Yet another BANGER from SSC!!! I have yet to not love one of her books and this is just another testament as to why. This book delivered everything and more!
Lilith…man do I love this woman. I’m not gonna lie I was having slight bisexual panic while reading this book cause the bad bitch that this woman is??? Ya’ll are gonna have to pry me from Zahareiv’s cold, dead hands because I want her all to myself. No, you know what? I’ll take both of them. Why should I have to choose?
But seriously, Lilith had such a badass charm about her that was almost impossible not to love. I really enjoyed how Scarlett added so much depth to her and detailed backstory to make her pop that much more. There wasn’t much of a character arc mainly because she didn’t change; she didn’t need to. She was so confident and no nonsense the entire book and she always knew what she wanted and went after it. I wish more FMC’s were like her, especially when they’re written so well.
And then there’s Zahareiv, the god of a man that Scarlett has blessed us with. This man did anything and everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, for Lilith. His unwavering loyalty and trust and love was so beautiful. He is the perfect definition of ‘touch her and I’ll kill you’ mixed with ‘I’m only soft for you’ and I absolutely LOVED IT!! I liked that we got little snippet dialogue from him as well at the end of every chapter. I kept thinking to myself that it would’ve been a gold mine if we got more POV from him but, alas, I’ll settle for what was given.
The side characters were hilarious and surprisingly lovable as well. I really enjoyed CoCo and Cassius and I hope we get more of them in the series to come. Esther…my baby…I love you. She did not deserve what happened and I couldn’t help but feel my heart break a bit. That’s the thing about these characters in general: we don’t have to have sooo much info on them to be able to connect and love them as much you will. That’s just how well Scarlett can write these characters.
Now, if you are a frequent flier about here, you know how much I love mythology and retellings. The thing I love most about SSC’s books is that it doesn’t matter if her books are not completely accurate to true mythology; the woman makes them fun and bingeable and so easy to get fully invested into the story she’s telling. I know a bit about different aspects of mythology, but I don’t go into her books trying to point out the obvious differences. I think the plot is utterly engaging and the story is so easy to become obsessed with. I flew by 467 pages without even realizing it because it was THAT investable.
The only problem I really had with this book was that the beginning was a bit slow. It took me about 100 or so pages to finally get invested, but once I was in, I WAS IN! I honestly think it was more a me issue rather than the book itself, but nonetheless I found it kinda meh at the very beginning but let me tell you…it was so worth it. I could not in good conscience give this lower than a 5 star I just couldn’t.
Overall, SSC is an auto-buy author for me and this is the perfect example as to why. Her books take some getting used to especially with the names and places and world and such, but they are some of the most enjoyable reads I’ve ever had. This book is definitely going up there with my favorites. I’m so sad that this JUST released and now I have to wait until 2026 for the next book. I’m going through with drawl already. I want MORE!! I’ll be sitting here waiting impatiently for the next book. Counting down the days. ...more

I just have to say...Charlotte? THANK YOU. For making me read this. This has been BY FAR one of my favorite reads of this year and even ever. This was my first Jessa Hastings book and when I tell you that I loved this with every fiber of my being...I have so much to talk about in this review so just hear me out.
The characters...where do I even begin. Georgia has been hands down one of my favorite FMC's I have ever had the pleasure of reading about. The backbone on this girl is so admirable and to come out being the person she was through this book was nothing short of beautiful. This book was a journey and she was at the forefront of it. Her personality is pure spitfire and deserves the absolute world.
Sam. Could this man be any more perfect? That's a rhetorical question because NO HE CANNOT! Sam was the epitome of what a lover and partner should be. I loved reading of his and Georgia's journey and their blossoming love story right from the jump. The chemistry was off the charts and Jessa did such a good job writing them so that they mold and fit so well. The love and care he showed Georgia all throughout this book was so heartwarming. Even the way he took care and looked after Oliver...
SPEAKING OF OLIVER, I have never read more of a selfish, ungrateful brother than him and I mean that with my entire being. The things that Georgia would do for him; the way she loved him unconditionally and for what? For him to throw it back in her face? I'm sorry, but no one can convince me that he's not a selfish prick. The way I see it is everyone's feelings are valid but the way they react on those feelings are not. I could not grow to like him at any point throughout this book, and the last 150 pages made it even worse. Nowhere near being redeemable no matter how you look at it.
I am not going to spend a lengthy time talking about Maryanne for one sole reason: she can eat shit and die. I don't care. I will die on that hill for my entire existence and with my entire being....more

