“See you in the sky”
This tiny little novella put me through a rollercoaster of emotions. I felt giddy, happy, swooning, and heartbroken! There were most definitely tears that were shed by the end of this book.
I loved Adena in Powerless but this book shows you how much depth there is to her. How optimistic, kind, bubbly and truly beautiful she is as a person. Makoto is the grumpy sunshine I never knew I needed with a heart that beats for one woman. I am very intrigued to see if we will be reuniting with him in Reckless.
Overall, this book had me feeling all the feels and now I need to night to sit in those feelings before moving on....more

Dear Taryn….
You are the biggest waste of space I have ever met. Your insecurities rule your decision making and your jealousy of your sister has rotted you from the inside.

I am still spiraling after finishing this book!
This story had me hooked from chapter one and I feel like lately I’ve struggled to find books that draw me in so quickly. The whole witch versus witch hunter, forbidden romance made me weakkkkk! I’m a sucker for a story where the two love interests are mortal enemies yet find themselves so drawn to one another that they forget why they are wrong for eachother in the first place. That’s what Gideon and Rune were giving! And what’s better than enemies to lovers? Enemies to lovers back to enemies, of course!
The magic in this story was so good. I love the almost archaic means in which the witches have to cast their spells and the gothic element it added to this book. Although some plot points were predictable, there were also several moments where I quite literally gasped because I did not see it coming.
I would dare say that any fans of Powerless by Lauren Roberts would LOVE this book! Now I’m just going to sit in a corner and stare at the wall until book two comes out....more

THIS BOOK WAS THE BEST TIME!!!!!
I was feeling myself slipping into a book slump until I picked this up. It immediately cured me! It was so fun and I found myself giggling the entire time.
The characters are so likable, the story so funny and relatable in many ways, and the romance is so freaking cute. I’m such a sucker for a story where the morally grey MMC has only one weakness and it’s the FMC.
The idea of an office setting but in a fantasy world was hilarious and where aspects of relatability come in. We all have that one coworker we don’t care for, the office comedian, someone who spills all the secrets and so on.
I really enjoyed myself while reading this book. Can’t wait for book two. ...more

This book was incredible! The political intrigue happening throughout the entire book was flawless!
All of the scheming, countermoves and deceit throughout the story was so well done that I could not put it down! I had to know what was going to happen next.
Jude had so much growth in this book also. Yes, we see her continue to strive for more power and standing and desire to prove herself to those she deems superior but that was what made it so interesting. We get to watch her puzzle out each problem and glimpse the inner workings of her mind.
And CARDAN GREENBRIAR! My High King himself did not disappoint. The banter, romance and betrayal…. I have no words!...more

I have had this series sitting on my shelf for almost two years…. WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO READ IT?!
The beginning of this book was a bit slow and the world building hard to grasp at first and I think that had to do with a lot of inner dialogue and very whimsy writing. Once you get used to it, it’s amazing!
This felt like a coming of age story. Where we see Jude in this stranger transition period in her life trying to figure out where her place is in Faeries. She struggles and fights against what she is slowly becoming while striving for power and influence. At the end of the book we see her finally stepping into her own which I loved!!! She is so fierce and cunning.
Also, let’s talk about Cardan… the man was barely even in this book and said absolutely nothing until towards the end. Yet he has me so damn giddy I cannot contain myself! What type of enchantment is this?! ...more

My favorite read of 2024 so far! When I tell you that I DEVOURED this book, I mean that whole heartedly.
I knew 50 pages in that I was going to be hooked! This book had some of the absolute best one liners that were so poetic and beautiful that they had me squealing! I have never fallen so hard and so fast for a fictional man than I did with Kai. This man had me blushing, giggling, kicking my feet, panting and quite literally foaming at the mouth.
I realllllly loved Paedyn as an FMC. She was clever, strong, brilliant, snarky and overall just badass.
You can most definitely see heavy inspiration in this story from Hunger Games, which I’m not mad about. I love the deadly trials, the underestimated FMC, rivals to lovers to enemies vibes. And the political intrigue was done so well. Everything was perfection.
The ending to this book also had me so damn anxious and heartbroken. I’m still sad and not sure how they are going to fix things in book 2 but I’m most definitely ready to find out.
If you have been on the fence about reading this book, do yourself a favor and pick it up immediately!...more

Ok…. I have ALOT of mixed feelings about this book. Both good and bad. So buckle up for a long review.
Firstly I’d like to say that I am very disappointed I did not love this book more. It was my most anticipated read of the year and I feel like it did not live up to the hype for me.
Let’s start with some of the things I didn’t like. I felt like there was ALOT of word and phrase repetition. There also were quite a few details that kept getting mentioned over and over again but didn’t really add anything to the overall story or had the desired effect they were meant to. For example, Sigrid’s character was completely pointless. What was the goal of her becoming a Reaper? What was the point of resurrecting The Harpy or the brief appearance of Celestina? What was the purpose of Lidia having kids? And Bryce really annoyed me in this book! Her character was overly aggressive and snarky. Usually these things add to her charm but in this book it was overdone. And the overlapping of the ACOTAR world and Midgard was verrrrrrry underwhelming. I wanted more. And how is it possible that all of this happened in the span of a week?!
I also feel like I still had questions by the end of this book.
Now on to some of the things I enjoyed. I loved getting a glimpse at Prythian (I just wanted more of it) and some familiar faces from that world. I really think Nesta and Bryce would be such good friends if really given the chance. I loved getting to learn more about Lidia and also seeing her relationship with Ruhn grow. They are so sweet and I adore them! I also really enjoyed all of the information we learned about where the residents of Midgard truly came from and what the Umbra King truly is as well as Jesiba! Getting to see The Fallen finally have their redemption in the end gave me goosebumps and I was SOBBING when Bryce was briefly reunited with her lost friends in the afterlife. In true SJM fashion, she made me cry uncontrollably at that.
Overall, this book was “book ended” in my opinion. The first 200 or so pages were good as were the last 150 or so pages. The entire middle was a bit of a mess....more
