed sex with om veeeery veery much. And I, nasty bitch that I am, feminist and man-hater that I am, enjoyed this fact. I'm so sick and tired of books writing about men cheating because they are temped as if women can't be tempted and enjoy sex. The hero here was the usual weak man who blamed the heroine because she was too busy with her job, a job she liked and that fulfilled her as a woman. I'm tired of hearing men blaming their women for their failures. Instead of being proud of his woman's success, instead of being happy to have a woman who is not frustrated and dependent on him, this lil a**hole cheated on her because the heroine had something other than him to think about and ow was all over him. And stop blaming ow. He was the one who was married. He was the one who cheated. Yes, she was heroine's bff, but she wasn't married to her. So it was his decision to cheat. There are two things I don't agree with. Not only here but in other books too. First. The hero and the heroine have been together forever, and this is viewed as something that can favor cheating, that is, if you didn't have many sexual experiences you will regret it in future. Not at all. There are many many couples who have been together since they were teenagers and never ever felt tempted by other persons. If a couple is strong and their love is true, there's no need to have other partners to feel happy and satisfied- even sexually. After all, when a person breaks up with a partner this is a failed attempt because it means he/she wasn't "the one", otherwise they will stay together. And it's not true that more experienced partners make better and more faithful partners. The second issue. Cheating happens. To everybody. Bullshit. There are people who will never ever cheat on a partner, even if they have troubles and issues. It's a matter of how a person is and not if they have the chance or the temptation. Maybe this is true in the teenage years, when boys and girls drinks and push their limits and lose their self sometimes, but it's never true in adult ones. People are different. There are woman and men who cheat- more than once- and there are women and men who never cheat. So this vain effort to portrait the cheating heroes (adult ones) as basically good husbands who love their wives and are temporarily led astray by femmes fatale, nope, is not correct. Sorry not sorry. Then I must admit I will read book two because unfortunately this one ends with a cliffhanger, that is something I don't like and the main reason I gave 2 stars. Because I want to know how the writer will deal with the change in the heroine's life. I don't like that she - apparently- decided that om was a manipulator and a deceiver and the heroine was better with her cheating husband. Om could have been a wonderful reformed rake, but no, the heroine must stay with the loser. Grrrrrr... (to be continued) ...more |

A word to describe this book: grotesque. And not in a sarcastic way. I still can’t make up my mind about the feelings it brings out in me. Angst? Not at A word to describe this book: grotesque. And not in a sarcastic way. I still can’t make up my mind about the feelings it brings out in me. Angst? Not at all. Anger? Nope. Boredom? Not even that. I think I was most of the time perplexed. Because a book can be well written and easy to read but still be lacking something you can’t explain. It starts very well as usually this author’s books. The hero’s brother in law describes to the hero how he got involved with his children’s 17 yo nanny, how and when they had sex and how eventually the heroine got pregnant. He asks the hero to solve his problem. The hero listens carefully to all these sexual prowess and - instead of being angry and disgusted that his 30 something bil seduced a minor and knocked her up, he’s faintly aroused and interested in this lil young hottie. This is the first inconsistency. There are many others. He should beat the crap out of the jerk. But nope, he accepts to solve the problem. That in his language it means he will kill the nanny. The barely of age pregnant nanny. Well, so you expect he is some kind of mob boss or someone involved- seriously- with criminals because who would be so cold as to kill a teenager because his shitty bil knocked her up? Instead of, maybe, paying her off and sending her somewhere far away. So he goes to the nanny’s house and when he sees her he decides not to kill her but to kidnap her instead and to take her to his house. Because he is curious about the things his bil described to him. So he threatens her to kill her if she doesn’t do anything he asks and he has sex with her. So now we have our two main characters, a criminal hero and a slutty teenager heroine with very lil morals. And yeah everything bil said about her is true, she had an affair with said married man, she had unprotected sex with him several times ending up pregnant and now that she met the hero she is quite happy to be at his house for some days and to have sex with him. Because he’s much better lover than bil. Just like that. The hero on the other hand, has a personality transplant and we find out that no, he’s no mafia boss or hitman at all, he is a 35 yo bachelor with a bar, who isn’t even a manho and has only killed one man in his life, a junkie who was his sister’s fiancé and betrayed her and the hero sleeping with hero’s girlfriend. But he turns out to be a nice good chap, even better than the silly heroine who is clueless and obviously unable to show some maturity in her choices for life. He sends her back home because he can’t have an affair with the woman who is pregnant with his bil, and asks her not to see the man again. The heroine has already had enough of om, and is now ready to go on with her life, but of course the hero can’t stay away from her and they meet again and again until she tells his sister she’s pregnant and the hero is the father. This hero is an exception for this author: not at all cruel and merciless, he’s quite cute and mature and responsible, surely very much more that the heroine. He even decides he will marry her and keeps her child as his own, and that’s the other big inconsistency. Why in the beginning the hero’s bil asks him to get rid of the heroine if he’s not a criminal and he only killed a man once - maybe- because it was never proved, and the hero’s bil doesn’t know he did it??? And why did the hero accept to kill a pregnant teenager if he’s not a mob boss? It doesn’t make sense. The hero during all the book is very nice and jealous of the heroine, but even if his sisters tells her he is pathologically jealous we don’t really see it, I’m fact it’s quite understandable that he’s wary and doesn’t trust the heroine since she had an affair with a married man and wasn’t even too sorry for it. It takes time to build trust. So, the hero is meek and nice and the book could have been 100 pages shorter because there’s not much happening after he and the heroine decides to get married. Bil decides he wants the heroine again and cause troubles, and the end was OTT in a grotesque and unusual way. I was like WTF all the time, because it is so very not probable that two normal people would behave like those two characters in the end. There’s no psychological consistency. The heroine doesn’t bat an eyelid when she finds out the hero killed a man, and she behaves as if it’s normal behavior and the hero is completely nice until he isn’t but he’s also very emphatic and this is not consistent with such behavior. I was more amused and surprised than anguished in the end. There’s not one character in this book that I liked, not a single one. Not the main characters, nor bil, or the hero’s sister or the heroine’s mother and sister. Not the heroine’s date, nobody at all. I liked the description of the heroine’s family with grandpa always sleeping in his armchair because he’s an alcoholic- but a nice one who always sleeps, and both sister and mother who have several children at a very young age and are without a partner. And the heroine follows their example, sadly. So I felt pity for the poor hero when he tried to tell the heroine’s mother they were getting married and her mother flirted with him. Jeez what a sleazy situation. But very poignant. I think the book was a weird one, not a romance for sure, with some of the most bizarre and unlikely characters ever and some of the most unpleasant sex scene ever- and I’m not a prude. I don’t know if many can appreciate such book, there’s cheating, murder, pregnancy with a married man and rape. But if you don’t take it seriously- not at all- you can enjoy a story unlike many others. ...more |