I can't believe it's over...I am SO SAD! This has inevitably put itself up on the list of my favorite fantasy series' of all time. This was absolutely incredible.
If you had asked me what my favorite part of this series was, I would say the found family aspect. The characters and their relationships throughout this series were amazing. So many up and downs with the characters lives. So many tears and so much laughter. The best thing about this series, ESPECIALLY in this book, would be the characters. They were so dynamic and so diverse and they just felt so real. You grow attached to them so quickly and you can't help but fall in love. Jaren is such an underrated MMC...WHY IS THIS MAN NOT GETTING MORE HYPE???? Top book boyfriends for sure. I couldn't help but blush and giggle when he would say sweetheart and my love AHHHHHH he's amazing. Just like in the rest of this series, this book had so many PHENOMENAL side characters that made the story.
The twists and turns and mental TURMOIL this book put me through was borderline criminal. I have nothing but good things to say about this plot. It has the perfect blend of politics, magic, love, friendship. You name it, it's got it. I am not embarrassed to admit that this book had me crying at several points because of how invested I was. EMOTIONAL DAMAGE AT ITS FINEST. There was never a dull moment in this book. It's investing and adventurous and an overall wild journey. 11/10 would ALWAYS recommend.
Overall, I am grieving the end of this trilogy. If there were 5 more books, I would 100% be reading them as well. Lynette Noni did such an incredible job with the plot and the characters and I consider it such a blessing that I got to experience this story. I cried, I laughed, I shook with rage. You experience a wheel of emotions with this series and the final book just wrapped up everything in a nice little bow. It was amazing reading your story, Kiva. ❤️

This book was so painfully beautiful in a way that words cannot even begin to describe. I can see why this is such a widely loved book because this was an absolute masterpiece. I genuinely can't name a single thing I didn't love about this.
The characters in this book are unlike any characters I have ever read and that is not an exaggeration. The way these characters were so raw and real and just downright memorable was incredible. When I talk about wanting and loving characters who can hold their own, THIS is what I mean. The things Vianne and Isabelle went through and experienced was something no human should have ever had to go through. Every tear and emotion that these characters evoked from me was something so heartbreaking and is the epitome of the strength women have. This is one of those books where the characters will stick with me for a very long time, even forever.
I'd also like to mention that the depth and intention that went into making the side characters (every. Single. One of them) did not go unnoticed. This book is not just about war; it's also about the love and care we have for others during deadly times such as this. It takes real, incredible talent for an author to capture these things so beautifully within a story and be able to evoke these emotions for characters you may not even see a lot of. That's just how talented Kristin Hannah is.
I know this is a very common opinion and almost everyone who's read this would agree that the writing is what made this book so memorable. It wasn't just the story or the characters or the setting. IT WAS THE STORYTELLING. This has got to be up there with one of the most authentic, heartbreakingly beautiful way of telling this story. I am most definitely not a historical fiction reader; this is actually one of my first true books of this genre that I have read. It is safe to say that not only will this be a new obsession with KH's books, but maybe even historical fiction as a whole.
It breaks my heart every time I think about the fact that this actually happened. Not this story, per say, but the war and the effects of the war and how real people had to go through something like this for it even to be written about. I think everything about this book is so empowering and a true testament to love and war and the relationships around us. I am not the same person I was before I read this, and I mean that in the most heartfelt, honest way. I hope that one day when I get old that this will be a book that another younger generation will read and love and get the same experience that me and so many other people did. Truly incredible.

I haven't had a solid five star in a while, but THIS??? 100% deserves it. This was a masterpiece. There are no words to describe the wheel of emotions this put me through. I loved every bit of it!!
The characters in this book were so amazing. The FMC is such a badass and we LOVE a strong FMC who takes nothing but nobody!! Her personality was just so likable and her character growth throughout the book was phenomenal. The MMC is one of my all-time favorites. This man would do ANYTHING for the woman he loves. This was a true enemies-to-lovers and the tension? The love? The loyalty? Unmatched. The side characters made the book even better, if that was even possible.
The plot itself in this was beyond words. The beginning jumped straight in to it no time wasted. The middle got a bit slow, but it was extremely character driven and not once did I feel bored reading this. The stakes were so high and I was immersed entirely. It's so easy to follow along and everything ends up getting explained so there are no loose ends. The ending of the book hurt my soul, but I think it wrapped up so nicely and set up a good premise for the next book.
Overall, I am so happy that this ended up being a five star. It had the makings of it and man did it deliver. I'm a bit nervous to read the next book, as I've seen it has mixed reviews, but based on how much I loved this one I think it will be okay! If you haven't read this, PLEASE pick it up. This was randomly chosen by my best friend and it's safe to say this woman knows me so well cause this delivered in every sense!!!

