A lot of it felt like the author had a word count that needed to be hit making them throw in extra for the fun of it. The writing and conversations often felt clunky and like everything needed to be spelled out for the reader. Even in the prologue it felt like there were contradictions in addition to lots of words. "She morphed into her father's personal monster but never lost her kind heart, even if it was damaged. She gathered all the pain that was dealt to her and forged herself into a weapon that she vowed to one day turn on the kingdom, forcing them to suffer her wrath for all they had taken from her." So she became her father's nightmare, but kept her kind heart, but also promises to burn her kingdom to the ground?
It just went down hill from there. I made it to page 72 (18%) and had to call it....more

Paige has supposedly been madly in love with Adam for the entire 6 years she has worked at the bakers even though she doesn't speak to him and only sees him for his Friday bakery visit. Adam has been friends with benefits with a female shifter for the past 10 years and thought they would mate one day even though they weren't fated so he somehow hasn't noticed Paige is his mate, he only noticed Paige now because the female shifter found her true mate.
Paige happens to see two wolves shift but blames it on "bad mushrooms" and then blurts everything out when she goes to the feed store with Adam. He "breaks her heart" by kissing her then running away. She doesn't even know he ran away to sniff around every available female wolf that is currently at the ranch hoping the bond he now feels to Paige will transfer......more

I can't. Interesting premise, but the writing absolutely killed it for me. The way the author wrote the characters and the actual story so far are not drawing me in, it makes them feel way younger than late 20s and early 30s and the story doesn't really make sense.
Weland is 4 years into a 5 year contract "marriage" with a guy she has never met and she doesn't even know his name. She is living alone in a condo supposedly making her money off guitar lessons because no one can know she was paid to marry a stranger so she has to "live within her means" to not raise suspicion but this seems like a stretch. It would be more believable with a roommate.
She tells the lawyer she's tired of being alone and is going to hook up with a guy at the bar when she goes out to a bachelorette party with her friends. She then actually meets a guy at the bar she could be interested in and is trying to figure out how to ask him to wait a year without breaking her contract when her "friends" leave her behind to go to the next bar. This leads to her bringing Sterling home with her, leaving him alone in her house while she walks a dog she suddenly loves hours after not even wanting one, and then she invites this complete stranger to spend the night on her couch.
Sterling had to marry someone due to his aunt's will demanding he be married for 5 years or he loses his inheritance to his greedy cousins. This leads to him showing up to the bar because the lawyer saying Weland was lonely made him panic and he wanted to make sure she didn't actually hook up with anyone. He says he cares about her safety which was why he refused to let her get home alone in a taxi (because a stranger insisting to ride home with you is so much better, which she thinks about and dismisses) but has had zero contact with her since they began this arrangement 4 years ago. He mentions his cousins are suspicious but because there is no trail to Weland they can't prove his marriage is a sham? Somehow he has explained away her not attending any family events, no wedding, no pictures together, and them never even meeting her. ...more

I got bored. She would be mad at him for all of two seconds then be fine. I get it, he ghosted you 17 years ago and you’re pissed, I would be too. But the back and forth got old. I didn’t care for his Aunt Maggie meddling in everything either and both Hannah and Tom being mad but then fine with it. The story also felt repetitive - for example, I don’t know how many times it was mentioned he was sent to London for acting out and was able to turn it around. ...more
