I wanted to love love love this because the cover was amazing. I want to put it on my ceiling and stare at it. Hehe. The prose got tiresome. Some people do it good like Julie Mannino and Ariana Nash (Lily mayne too even though a couple of quirks there make my eye twitch). The Last Courtesan writing was just...a lot at times. Too flowery without enough of meaning or feeling, and after a bit it started to drag and feel repetitive
The premise was good, and some parts were better to me, but it didn't quite deliver. ...more

This is really best read after the main series, and while reading that, I kinda had Eren's thinking at times:destroy all the angels! Because of what Riley found out, but there were victims unfortunately.
I wanted to hug Azriel and squish him because he was so sweet and the poor thing had been hurt so badly, and then all alone on Earth at first. ...more

Riley is lured into the demon world where it seems his old "imaginary friend " wasn't so imaginary after all, except Eren (or Lord Erebus) doesn't remember him. They have a rough start, but after I finished it, and took another peek at book 2 blurb, I can see why. Eren was such a devious character. He seems like he could be niceish, once you get past the coldness, but theirs something else going on in the background.
I almost wanted to cry for Riley since he's been through so much and then Eren did THAT. I was suspicious of Riley after it mentioned his eyes, and then his shoulders and back weren't that hurt after his first night there? I thought that if he's human, he shouldn't be that sturdy. After Eren revealed a truth, it made sense why he wasn't physically damaged beyond soreness.
It also made more sense too. I should have guessed more since it was weird his back was itchy at other parts. Certain things were slipped in so smoothly, including the info in some books...wow...more

I'm demi, and this hooked me from the second I read the blurb and realized what it was about. It was so much better with two Ace characters and I loved how their was so much steam with no sex. Finding a book with kinky aces is like finding a needle in a haystack. Don't get me wrong, I love smexy scenes in books, but this was awesome.
Kalen is the perfect dominant Ace twink. The bit where he flips off Loki, and Loki says "anytime, anywhere." Had me cracking up.
The endings still stuck with me. And of course, Loki made it all better, but it's still sad he's so disliked at home. No wonder he's always out. I'd be out too if I was treated like that. It's a standalone(unfortunately because there will never be enough Kalen), but since he keeps helping others (basically doing what Theodora said to do in Loki's Price when he was far more selfish), he needs his own happy ending. ...more

Ephraim and Levi are already a couple when this starts, and I don't want to put spoily stuff in, but it was nice (and hot lol) watching them explore their kinks in bed.
When they suddenly have a family, the kids became their main focus, which is normal for parents, but Ephraim and Levi didn't forget about each other. It showed a healthy balance of kid/family life, and the adults having private time on the other side of the coin. The tension and flow was great, the bit with the priest and what happens their made me tear up a bit because they deserved that....more

Ari seemed so nice...at first. It starts out with Ari, and her brother Timmy helping someone escape. King Jack helps them, and rewards them for what they did. Timmy is allowed to be a guard at the Castle since they train new people. Ari becomes obsessed with Jack but hides it pretty well. The plotting starts but I'm afraid to spill too much of it. In the end, I was not expecting what happens to the characters or well done the author tied it all up.
Timmy has a love interest, so this is part romance, part one-sides obsession, and part perfect murder. It was completely unexpected and amazingly put together in my opinion. Now I know why there's a dagger on the cover, lol....more
I read Thrall, so I when I saw this was an M/M romance too, I snatched it as soon as it came out , and I wasn't disappointed. The preqel short story I read Thrall, so I when I saw this was an M/M romance too, I snatched it as soon as it came out , and I wasn't disappointed. The preqel short story was great and made me love Finley as a character. He's an adult now in this one and travels to Camaday since he's still a drifter. He has a relationship in a town, but it doesn't work out, and the Earl's son, Travis finds out about him. The Earl, Mark, also has daughter named Bella son, he won't let her go out anywhere with out her brother because he's afraid a regular escort/guard will sweettalk his way up her skirts. That's where Finley comes in because he's gay, so he's considered safe. Travis is gay too, and sort of like the dominating, possessive bad boy. He seems like a great guy at first, and the fact that he loves his sister so much enhances that. Finley's always wanted another man to have a longterm relationship with (like for life), and thinks he's found the one.
This is the first time Finley has met anyone, much less a whole family, that accepts gays. However, there's other issues in the family. As time goes on, it becomes clear that Travis isn't so nice. He's goes over Finley's boundraries in a lot of ways, and if Finley says no or that he doesn't like something, Travis brushes it off, or tries to gaslight him by saying he's overreacting, stuff like that. It escalates into violence, and Finley leaves. Travis doesn't let people just leave him like that, and he finds Finley, trying to say he loves him, etc. Since Finley refuses to return, Travis takes things a step further. I won't get into the specifics of that because it might spoil things, but it kept me on the edge of my seat because it seems like Finley has no one to help.
I liked the Bishop character because even though he's a clergyman, he cares more about justice being done, and says God loves all His children, and it doesn't matter if they're gay (I guess sort of like a modern day Love is Love). He doesn't have to change to fit society's views. I liked that this book highlighted the fact that Finley didn't need to "turn straight" or anything. He's already perfect as he is. Even with a religious character added in, it wasn't preachy or pushy. The ending left me very satisfied, and this is a series, so there will be more too.
I also really liked a certain bit in the last chapter, and without spoilers, it shows Finley's resiliency and the fact that he knows it's okay to just take care of yourself sometimes. He doesn't lose himself, and Overall, the characters were interesting, well-developed, the spice was great, and the relationships between the family and important people were fleshed out. I'm pretty sure I read everything by this author, but the M/M books really top the list for me. I can't wait for the next one....more

Finley’s family and community wasn't accepting of his homosexuality, I like that this book represented the harsh reality some teenagers have to face. Finley’s family and community wasn't accepting of his homosexuality, and he was kicked out of his village. From there, has to make it on his own, and he meets a boy named Evan who ran away from home because his father beat him up all the time. Evan is jaded, and while Finley wants to hold onto hope that his future might be good and hold things like love, Evan thinks that's dumb. He doesn't care about screwing people over if it helps him right then. Evan does something and tries to convince Finley to go along with it, but he picks his own path because he doesn't want to be jaded and cold hearted at that age. Picking his own path brings better things. While he doesn't get to go home, the book still has a sweet ending because Finley sticks to his guns and is making it. He doesn't give up hope. The last bit really warmed my heart, because it shows that even when bad stuff happens, it CAN get better, and a person can still grow. There was a line about a mouse almost at the end that shows off Finley’s personality a lot and shows his ability to give even to something that's usually considered "unwanted." I'm really excited to read The Hunted and see where Finley goes next. ...more
