it wasn’t what i expected and i didn’t even know much going into it. olivia, our fmc, is known for how tinyteensysmall she is!! but don’t worry she’s sarcastic and feisty to make up for it!! she’s just so interesting and unique but it needs to be mentioned every page how minuscule she is.
carter to me was even worse. maybe I’m too used to morally grey men but everything he did and said cringed me out SO bad. i find it so hard to imagine anyone is actually attracted to someone who acts like a literal man child?? i might be biased because i was put off of him like 15 pages in when he started going on about how attractive his BEST FRIENDS GIRLFRIEND is like I’m sure he was literally ogling her ass at some point. WHAT??
also just boring at points. the end killed me inside trying to get through. i loved carters family (minus the sister she was literally just him as a female and i’m getting the feeling she’s got a book of her own :( ) but olivias family irked me too ( i hate kids sorry ) :(...more

honestly wasn’t really there for the romance in this book. don’t get me wrong i love protective, possessive mmc’s but aiden just wasn’t doing it for me like at all?? his one personality trait is that he’s a “psychopath”. that’s it.
i really think the background trauma/mystery plotline held my interest more like the way it ended is probably responsible for 1.5 of my 3 star rating. i’m really intrigued by xander and kim// cole and silver and will definitely continue reading rk’s books but this one just wasn’t my favourite! ...more

”in solaria blue means royal. and to me, blue means you.”
i just need to appreciate these books for a second because they’re single-handedly saving me ”in solaria blue means royal. and to me, blue means you.”
i just need to appreciate these books for a second because they’re single-handedly saving me from the worst slump of my life. i’m aware that this series isn’t perfect like there is moments reading these when i question wether they’re completely satire like gereraldine is probably one of the most bizarre characters ever but do i still adore her?? yes i do.
this series, to me, just has it all. there’s a really unique magic system related to astrology and the elements with other elements like ‘orders’ including vampires, wolves, dragons etc. there’s a sense of found family, a drawn out enemies to lovers plot that makes me want to scream - i’ve finished the third book and it’s still slow burning if that’s what you’re into - there’s a forbidden relationship that has me literally BLUSHING its so good. most of all it’s just entertaining, there’s serious moments but a lot of the time i’m laughing and smiling. i’m just genuinely obsessed with these books atm.
don’t even get me started on torydarius. that scene in the cave between the two of them literally tore me in half.
he was saying something and it took me a moment to push aside the echoing in my ears so i could listen to him. “- would fucking break me. so don’t you dare give in to them. i’ll follow you into the shadows if have to and drag you away from them kicking and screaming. because they can’t have you. they fucking can’t.”
THEY HAVEN’T EVEN KISSED AND HE’S ACTING LIKE THAT?? i love...more

i genuinely wanted to sob last night knowing that i’d finished this series. i wanted more, i never wanted it to end i literally would read 3 more books just about evajacks doing absolutely nothing and i think i’d still rate them 5 stars.
i LOVE jacks in this book like the protectiveness?? how he defends her without a thought?? i still have no words to be honest. i still can’t stop thinking about the epilogue though she’s hooked me...more

honestly it probably did have good moments but i really didn’t care about them being together, i didn’t feel any connection between them and that’s what made this book so uninteresting. there was no tension, no good buildup, barely even any flirting as far as i can remember. i kept reading to the end purely so i could go into king of greed as soon as it comes out...more

honestly i found it kind of hard to get into at first. the writing and world building threw me and normally i wouldn’t like the whole fairytale aspect of it but i was completely wrong!! the twists and turns in this book were amazing like i was doubting and suspecting everyone and i think it’s great when a book makes you do that.
evajacks have my heart. they had tension and banter, i’m literally still thinking about the tiny bit of forced proximity they had that’s how much i’m obsessing over every little thing. so excited for the next 2 <3
‘she knew some people would think this made her foolish, but it was tremendously hard to fully fall out of love with someone when you had no one else to love instead.’
no but why was this book so funny?? the amount of times i was just sitting laughing for no reason, everyone was just so unintentionally hilarious.3.5

i really connected to aida rather than callum. i liked their relationship and the development but there really wasn’t much to him i felt like but aida was so strong and funny and all around a really good character to read about <3 i actually really liked the family aspect in this one, normally in mafia romances there’s a lot of family rivalry and issues but the relationship she had with her brothers especially was so cute. i have to say the tension between the two of them is what made this book stand out so much to me like probably the best i’ve ever read. they had so much chemistry and their banter?? it was on another level like kai is my dream man. he’s the perfect balance between being fun and teasing but also so caring and protective at the same time. his perspectives are the exact reason i love dual pov romances because his inner monologue seriously gave me butterflies.
i just wanted more of them and especially near the end i just wanted more to happen between them. it’s veryyy slow burn and because there’s only one book so far the buildup just felt like it went nowhere but i’m honestly so excited to read book number two next year!!
there’s also ‘who did this to you?’ and the nightmare trope. i rest my case <3
