The whole cast of characters was unlikeable and I mean really unlikeable. The brother/sister duo were some of the worst people I could ever have the displeasure of reading about.
Also there were a surprising amount of elements to the book that left my stomach feeling queasy. I don’t know if it was the description of the mass of daddy long legs or the woman throwing up into her cereal bowl but I guess I’m just a little more squeamish than I thought.
The 2 stars is for Abigail because with the way she annoyed the main character, she was the only one I was rooting for. ...more

I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that. I hated the ending but I think that's just because I was not prepared for it to go in that direction.
I loved the first ¾ of this book. I liked the philosophical waxing of two smart people questioning life and relationships and the odd moments of dread that left you uneasy. I think to truly understand this book you have to read it twice and even though it's a short book, I don't think I'm interested in doing that.

This story is about a funny and smart widow named Halla who inherits a magical sword who also happens to be a man. Sarkis is grumpy and protective and a relic from a different time. I don't want to say anything else because there's nothing else to say other than go read this book immediately.

I was a little nervous to give “That’s where it lives, my love for him. In the space between the things he could do, and what he chooses instead.”
I was a little nervous to give this book a read because I had an abysmal time reading Not In Love. These fears turned out to be for nothing though because I rather enjoyed this book. Do I still miss the women in STEM Ali who wrote really short and obnoxious female characters? Yes, I do but that's a me problem.
This book had it's downsides though don't get me wrong. Just little things here and there that were kind of annoying. When our FMC Scarlett is describing her kinkiness to her friend, she goes on to say that she doesn't feel like submitting has anything to do with feminism and then the first time her and Lukas hook up she makes a point to say that she feels anti feminist in being dominated???? Which is it?? There was a little 'other woman' action that didn't play too big of a role other than to constantly be an undercurrent to every big decision that our main characters tried to make. And the actual sex was definitely diet BDSM. Watered down and too sweet.

This feels like the start of a good joke or a really cute romcom.........both. It's both.
This book wasn't life changing by any means but there were a lot of great representations of trauma in the form of all the baggage you can bring into new relationships. The third act breakup was easy to spot coming because the FMC, even though she has a tendency to bottle her emotions, had 'I'm going to freak out when you want to commit to me' written across her forehead. The MMC was an adorable, grand gesturing fiend and I absolutely loved it.
Even though this book dealt with heavy subject material, it felt like an easy, light read that anyone could enjoy.

This book is a hard one to rate because I kind of loved how unlikeable the characters were for some reason. I didn't hate the twists and I liked the plot.
Where this book lost me was the structure and details. I didn't love the jumpy timeline, and I especially hated that I felt like everyone was connected but it was unclear how until the end when everything conveniently fell into place. I didn't like how I couldn't tell how old the characters were in comparison to each other, but it felt important to the plot and the connection between all of them.
The story took a long time to progress, and I didn't feel the least bit invested in it until maybe the 60 percent mark which is way too long to hook your readers with something interesting in my opinion.

I was pleasantly surprised at how engaging and fast paced everything was until I felt like the story just kind of stopped. The first chapter and the last 4 were exciting and the rest of the book was as slow as slow can be.
Along with being slow there were problems with the actual book itself. There was little romance, and our two main characters were bland. Whatever magic system was going on; I was lost. There was A LOT of talk of magic but I genuinely had no idea how any of it worked.
Also, when did it stop being romantic to call someone by their name?! His nickname for her was Wild One and I just couldn't get over that.

Tell me what you did revolves around our main character Poe who is a podcaster with a secret. I loved the darkness that seemed to surround her. She has a drinking problem, she’s incredibly withdrawn and she killed someone. Not relatable at all but she still somehow came across as someone who was doing things for a somewhat understandable reason.
