it was sweet, it was well written (cannot stop gushing bout dangerfield's skill), it was insta lust, it was not my thang.
like, it started out intriguing (as most eve dangerfield's book does for me), both characters had nice personality. then at page 50 theyre agreeing to fuck already cause he found out she likes to be tied up (captor/captive shit), another kink sex, as expected from eve but its kinda boring. i mean i do like kinks in books sometimes if done right w a twist, not insta doing-something-bout-the-lust like this. anyway he had a condition though, and that is to take her on 3 dates before fucking her cause he wanted her to feel safe around him even outside of bed. aaaaand idk man, that doesnt sound like a fun story to me. theyre just getting to know each other, and despite having to admit its sweet im not interested in reading pages of 2 ppl dating only.
realistic, but not my cuppa. how i miss slowburns where they get together only after 70% mark and before that its just friends who're attracted to one another and doesnt do shit bout it (but kept getting thrown into compromising situations ofc). HOW I MISS U MZ
ps. cannot say im surprised i didnt like this, am just finding out its co written w tessa bailey (the woman can write but ive never connected w her brand of insta lust/love/romance/dating. shes so good at insta that even her books that were considered 'slowburns' by the folks felt way too insta for me)...more

they are readable n dont get u stuck on one page, keeps u flipping the pages, but not smth that managed to evoke any emotion outta me. i felt like they had no buildup, jase & kazi. n the whole time i just found myself thinking how boring they are as individuals and how even more boring they would be in modern day world...more

and so the chemistry felt great (coz im biased. they reminded me of mz). the writing though, was simply exhausting
the red wedding plot was so promising. but the execution, eh. the heroes arent ruthless (aka hot) enough for me n the chemistry/plot was so so lacklusthe red wedding plot was so promising. but the execution, eh. the heroes arent ruthless (aka hot) enough for me n the chemistry/plot was so so lackluster

’He wanted to tell her that looking at her felt like gazing into the setting sun. As much as her brilliance blinded him, he couldn’t bear to tear his eyes away. Couldn’t live with missing a single second. He wanted her to know that he had watched her happiness from the outside for all those years, but he had never known the true meaning of warmth until he had been a part of it. That he never could have imagined what it would feel like to be the one she was looking at when she smiled. To be the reason why.’

He nodded and cleared his throat. “What did Nick do to get slapped?” Her face split into a wicked grin, and she reached up and patted him twice on the cheek, hard. “Just don’t fuck up.” She turned to head back into the sitting room, and he had to adjust himself in his trousers before following.
when they allegedly hated each other @ school but gave clues w/ personal informations in a heads up game>>>
“We rode this to school every year!” he called out. “A train!” she guessed immediately. “Harry and Ron nearly died in this kind of tree!” “A willow!” “Your favourite dessert!” “Ice cream!” “The colour of your dress at the Yule Ball!” “P-periwinkle...” “Yes!” “Time!” Shannon called. Draco was thrilled. In addition to his clues, she’d also guessed something called a helicopter, beetles (though it was misspelled on the card), and Leonardo DiCaprio. The other team had taken an early lead due, in part, to his lackluster first round, and now that Granger had put them solidly ahead, he was determined to continue the streak. On his next turn, he was able to guess the first clue—penguin—from Janelle’s description. Then Granger was on a roll. “You always drink this at Christmas!” “Cider?” He was surprised she knew that. “You hate this animal!” “The Weasel,” he said with a smirk. She looked so annoyed it was almost worth losing the point. But not quite. “Fine, a ferret.” He flipped the card. “OH! Pansy’s Valentine’s Day gift to you in fifth year!” He gaped at her. She was hopping up and down, hands outstretched as if she could pull the answer out of his mouth. “Cufflinks,” he said quietly.
the potential man
biggest downside is this. they made me feel like. well. theyre v emotional individuals, their thoughts, like i said, these saps have the tendency to dwell way too much on unnecessary sentimental pathetic shit that made me dozed off plentya times. and yet. theres so much more emotional (+delicious angst) development i found in other fics where they started out as enemies w/ benefits. ie, breathmints/battlescars (if i remember correctly), or the fallout i think also has that. its like this had the opposite of everything i wanted, theyr fucking emotional over each other so early (in a it makes u loses-ur-interest way) AND fucked even sooner. it just felt a lil out of character for the ver of draco i prefer (coz lets bfr, theres countless draco ff, they arent gon be the same). both lead felt in short, uninteresting
as i said first 1/4 was promising enough. the smut killed the bonding for me personally. last half i would say not worth the read...more

☄️ no relationship development i consider a relationship development. looks to me stone & jovie were the only decent beings around n the author just paired em up together coz theres noone better left
☄️ the whole jude situation was frustrating n plays a huge part on why i couldnt enjoy it more. (while also being the only plot there is in the book?) but its actually the reason i made it far up to the end as well. do i wish the mcs didnt have to be surrounded by the stupidity that is jude’s circumstances? ofc, i feel like they would go so much further in life w/o this waste of air, but he’s also the only thing their romance story got. so i rlly wouldve dnf much sooner had it was just ab stone n jovie remeeting
in conclusion i didnt acc like the book, barely tolerated it. but i finished smth yey (barely)...more

i liked viktoria ;
'Already, the man had backed off. With his shopping basket in hand, he walked away shaking his head the whole time. Yet another person that would recognize Viktoria’s face the next time they came face to face. The first thing they would remember about her was the fact that she was a bitch, and they would keep their distance. In some ways, she liked that. In others, it irritated her. Bitch was meant to be a slur—she just fucking owned it now. She would rather be seen as a bitch by people than easy prey. If being a bitch meant people stayed far away from her at all times, then that was perfectly fine with her.'
so tbh the mood for this book was a lil gloomy. it felt dark, the vibes and all, which was why dramatic sentences like 'im not like everyone else' didnt feel ott bcs it felt that way when i read ab them. being in their head was.. not depressing but i can feel theyre depressed
“You know, you should get out of the Compound more often.” Pav’s gaze darted back to hers. “Why?” “You look good out in the light like everyone else.” Pretending to be normal. Acting like you fit in. Just like me. He did smile that time. Wide and beautiful. Sinful, even. She wondered if he could read her mind. Was that possible? “Except I’m not like everyone else, Viktoria.” She shrugged. “Yeah, me either.”
it was surprisingly not bad, just a bit too insta lovey & not enough romance for me (also idk whether its me who couldnt connect w/ pav & vik or it was intentional to make their characters felt dead lmao)
