I blame myself (and all of my alter egos) for feeling the need to read overhyped books at the behest of Bookstagram and Booktok (especially after THOUI blame myself (and all of my alter egos) for feeling the need to read overhyped books at the behest of Bookstagram and Booktok (especially after THOUSANDS of readers all over the world preached about how painful this book was and how they were sobbing too hard to focus on the words. Which, again, made it seem like this book was UP THERE with the champions) . They almost always end up being lackluster and sadly, this was no different.
Now, don't shoot me for this porfavor! The things IN the book were real and painful and raw and all, but the way the book itself was written? The they-meet-three-times-then-already-rolled- in -the-metaphorical-hay-fifty seven times 'meh' romance that if presented better would've added so much to the storyline, instead, it made me dislike the book overall to be honest.
The best things were probably the fmc and the plot twists. The rest? In my opinion, definitively not up to par with the over excitement described in the media.
(did i mention that this book was addictive? That adds a point in my list) (and those covers made my eyes bleed oh my goshhhh, making it look like fifty shades of regret instead of a revenge filled beauty) ...more

I've honestly been on a journey of mine called 'Booksy goes on a quest to read every Mariana Zapata book she can find until she comes to the conclusion that either Mariana is a genius or a sad revelation' and EVEN THOUGH THIS BOOK DIDN'T MAKE ME LOVE IT, ACHE FOR IT WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING- I STILL stayed up till an ungodly hour reading it.

(I'm currently listening to 'This is How Villains are Made' on repeat, so if I'm extra villaney, I'll blame it on that)
- Take for example the addictiveness of this series as a whole??? The plot twists, the writing, the nuance of the characters, the relationships??? Excuse me??? I was not ready for this to be the end of the famous group of serial killer friends (or the like).
- I adored the fact that I binged this whole story because the pace was gripping me by the non-existent gray hairs and I COULD NOT STOP, OKAY, I TRIED. (which is why I went to sleep at like 4am, but who cares??? It's a BOOK. It's law to break curfew when words on paper try to kill you, so yeah. Only fair)
- The romance was maybe the weakest point of the book, but WAIT wait. I'm single, therefore I'm entitled of being mad at romance, HOWEVER, there were some cute moments and some sizzling ones that had my grimace turning into a Cheshire grin that really, looked unhealthy and demented.
- On the other hand, the friendships were maybe my favorite thing about this book (apart from the whole, you know, beautiful murder vibes. Like, go off queen ( for the record, FBI, I didn't say that. I was hacked)). Like, they were so ADORABLE and ugh, just take my heart and put it in a blender if you hate it so much.
If you enjoy series (I still stand by the serieses for the plural of series, but the red line marking it on my screen screams oppression of creativity) that grab you by the metaphorical lapels (which should be bought at the earliest convenience because aren't they just dandy?) and don't let you go-- not even to breathe-- sizzling moments and dashing instances, paired with a good-ish MC??? Um, SIGN ME UP.
So even if I'm not completely in love with this book (mainly because it should've lasted about 100 more pages, let's be honest), I can say I don't regret it. ...more

Hello, I'm not well, so I'm writing this in hopes that it will get BETTER. That I'LL get better, know what I mean? So to make this as short as possible, so let's mention the things that I loved and let's GET MOVING Y'ALL. THAT TUB OF ICE CREAM WON'T EAT ITSELF OKAY
I honestly wasn't expecting to get so immersed into the story, so like the smart and gorgeous human that (i'm not) I am, I started it when dawn was starting to arrive and my eyelids were burning themselves at the stake AND MY EXAMS WERE PILING UP (amazing decision on my part, really) and I finished it a few hours later.
Being a 'human' was above my entry level at that point, and I attribute the feelings of numbness after finishing this book to the following things:
The descriptions were beautiful! The magical typewriters, the lush writing that transported my entire being to this whole new world (ahem, Aladdin hi), the action, the intrigue, the romance, the pacing the BEAUTY of this book was engraved in every page. Yes, I believe that the romance moved a little too quickly for my liking, but PSHHH WHO CARES, GIVE ME THE DRAMA. Seriously though, I gravely enjoyed the journey this book took me in and the second book??? WHERE, WHERE IS THEE
Find me hidden under a cave when it's announced, thank you and goodbye.
