The House Sitter is a twisty and taut psychological thriller that takes you on a loop-de-loop then does it again, up to the end.
I found it easily bingeable and liked the writing style. I'll surely read her backlist!...more

I feel the synopsis gives far too much away and all you need to know is: "On the 10th anniversary of a teenage girl’s disappearance, her cold case breaks open in dangerous ways…and threatens to tear apart her small Wisconsin town all over again.".
This book takes place over many parts, each with many details revealed to keep you guessing and gets more shocking than the next! I seriously could not put this down. One twist in particular, actually two, got me sooooo good.
This will be an excellent summer read for fans of Loreth Anne White!!...more

This, at it's core, is a very simplistic book that is not a thriller and the writing is just odd at times, feels very forced at times to seem "poetic".

While "Gone Tonight" was not my favourite, and I have not read "House of Glass", when I saw "The Locked Ward" the bright neon creepy cover and intriguing premise had me interested.
This book is like what Ward D by Freida should've been (god an awful book). This was a twisty, eerie book following Georgia who goes to a locked ward after killing the biological daughter of the family she was adopted into. Or did she? Well, things are not as they seem.
In a secondary POV you follow her estranged twin sister. Now that is all I say...... this is absolutely worth the read with a twisty ending!...more

I'll definitely try this authors other works!...more

I am such a huge fan of her books and have loved every single one I've read. Her next release, 'The Swimmer', was no exception. She delivered another addictive, twisty, and oh-so-bingeable psychological thriller!
This has a podcast element in it and goes back to another book of hers, Beneath Devils Bridge, (that I have not read and should've maybe before this but thats okay!)
Nonetheless this was excellent had my jaw dropped not once but twice at some twist reveals. Very very clever indeed. ...more

This book opens with the INES (The International Nuclear Event Scale) which has 7 levels of severity. Level 7 is a Major Accident, such as Chernobyl. There has never been a Level 8 until NOW.
When the pilot flying the passenger plane 757 has a heart attack, the plane begins to air-dive directly into the Clover Hill Nuclear Power Plant with 295 people on board........ what will happen next?
Oh boy..... buckle up and find out!!

Book one for me was just meh, book two though was what got my interest peaked - especially with that ending..!
I like Jess's character a lot, she's just worn down enough with her past to give her character the motive to why she acts the way she does. Then of course the mystery itself is one big puzzle, connecting back to book one so read that first for sure.
I am glad I enjoyed this one a LOT more than book 1. I loved this ending, that twist at the very end was shocking. I also liked how I was used to the paranormal aspect with this one, so it worked for me. This is worth the read for sure!...more

The Best Lies is very different from Look Closer, while LC leans on the domestic side, The Best Lies leans heavy on the crime/police procedural side. Now, I love me a good crime thriller, but I was simply expecting something more juicy and domestic.
This has a lot going on. Its a lot to keep track of, but I enjoyed this from beginning to end. The end has some twists, with some minor ones sprinkled throughout, but it missed the 5 star WOW factor, so I am settling on a still great 4 star, especially considering I binged from 18% to the very end before work today.
I continue to plan to read the rest of his backlist and whatever he comes up with next!...more

I just found this to be so slow, and the big reveal shortly into the book I thought was obvious for a reason I do not want to say, but thus took surprise factor away.
This was not a bad read at all, just had a lot going on for me. One thing she always does right is nail her covers. Im still going to read the other two of hers on my shelves, "the last to vanish" and "all the missing girls"!...more

I love Sally's books, and this was no exception! This was a dark and uncomfortable read at times but well written about foster-care and mental health struggles.
This was not what I expected and I mean that in the best way. Had life not gone in the way, I'd have binged this in one sitting (maybe two) because her writing style is so addictive. Multiple POV's but never confusing.
Id say be wary of content warnings here as this must be her darkest book and made me cringe at times. That said, she wrote it with care and I loved how this book ended. That last chapter was excellent! ...more
