Julia Park Tracey has elegantly used words to portray what silence feels like to one bright, lovely woman. Silence Marsh.
Her story is one of perseverance under great emotional and mental abuse. She grows up in New England shortly after the Salem Witch Trials ended. Her Puritan pastor sentences her to a year of silence after she questions God due to grief.
I was shocked to learn of the inhumane ways people, almost exclusively women, were treated. And all because they dared to question the men that led their church.
I love that Tracey wrote this book using her real life ancestor as inspiration. She made Silence March come alive for me. I could imagine what she saw and felt and was overcome by emotion as I contemplated her life experiences. Having lived in Ipswich,Massachusetts and having read the poetry of Anne Bradstreet I was delighted to have that connection.
I am so glad that I won this book as a giveaway from the Historical Fictionistas Group! If you like historical fiction full of emotion that truly brings the past alive, I think you will enjoy this book!...more

A boyfriend and girlfriend go on vacation together. The girlfriend wakes up in the morning to find a dead woman in their Airbnb and her boyfriend has disappeared. Missing White Woman, is full of clever twists and suspense. Every couple of chapters had my jaw dropping at the unexpected reveals. I had no idea who the murderer was until the very end.
Unfortunately for me the end was very quick and left me unsure of what happened. The killer is revealed, but then, in the epilogue, a new character introduces additional information.
I would have liked to know how the murder happened. Possibly have the narrator go back and look at the clues and tell how everything came about. As it is, there’s no way to tell if it was possible. I liked the book though and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Thank you Goodreads and Kelley Garrett for the opportunity to win this book!...more

The Search Party is so much more than someone goes missing story. The dynamics between the characters and their families has as much to do with why things happened, as does the individual relationships between the MC’s.
After the epilogue, Hannah Richell cleverly begins the story by introducing each character with their own chapters. Chapters also alternate between then and now. I liked that there is a list of the characters and a map of the campground at the beginning. It helped me to “see” how everything played out.
As things moved along, I keep thinking I knew the culprit was only to be blindsided with a sneaky twist! This kept happening throughout the whole story! All the way to the end. I was shocked at the ending!
It was a really entertaining, can’t put down, suspense novel! Additionally, I liked that I felt like I knew the characters and went through what they went through.
I am glad I won this book from, Atria Publishing, in a GoodReads giveaway! I suggest it to anyone who likes thriller/suspense books!! It’s a good one!

I like how the story gave you glimpses of moments from the victims without revealing the whole scene. It peaked my interest and completely baffled me at times!
I didn’t give the book 5 stars because I had a hard time with the dialogue. The characters didn’t speak to one another like you would in real life. I had a hard time focusing because I kept thinking, “Did he really just say that? Who says that?” I also thought the ending was very abrupt. It was a shocking and great ending but it was too much information all at once.
Calling for a Blanket Dance intrigued me with the premise of a young man being pulled by his relatives to embrace the traditions of his ethnic originsCalling for a Blanket Dance intrigued me with the premise of a young man being pulled by his relatives to embrace the traditions of his ethnic origins. Because he is a mixture of Kiowa, Cherokee and Mexican, he doesn’t have a clear path forward but in the end, learn that love is the unifying factor.
I enjoyed the way Oskar Hokeah let one relative tell each chapter of the book. And also they way it went from past to present. It helped because as a child this is not something Ever could put into words. The final chapter is his own as an adult.
I was saddened by the alcoholism, drugs and violence that plagued Evers family and community but the message that family can help you get through hardships overshadows those things. I When I learned what the title of the book referred to, it was heartwarming. It is a cleverly written story. I only wish it would have delved deeper into Ever’s personal journey to connect with his heritage....more

It’s about experiencing grief from losing a spouse and child and how this can lead to suicidal ideation. In the introduction the author explains that she wrote the story after a near death experience that caused her to look at life from a different point of view.
I was sincerely touched by this story. I cried and felt pain for what this family went through. The ending message is that spending time and making relationships with those you love is more important than money or status. I’ve heard that saying many times but Jamie Beck uses the relationship between sisters to walk you through that thought and see how they came to believe that conclusion. The sisters go through everyday struggles but with an added tragedy on top. Even through this, they are able to begin to heal.
This is a warm, touching story that leaves you with the feeling that there can be hope in the future.
