this is was extremely fast-paced, with a somewhat predictable plot but it was so quick and fun i didn’t mind!

i’m honestly unsure what to feel about this. on one hand i think this was different from anything she’s ever written, and the romance was heavily on the back burner which i didn’t mind, and on the other, it felt like it was lacking something that i can’t quite put my finger on. i will say i enjoyed this way more than funny story! overall, it was a an above average book, but it is nowhere near beach read or happy place! ...more

rosie and aiden are academic rivals in a writing workshop who are forced to work together on a manuscript combing their two genres, romance and lit fic. i honestly really did love to see the academic rivals part because it felt real, they both were always at each others neck finding something to critique.
i also loved the small bits we got from the manuscript as they’re mostly written in the mmc’s pov and it was very much them writing about their feelings but disguising it as their book characters’ thoughts.
i overall enjoyed it BUT i think i eventually got a little bored around the 60% mark, plus i didn’t really like rosie’s attitude about romances MUST have hea’s to be considered romances it just felt extremely stereotypical. also the mmc’s reasoning for his attitude made sense up until the end where it was kinda used to excuse his behavior….
i still recommend it to anyone looking for writing academic rivals to lovers and a peruvian fmc

cross the line is a sports romance featuring f1, brother’s best friend and diverse backgrounds!! i absolutely loved the representation here especially the south asian representation since i feel like it’s rarely displayed in books. willow and dev were such cute characters with more than obvious chemistry from the beginning!!
an unpopular opinion but i do not like brothers best friend but i continue to read it hopes of books such as this one that can remind me why i did at one point!! it didn’t feel completely predictable as i think the brother didn’t play a huge factor in this like normally and with no third-act i really was able to enjoy this!!
however, i personally wasn’t a huge fan of dev’s behavior at the beginning and although their prior interactions do play a role in this it somehow felt more insta-lusty while at the same time being a slow burn.
overall, i really enjoyed it and binged it in one day so if that’s not telling idk what is!!

okay i decided to write a proper review for this so bare with me. i was previously rejected for this arc so the petty in me refuses to give this any higher but still i really enjoyed this. i finished this in three hours! i sat my ass down on my couch and just read, and might i add i also fit in the time to take an everything shower, so that’s really telling!!
anyways back to this book, picture mean ankle-biter pen pals who have kept in touch from fifth grade up until post-college when suddenly they lose communication. she hadn’t heard from him for two years, unable to get his address when *boom* he sends a letter to her workplace with no return address!! she then takes it as her mission to find his address so she goes a little bit stalkerish.
i think this storyline is relatively unique! we get her pov in the present while we get his from the past leading us through major moments up until we get to the present. i know in most cases the author only dives into the background of the fmc, but this time we got all the background on the mmc which i really appreciated and seeing how throughout everything he went through these hate-letters were the only thing consistent in his life, it touched my heart. i don’t like how we barely got any background on the fmc but who cares she was kinda annoying anyway.
i just love seeing people meeting their match. the hate letters were honestly funny majority of the time!!
Dear Naomi, A million microscopic bugs live inside these flowers, and when you smell them, all the bugs will get sucked up into your nostrils and eat away at your cartilage until you don’t have a nose anymore. Xoxo, Luca.
basically a jist of what the letters were like. i did still have issues with it (ofc bc it’s me) and i think this could’ve been a novella, and that it definitely dragged on a bit longer then necessary. like although it was pretty short, the third-act conflict (idk if breakup is the right term) was very annoying but whatever.
recommend if ur looking for something short n easy! ...more
