This book is a masterpiece for real and yeah it took me a while to finish but thats just showing how awesome it is, and man what a found footage kind This book is a masterpiece for real and yeah it took me a while to finish but thats just showing how awesome it is, and man what a found footage kind of book if I can use that because at the time of publication it didn't exist but its kinda like that, Dracula is barely there even though his is the title of the book but this is the brilliance of this book.
Its like every great thing about this book can be told because of that simple thing like it starts off with Jonathan harker arriving at Castle dracula and from the outset you see the creepy and gothic atmosphere and people warning him that he is going to the devil's place and what that brings in and its awesome how the mood is set and from his journals you see how he is losing himself seeing weird things that builds up the character of Dracula and is brilliant for real.
I like how the author took his time with it and rather than introduced other characters too he takes 1/5th of the book to show Jonathan and how he is trapped there and the weird character that is Dracula and how Jonathan sort of escapes or does he?
Then skipping to show other characters mainly MINA HARKER (later on) whose supposed to get married to Jonathan above and we focus on her story and Lucy and I love how the author writes her, and she maybe my favorite character in the book for a variety of reasons but through her we focus on her character and also meet Ms Lucy Westenra and her fiancee Arthur Holmwood and I love their introduction and how the author takes his time to show you all and the tragedy that stucks Lucy and the build aup and exposition and how that brings in Dr JAMES SEWARD and his mentor Abraham VAN HELSING, my other fav character in the book.. I love it and yeah its slow but then again its the brilliance of Stoker and his writing showing these character and their journal entries primarily James is the best, about how Lucy turns to vampire and trying to expose her or save her and the whole emotional thing with Arthur is hard to read, how perfectly the author catches the brilliance of the threat of DRACULA is shown here and its emotional losing your loved one and its an actual horror and maybe my fav horror book of all time.
Then showing Jonathan's rescue and our other characters all meeting up sharing facts about this creature and learning about vampires and their mythology and who their enemy is aka Dracula and thats like another 100 page or so and yeah its a slow build up or something but then again thats brilliance isn't it? We see who this mysterious enemy really is when they exchange their journals or notes and yeah the expositions or dialogues of Van helsing are my favorite, he is just so good a character, he is a clear hearted man who wants to help and is courageous and it shows and his love for Mina is amazingly shown here for when what happens to her happens.. its a struggle for him and thats when all the pieces are set for the climax and it maybe the most well written or earned one I will say.
The author just makes it the "HUNT FOR DRACULA" about their confrontations and how our cast chases him and tries to find him and the travel journals and dialogues and yeah you may burn out there as it demands your full attention when you are reading it, but its this thrill chase with Mina's life at stake for what happens to her, and how emotionally exhausting and challenging it is for out characters and when the big moment happens (view spoiler)[ aka JONATHAN STABBING DRACULA (hide spoiler)] thats the moment where you're like "finally" and its all a built upto it, and you kinda let out a hype too, because its that amazing build up of suspense and horror amidst this gothic backdrop and our characters who have been through a lot and you are connected with them and want something right to happen for them, and its just again.. saying for the nth time.. amazing writing.
I love how the author creates the tension and shows how Mina was the one who remained strong in the face of everything and considering the time it was written, she is one of the best female characters in fiction as she embodies so many things.
I love how this Novel is so forward thinking even during that era and remains a work of brilliant writing and character writing especially as all these characters are memorable and embody something or the other, you can go deep rabbit hole digging it up and see how remarkable it is.
It has tropes which established the vampire lore, and is the premier horror book that defined all the books that came after it even a century letter and you can trace a lot. Like I said the compliments this book gets is well deserved, you should definitely read it and I am sure you will have a good time especially if you are reading it in the halloween month of October!...more

