some parts are written like a marathon, and others are at a snail's pace. it is genuinely disorienting how fast these switches are, especially during important moments. the love triangle was frustratingly written, katniss just devolved as a character throughout the book but not in a developmental way just in a writing way, and overall, the book was MESSY. however it was better than the filler that was book 2, so it'll get an extra star from me ...more

the first, i don't even know. 70% of the book is just katniss whining about how bad her life is, before it actually gets into any action. and then, the action is rushed, kind of boring, confusing, and the ending was written like she had a gun pointed at her the entire time.
i dont knooooow i had a fun time reading it and im going to read the third book but i sincerely hope its given much more care. this felt like filler all over and its supposed to be an important bridging moment! ...more

the female characters all were copy-pastes of each other, and all had the personality of a wet blanket. also, thriller is ... a very generous description of this plot
im not forcing myself thru the rest of this nonsense. Peace out...more
i wanted to like this so much, especially as the (current) end of the series for wof. but this book was messy, unorganized, and just felt like tui puli wanted to like this so much, especially as the (current) end of the series for wof. but this book was messy, unorganized, and just felt like tui pulled half the plot points out of her ass. also, half the action at the end was rushed and off screen. luna couldve resolved the plot the second she convinced (SPOILER) to release her, so why didnt she?? however much i disliked how this book went, i do like how the end sets up potential future arcs. i want to see the dragons work through their new bonds and establish new tribes or outposts like sanctuary or possibility post-war.
(view spoiler)[i wanted to slap the fuck out of lizard/freedom for the entire time she was included. absolute WORST character in the entire series by far. thank GOD she is dead. (hide spoiler)]...more

i thought the pov of snowfall in the midst of all the pantala characters was so random, but i ended up liking her. but only at the end. in the beginning-middle she was just another insufferable character, even worse than sundew or anenome
the random scavengers?? i guess read the dragonslayer book before this because characters show up from that and honestly the dragons are not as surprised as they should be in this situation which really bugged me. also snowfall throwing out her perfect chemistry with lynx just for an instalove situation with sky was bad writing overall.
3.5 rounded up because i did enjoy the book overall it was just... a bit much...more

really struggled with my rating on this one. on one hand, i really enjoyed the characterization of sundew and her relationship with willow. on the other hand, the plot in this book was just kind of boring. it dragged on and really did just feel like filler. i WOULD have rated this 3 stars but i need to battle the amount of homophobic reviews
also, seriously? from the reviews i was expecting paragraphs of explicit romance scenes, when they had maybe a sentence or two in like, three chapters. some of the one star reviews are embarrassing. your child is going to be fine because a dragon called another dragon her girlfriend
ending spoilers ahead: (view spoiler)[ i saw some people say the sentient plant villain was corny or weird, but i kind of like it. othermind my beloved (hide spoiler)]...more

I love the new species & can't wait for dragon racism drama ...more

love moonpaw and her story though! really excited to see how this plays out but i hope it isnt just ashfur 2.0...more
