But underneath you'll find racist overtones and a vigilante 'organization' that gives me the creeps. Maybe I'm just extra aware due to the current political climate, but the fact that these guys go around assassinating people (and often deciding themselves who should be killed) was a big red flag for me. ...more

In my world you don't accidentally mention that your father is a movie star unless you want to deal with your co-workers' comments. And I wasn't impressed that she created an unauthorized fireworks display ignoring her co-workers own work. But I liked Chan - a great book boyfriend!...more

Let's start with the good stuff. I really liked the Tudor history angle - the MCs are history teachers who also portray Henry & Anne as living history actors. It reminded me a bit of Well Met, where the MCs are free to express their feelings when they're playing a character.

Sarah Morgan does an excellent job with the mash-up of women's fiction + Christmas. Imogen's early story was difficult to read because her 'mother' was so vile and abusive, but it was lovely to see all that change.
I do wish the romance had been a bit more prominent - it felt like something of an after-thought. But then that often happens in the women's fiction genre....more

There's lots of love for Agatha Christie in this Christmas mystery rom-com. The English country manor setting, the murder mystery doyenne, the denouement scene, and even whodunnit, all have ties to Christie. I'm also a sucker for a 'he falls first' romance, and this one was particularly sweet....more