I found myself falling in love with Sera's journey from the very beginning. This series is supposed to be the prequel series of FBAA, and going with the recommended reading order was definitely the best choice. This is the 4th book to read in this universe (as suggested). Even though I rated this up there with my absolute favorites, this had almost the exact same order of events and even little details that FBAA had, just better. This book and that book could be twins they were so similar. However, that did not stop the amazing journey and roller coaster of emotions I had reading this.
It is so easy to fall in love with JLA's characters and I find myself just enamored with her books. Everything about these books is just so addictive! Her writing and storytelling ability is so magical. The chemistry between Nyktos and Sera so spicy and swoon worthy with some much needed humor to break up the seriousness and spice to keep you completely hooked.
Overall, this is up there with some of my favorite fantasy series' (or universe in this case) of all time. I can't help but feel surprised and intrigued with every book I read. If you were on the fence about reading one of these books, this is your sign to do it. BE PREPARED FOR THE UNEXPECTED (in the best way possibe). <3

This is the first time in a while that I have really enjoyed every character in a book series. It takes the power of EVERY character to make such an amazing book and I loved all of them. As if I couldn't love Poppy and Casteel more than I already do...God I haven't felt this drawn in since Throne of Glass.
One thing I will say about this book is that everything was so unpredictable and you're honestly there for the ride. While this does have a LOT of spicy scenes, it doesn't take away from the politics and main plot of the story, and that's something I always look for in a good romantasy book. The ending absolutely took me OUT! I've never been so grateful for a series to be this long and I know it'll shatter me once I'm done with it. ...more

I was excited but scared to read Teddy's book mainly because we all see her in the previous books and I was thinking maybe she wouldn't be portrayed the same. However, I was SO wrong. Teddy was everything and more. I have never related to a character on a level as deep as I did with her. The fact that she's worried that she's "stuck" in her 20's while everyone is getting married and having kids...dude me to a fucking T!!!!
Her and Gus were as good as I hoped they'd be. Their banter was amazing and their chemistry was so good. Gus is so special in my heart; he's definitely up there with the greatest book boyfriends. The way he cares for Teddy was so special.
I am kinda on the fence when it comes to single-dad x "nanny" tropes cause it has to be done right, and this was done right!!! The relationship between Teddy and Riley was beautiful. Sometimes I can kind kids annoying in books especially when they're written poorly. This was not that!
I could go on and on and on about my love for the Blue Rebel Ranch series, and this is by far my favorite in the series!! The long awaited Teddy x Gus came, delivered, and ATE. I already dread reading the last book cause I really don't want it to be over. ...more

SHAMBLESSS!! I AM IN SHAMBLES. When I first picked this up, I was NOT expecting this to turn out to be a contender for one of my favorite fantasy books. But here we are, and I LOVE IT!
I was so blown away by how much I loved the characters in this book. Not just Kiva, the FMC, but all of the side characters and the love interest Jaren. When I tell you that it's impossible not to love these characters, I wholeheartedly mean it. The minor characters just pulled the story together and by the end of the book you're just astonished with the journey you just had with them. Kiva was such an amazing lead character. Her love for her family and friends was till death do us part and she truly meant that. She was badass and carried herself like no other. Tipp was probably my favorite side character. I MEAN IF YOU'VE READ THIS YOU KNOW WHY! Naari was a close second and Jaren? GOLDEN RETRIEVER ENERGY at its finest.
The plot of this book PLOTTED! Not only do we get the characters journey, but the politics and magic in this system was wild. I'm a sucker for a good fantasy with politics and after reading so many of them, this is up there. I was engaged the entire time; I was not bored for a single second. This was such a fast read and you get sucked in immediately. While this was Young Adult, it didn't really feel that way because of the writing and complexity of the plot. 10/10 yes. Just yes.
I actually ordered the rest of the series the other day and they're supposed to arrive shortly so best believe I'm starting the second book as soon as it comes in. I am just so IMMERSED! It caught my attention and now I just need to read the whole series. I had a prediction at the beginning of this book that I'd love it, but I was surprised at just how much.
Side note: BE PREPARED FOR A CLIFF-HANGER AT THE END!! If you know, you know. The second book immediately is a MUST. I am so so excited. My jaw was on the floor at the shock factor. Literally so insane. I will not be forgetting this for a longgg while!

