I liked madame henri, the sneaky devil lol seriously yeah it was a great read...more

This book can be called real complex. I really liked the theme of God, the fact that he was constantly being mentioned (hey call me a religious nut if you want lol) and david is soo brave, how he just does what God tells him without question
Johnny grew up a lot in the space of like 18 hours and that made really happy you know, so that was awesome I loved Cynthia and Steve! they were my favourite characters without a doubt
So for a lot of parts in the story, my heart would drop with fear or surprise or shock, so because this book was able to get me so tangled up in the story that I was able to get these emotions, it really deserves five stars.
I am sad though that not everyone survived but that's how horrors go right?...more
this was the first goddess summoning book I ever read and when I realised how good this one was, I had to read the rest
I love very much how PC Cast mathis was the first goddess summoning book I ever read and when I realised how good this one was, I had to read the rest
I love very much how PC Cast made the story her own, and even though parts of the myth were still buried in the story, her fresh take made it completely different and almost like something I have never heard before, I like that Helen, the woman who is supposed to have caused the war, is hardly mentioned and that we only catch a glimpse of het before the story focuses again on Achilles and Katrina again.
I absolutely adored Jackie, her reaction after being woken up is the whole reason why I read the book again, and their friendship is so sincere. I was very pleased about Jackie's character since she brought in like a fresh black attitude lol or whatnot, so she was definitely my favourite character

wow! first off, Du Maurier is a great writer, I have not had to think so much about a book for ages, I think since Life of Pi.
The fact that the main chwow! first off, Du Maurier is a great writer, I have not had to think so much about a book for ages, I think since Life of Pi.
The fact that the main character is nameless makes Rebecca seem more important or makes her real even though she is dead, and she becomes so obsessed with this dead woman that she starts to compete with a ghost, and she is so insecure! but I dont blame her due to the fact that she conjured a goddess basically in her head when she thought of Rebecca. And everyone admired Rebecca so, even when was dead
It took me a while to finish this book because I think, I needed to "chew" on it slowly, but I really did not see it coming! I mean really, I was shocked about how she died, I didn't expect that at all, in the beginning I did consider it but I sorta passed it off as silly but boy was I surprised!
Mrs Danvers was scary though! that woman gave me the creeps! lol her gloating smile, the way she appeared everywhere, awful
And the future was so sad! I mean, she becomes exactly what she was before she married Maxim, a paid companion so basically two women die with this man, one of them physically, the other mentally as she loses herself
Yeah Du Maurier really made me think, and the ending of this book, how she just eluded to what happens and Maxim's premonition, very frightening...more

Bathsheba is proud and beautiful and independent, and back in the day this was very rare so she is a mystery of her time And then you have Oak who is so understanding and maybe a little judgemental lmao but ahh well, he is a man and they are judgemental But yeah I really liked this; I enjoyed the conversations that the farmhands were having and all the comments that were made about Bathsheba and how she dealt with everything
