I love Charlie and Nora. Charlie is the kind of guy I fall for all the time especially because he has such a good flirt game. Nora is quite literally me... peloton, books, & work lmaooo. These two have the best banter and it stayed prevalent throughout the entirety of the book.
I loved the sister bonding sub-storyline. I could see myself in this book due to the fact that my sister and I are as close as Nora and Libby are. The touch on fear of abandonment is what really got me all emotional. With family and relationships, it's a hard pill to swallow. With that, it did take over for a while near the end and started to lag.
Now while this wasn't my favorite book by Emily Henry, this still was an incredibly wonderful read that had me giggling and blushing to words on my couch while simultaneously wiping my eyes due to tears....more

We get a dedication telling us there will be DP... the least we expect is for it to be good. Enter half kraken-half man with a fucking prehensile dick and tentacles, and the smut ISN'T pussy gripping?????????????
I think I'll run back to the double dicked up dragon man who left us all wanting more. He still has a one up over Mr. Sushi fun time.
As far as the storyline, Thane (sushi man), is so boring and uncaring DESPITE his continual thoughts claiming he does in-fact care. Okay—tell me how leaving her in a tower with a ripped dress and no clothes, a dusty bed, and two servants who ignore her and only feed her slices of bread for... what was it... a week, is caring? And that was for her safety? That is a complete disregard for her health and this apparently only takes place due to the fact that after the many years of still grieving his past love, he can't acknowledge his new feelings and have bare minimum decency for others?
I like red flags. Red is such a great color. Some of my favorite book boyfriends are the most heinous people and yet this piece of sushi would be thrown back to the sea in an instant. No desire to even risk making any caviar as Catalina continued to do.
Overall, I didn't feel the connection and there wasn't much growth to the characters. I'm plant-based anyway so there would be no chance of me tasting any fish even if this was good....more

Does he fuck? Fuck he does! Monster smut is one thing but to get started and find out it's polyamorous monster smut—that's a different story. (A good story)
We got a plus-sized witch MC and multiple hot monster men absolutely obsessed and courting her. I have to say, I was crying in single that I can't even get one single man to act that way to me lmaoo.
Lillian does an amazing job character building, especially in regards to each individual's personality and backstory. There was no confusion about who was who and each character had something uniquely likable and interesting about them. Overall, it was very romantic and even highly emotional and certain points....more

This book truthfully is a fever dream of never really knowing what is going on or what is going to happen. My only wish is that it was DARKER.
This book is strange... writing style is wild but I loved it. I found myself not being able to stop reading because the mystery & oddness factors were intriguing and addicting. I honestly, still don't really know what the point of this book was other than just a weird read to pass the time and just for entertainment purposes? Maybe to just get in your head and make you think hard or not think at all.
Although—there was no shock factor for me. More so curiosity just floated around my brain, as for the gore, it wasn't anything mind-boggling or queasy-inducing. So because of that, this fell a little lackluster. Give me that weird storyline but nothing to satisfy that deep part of the brain.
I'd recommend this book to everyone looking for something weird. “A book should be like an ax.”
5 stars For a BIG HYPE booktok book—this one actually hit the mark for me. I ADORED this. *Side note: I've found out this book has alternate endings. I was able to find a total of 3 and I am soooo glad I got the ending I did because it was perfect for me. I read this originally on ebook but my physical copy has my second favorite ending.*
January and Augustus are both authors who happened to attend university together and seemingly, to January, were head-to-head rivals. January struggled with her frustration over commentary from Agustus over her writing and her attraction to him that she couldn't quite shake. Just so happens, years later they become beach house neighbors along Lake Michigan. Both struggling with writing their new books and decide to mix things up by challenging each other to write the other's genre and whoever sells their book first will get the other's endorsement.
“If you think the story has a sad ending, it's because it's not over yet.”
I loved January and Augustus and there was soo much to them in this book. It isn't just romance, things can get a little dark. Cancer, death, cults, abuse, just to name a few. It easily deserves the hype it got. I cried a few times and I didn't expect to going into this book. I personally relate to January's character a lot so this hit home for me. Both characters are written incredibly well and no matter the faulty qualities they have at points, you can't help but love them. It's very human and real.
“I’ve never met someone who is so perfectly my favorite person.”