Verity and Alex's story was a wild one, but man...I was enjoying the ride. Their chemistry from the very beginning was amazing. There wasn't much build up, but it was written in a way that still made it feel as if you've read 100 pages on them. Their personalities just meshed so well and I quickly became enamored with them.
The plot of this book was absolutely WILDDD. It started off a bit slow but it quickly picked up and when I tell you the ball just kept on rolling...It was one thing after another after another and I was NOT ready for it, but I loved it. The plot twists just kept on coming and at no point could I guess what was going to happen next. It was like a thriller with magic and mystery. I loved the way the ending turned out and the journey this book took you to get there.
HOWEVER...it should be a crime that the next book in this series isn't coming until 2026. THAT IS CRIMINAL.
This book was beautiful and magical and mysterious and I could not recommend this series enough. I know it's not finished and it's a long wait but the endings don't leave off on cliffhangers (mostly) and they're SO easy to binge and become immersed. I have never been able to relate more to a fictional book character than I have with Ellie. Her struggles and demons she had I sadly related to in more ways than one. I thought the chemistry between her and Rafa were off the charts and the tension? THE TENSION? Gag me please or else I will not shut up.
It was so beautiful to read of the mending relationship between Rafa and Nico. These two boys have bee through hell and back and in the end, they came out stronger than ever. Ellie and Nico's relationship was so wholesome and their countless scenes together just made my heart so full.
I'm telling y'all right now...RUN. Don't walk, run to read this series. I was very worried that there would be "second book syndrome" but that was not the case at all. I found this beautiful, deep, and warming. This is such a 5 star series for me!!
MY FAVORITE SCENES AND QUOTES
My son is the best part of my life, and I will slay every single one of my demons to make sure he doesn't have any of his own.
"You know, not everyone at Wisteria High was obsessed with you." "It's okay if you had a crush on me." "You weren't my type." "I was everyone's type."
Loneliness might be temporary, but heartbreak? That emotional damage can last a lifetime.
"What's the point of letting people get close, then?" "Because life is about finding the right people who want to stay and making sure neither of you ever let go."
"I love you more than pianos. superheroes, and Duke Brass." "Wow. That's a lot of love from such a little guy." "Papi says I have the biggest heart he knows." Second-biggest heart to exist, right after his father's.
"All I see is someone who chose to live. Someone who chose to keep fighting, even when they had reasons to give up. Someone who turned their scars into shooting stars."
I could get used to this. To her and the love she is so readily able to give. And to the love I want to reciprocate because she is the one I can't imagine life without.

When I tell you that Elsie completely delivered on Violet's story, I mean it with my whole heart. When I read the Chestnut Springs series and I saw Violet introduced, I knew I needed to read her story. And when I tell you I did NOT expect it to be this one? I was thrown for a loop but in the best way possible.
When we first meet Violet in this book, she's very shy but eagerly wants to prove herself and make it known she's not just the Eaton boy's baby sister. Her character development in this was so beautiful. She was overall just a beautifully written character. I liked the uniqueness of the plot, as Violet uploads a nude picture of herself and that's actually where she ends up meeting Cole.
Cole was very briefly introduced in the first book and he came off as a very broody, cold person. While reading this, though? He's actually the sweetest man. I LOVED seeing him come out of his shell and develop into the character he was. A huge reason I really like Elsie's books is because she adds so much depth to her characters that it actually feels like you know them. I really WANT to know them. I know that when I dive into these books, I'm ready to be transported and immersed.

When I read Saving 6, I wasn't the biggest fan of Joey and Aoife's story. I was really scared I was gonna end up not liking this from how I felt about that book. But I can confidently say...I am a believer. Everything about Joey and Aoife's story was gut wrenching and beautiful at the same time. I could not ask for a better book and story than this one. I lost count of how many times this book made me cry and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
Hearing Joey's side of the story about the domestic violence and the way it impacted him just hit so much harder than it did with Shannon. I think that might be because I could relate a bit to some level. Either way, this book truly holds such a special place in my heart. I could not imagine this being told better in any way, shape, or form.
Joey and Aoife deserved the world and I will continue to think about this book until the day I die. This story was unique and handled with such care. Chloe Walsh, you did amazing. I think the fact that this hit so much harder was because of how raw and real it was. This is actually a very unfortunate reality for some people and I really do think this highlighted such a hard topic but was handled very well.
