What really caught my interest was how this book started right in with the action and I loved the whole magic system and world building! That being said, the reason I’ve given a 3.5 rating is because some of some of the characters - at times they came across as juvenile which took me out of the magic of the story occasionally. I also wish there was a POV from Niko - he was the only one really missing! There’s also opportunity for some spice in certain scenes, but that’s just my personal preference and not for everyone.

It took me a few chapters to fully feel immersed in the story, but I chalk some of that up to this being a prequel to the series, so this was a bit of a backstory to our main character - Bunny. I’m looking forward to the first book in the series and to see where it takes us!...more