The story of how the school disappears and rathe than focusing on panic and survival and violence even in such situations is so well done, seeing characters react to the whole thing really makes this such a compelling read and especially violence towards children.. which is hard to read sometimes and I guess sits survival horror? The setting seems like they may have been transported to another world and maybe the monsters may come soon but lets see.
This was another great one omg as we get to see another key aka "Head key" like which opens your head and you can put memories out and like put thingsThis was another great one omg as we get to see another key aka "Head key" like which opens your head and you can put memories out and like put things in too and we see Bode's siblings learn about it and I love how the focus shifts to them plus their new friend "Zack wells" aka Echo demon and my god the twist is great and what he does to people since he has taken the face of someone from the past which some adults know like Duncan and what he does to them is insane and we get to see the secret that Zack has over Ellie and omg its messed up and I like how dark it gets!
Plus the big stuff of whats happening to others and I like the development that Kinsey and Tyler get here omg, its so fun. Its like one of those psychological horror issues and its the subtle things here which makes you appreciate it more, and I love the art here again, you can see the artist is getting good with constant issues and its always great to see!...more
It starts off in this crazy manner with the death of the father and then his children and wife moving to their ancestral This one was really good omg!
It starts off in this crazy manner with the death of the father and then his children and wife moving to their ancestral house "Keyhouse" and their youngest son Bode getting access to a key and going through some bizarre and magical moments like going through a gate and becoming corporeal and all that and then meeting some strange devil in a pit "echo" something and the adventures unfold and we see different POVs like his brother Tyler or his sister Kinsey and like how are they coping with what happened, and when the killer "Sam Lesser" is released and makes his way to their new home, how will they survive? How is the devil in the pit connected to him? What really are these keys and some "Anywhere key"?
Its upto Bode to solve it and I love the way its set up and has as its forefront this young protagonist and that makes the story so much better and like a fresh read for people, the innocence of the young mind really makes for great stories and then the horror you feel is amazing, and the mystery being set up with the Locks and keys and how his father may have a secret. I really like how the writer made me care for all these characters in just a few pages and thats hallmark of a good writing.
The art was great too, good lines, sizes were good, but its the colors that really makes it pop but when there are horror/scary moments, it gets a bit dark color wise and its perfect, heightening the tension you as a reader feel. So yeah one of those perfect comics I will highly recommend! ...more
This was an amazing read and omg maybe my fav Hill house comic I have read so far. The story is like a crew of a ship missing and then signals coming This was an amazing read and omg maybe my fav Hill house comic I have read so far. The story is like a crew of a ship missing and then signals coming 40 yeras later so a salvage crew sent to rescue them and find out some secret and the crew is the people like Carpenter brothers aka Gage, Clark and Russell and Moriah, another diver/biologist and some others but what we find our crew seeing over the course of the series will change a lot of things and then the character work done is brilliant, the slow mysteries unravelling, what are these creatures haunting them and the big stuff with the crew that happened and so much more, mysticism, cosmic horror, fear of the depths/unknown, and a solid ending filled with heart <3!
This series has it all, over the course of the series I really started to love all the Carpenter brothers and seeing how they are ready for sacrificing themselves was brilliant and that feeling made this an even better read ad then the big threat (which could have used a issue or two) but regardless makes for a good threat and by the end has you hooked and delivers on a solid ending, plus the art of Immonen which makes this series even better! I will highly recommend it for maybe a day you feel like in horror spirit or on Halloween days!...more

Its one of those stories thats very predictable but not also, as it shows the great build up of horror with you slowly learning of the character and the entity inhabiting her plus also the atmosphere of the time which was brilliantly portrayed (art-wise) by Kelley Jones, master of horror art I will say, and then the writing had a predictable but good ending as we get to see it all come together. Overall it feels like a good one time read, it combines elements of the usual horror trope but in an interesting way and its the art that will have you hooked for more....more

We see the fallout of the last volume and people interested in these creatures but also Parasytes running for political positions which creates another fascinating angle but what I liked is how we see some people start suspecting our boy Izumi and how Tamiya is after him and how he will manage that and also this volume was heart-hitting as we have to deal with (view spoiler)[ Kana's death (hide spoiler)]. It does raise the stake and everything is coming together very nicely and it will be interesting to see how will Izumi and Migi escape the situation they will find themselves in with multiple people after them and the threat of Parasytes increasing and the lead changing too. Fascinating questions....more

We basically follow Izumi as he fights his new foe Hideo as he goes berserk and the majority of the volume is pretty much what he does to the school and the public knowing of it and like how do they react to it and I like the way the author shows that even the authorities are reacting to it now really well and now how does that make Izumi's life more difficult and girl troubles never stop with him between Kana and Murano! Its an excellent volume and I love the pacing of it and a must recommend from my side! It just gets haunting and more creepy now!...more
I am still giving it a 3 star because of the art but its not that good.
This time we follow Tadashi as he wakes up after a month and well the underworlI am still giving it a 3 star because of the art but its not that good.
This time we follow Tadashi as he wakes up after a month and well the underworld creatures have taken over and its interesting following the death spiral of it and what happens to his uncle and GF and the nightmare the world has become, this creatures and what will be the end and will he rescue his GFs body and what will he do next to save the world sort of but it ends?
Its a very strange volume and unlike Uzumaki its very uneven and doesn't even have a proper ending and maybe its a horror world where everything goes wrong and one thing I like was how he saved his GFs corpse and the thing surrounding it but yeah that was a struggle to read through and there are some short stories like holes appearing in mountains and people being compelled to enter it and the horror it brings.. ehh its alright but its very weird and was kinda bad.
I have mixed feelings about this volume as on one hand there is a fantastic premise but the story seems to lose itself somewhere and all that. So maybe good for a one time read or skip it....more
This was a pretty terrifying read and i kinda liked it.
It starts with Kaori and Tadashi a couple on vacation when his gf is attacked by a flying fish This was a pretty terrifying read and i kinda liked it.
It starts with Kaori and Tadashi a couple on vacation when his gf is attacked by a flying fish and she can't bear the smell and he tries to get rid of it but it doesn't work but what follows is an interesting phenomenon as the fish are coming out of the water and well kinda targeting the whole country and it becomes a national crisis and an end of the world scenario and thus we follow Tadashi as he teams up with his uncle Dr Koyanagi and we discover this mysterious origins of this creatures and its deep horrifying secrets but when it hits home for Tadashi, what will happen?
Its a very terrifying book for sure and the art does itself great justice and makes it more haunting, you feel the sense of dread reading it and Ito doesn't miss one beat as he shows the horrifying creatures of the deep like they are right out of Jaws and its well done. The characters and situations are well established and it compels you to read the next volume together! A must recommend!...more

