These ladies are crazy and I kindof want to be one when I grow up! Amara Rae takes ‘strong, sassy heroine’ to a new level. And her males? Honestly, they are everything endearing about men… just to an extreme! Cassandra’s story, and outcome, were not a disappointment. I adore the camaraderie and banter between this motley band of mixups. The love and bond between the couples is transcendent. And the sisterhood!!! Yes, please! Interwoven between the fun, steam, and violence, are true life lessons. Hard won lessons. And victory over the echoes. ...more

I have a soft spot for books that delve into mental illness, but only if it’s done well. And this was. Cary’s anxiety is exacerbated by poor parenting and tragedy. By the time Taylor enters the scene, he’s lost hope in ever having a normal life. But what is normal? Normal looks different for everybody. Normal with a new real illness looks different than normal without one. And I love that while Cary improves, and his life expands, they know it’ll take a lifetime to fight for normal. ...more

We live in a constant state of ‘things will be better when…’ But the truth is that there is no joy without pain. And we often find the beauty hidden in the ashes. ...more

Alves’ small towns and the folks who live there have you wanting to pack your bags and move! Her stories are filled with emotion: laugh, cry, scream, swoon…it’s like cardio for your heart! ...more

Poor Penn. Every time he turned around he was surprised by the twists and turns of his life. I can so relate to that feeling of bewilderment as the plot of your own story unfolds. For Penn, a lot of it was painful, and his pain and disbelief radiated off the pages. His lady love, Sita, had her own issues to contend with, and the author penned a believable account of her struggles. And it was her enviable strength and compassion ultimately that anchored him. A lovely story where the heroine is the white knight. ...more