As Izumi and Uda team up to fight the parasyte that has inhabited the formers mothers its an emotional and turbulent battle and I like the stakes here and it makes it a better read but the next thing is when we see how fast Izumi is changing not just personality wise but also physically and interesting development with Kana and Mitsuo and some great new villains like Hideo and whatever is going on with Tamiya and now maybe the govt agencies are involved and people are starting to notice the monsters amidst them?
Its an interesting volume and changes so many things and raises stakes and I love it! It raises the tensions and shows a profound change in the protagonist and as it does it, it shows how threatful these beings are and add public hysteria to it, you can understand that the author is trying to subtly give a message and its really well done. Aside from that I love the world building here and it makes it so much better to read plus the art keeps getting better. Its a very deep psych exploration and I can't wait to read future volumes!...more

Izumi is fighting A-chan and well wins maybe and then there is something with Tamiya and what happens to her and she maybe changing and a future threat but the big story is what happens to his mother while his parents are on vacation and what will he do to protect his father and some interesting revelations? This volume totally throws a curveball at the entire manga and makes the stake much more personal and hard hitting and I am loving it! Its an interesting one, the emotional angle is good and the sense of dread and panic settles in and so makes for a good read then!...more

Shinchi Izumi is attached to a parasite in his right arm and well things go south when we see him trying to live with it and trying to kill it but is content later as they seem to live well together but when other Parasytes start showing up, can they team up to stop them and also some intelligent Parasyte seem to be emerging like the ones named Tamiya and A-chan and what will happen then...
Its an interesting manga and takes this premise and does really well with it showing the carnage these parasites can bring and I love the character exploration and the way with which the author expands on this myth and shows thee monsters and explore different themes based on them. Some pages are so creepy and look horrific and delivers on its premise. A must recommend!...more

This was a crazy goddamn good book and any compliments will be less to describe the masterpiece it is.
Kurozu-Cho is a town and it maybe haunted and we follow this girl Kirie Goshima and then through her we see how her boyfriend Shuichi Saito's family gets haunted like what happens with his father, then mother, then the strange happenings at her school with her friends turning into spiral beings or even snails and whatnot and finally what happens to her hair and the haunting it happens but when the tornado starts and we see the spiral for what it is and whats happening to the town, the hurricanes and whirlpool and whatnot and when they have to survive in this apocalyptic piece of land and strange things are revealed, it will change everything we know about anything. And how it will impact Kirie and Saito and change them forever for what is the spiral?
Its an amazingly haunting book and Ito's masterwork and I love the imagery here, some drawings will haunt your sleep like its so well drawn and finally the horror that Kirie experiences like wow like with her cousin and her baby and that was haunting, we still don't get the origins of the spiral so maybe thats why its more intriguing and makes this manga much better in that strange weird way. Its a very haunting book with solid plot and great scares and horror and is so worth it and makes for an amazing read! I highly recommend it!...more

Okay this story is about a girl June Branch who is with the love of her life and they are making plans for vacation when everything goes wrong or rather everything wrong gets exposed, I am getting ahead of myself but the story takes a turn when her bf is kidnapped and she has to rescue him meanwhile navigating serial killers on the loose and the secret of the town and the people around her that will haunt her, plus she has this supernatural viking axe that if it cuts someones head doesn't kill them but just segregates their head from the body. Can June along with her axe and her basketful of heads save her bf plus the wild secrets she will discover. Plus so many revelations and dark themes and the spine tingling horror.
Its one of those books I had been wanting to read for a long time and finally did and I love it, this is Hill at his best and he does it wonderfully showcasing the dark themes, the slow unrevealing of secrets, the "he is not how you know him" kinda vibe, the many characters that make up the heads, the slow exposition and all that is all very good, the art by Leomacs next level as he shows the heads being lopped off in a brutal manner, and the moody atmosphere. All in all a great read!...more
