"The attraction, the vibe, the raw fucking chemistry between us is undeniable at this point. I hate the pull, the draw between us, like two life-forces destined to lock together. The more I shut him out, the harder he pushes back. The more I try to ignore him, the more he plagues my mind."

At one point Caspian reads Roman's journal why he's showering and sees that it's filled with their times together. Instead of being flattered he decides Rowan must be a spy hired by his band manager. Like really, what the fuck. He then proceeds to punch Rowan in the face, therefore getting himself kicked out of the facility early. I felt like there was next to no groveling here. It was Rowan that ended up explaining himself to Caspian and that was back asswards to me. Caspian should have been apologized profusely and groveling his ass off....more

My only complaint is the 3 year gap thrown in the middle along with miscommunication. I didn't feel like the jump had to be that long and the miscommunication was so unnecessary.

The book started so strong as a friend to lovers and then the author just decided it was going to be a horribly done second chance all of a sudden at 75%.
I want to give 1 star but am at least giving credit for the first 3/4 of the book before the author decided to destroy it.
This puts J.R. on my shit list. Not sure I'm ever reading another book from them.
!!SPOILERS AHEAD!! . . . . . . . . .
A 17 year time jump?? Are you shit fucking me!? And at 70%!! Ridiculous!
Then to find out Varian married his rapist!! Why??? Arik was even at their wedding! Just why why why?
Varian and Arik had such a good thing. Why did it have to turn into this horrible second chance shit!

The writing, third person POV, the sub plot company drama, side characters - all annoying. Their love story is the only thing that made me finish this, just to see where they ended up. I even skimmed the last 20%. The story idea had so much potential and just didn't deliver.
It would have really benefited from being told only through Andrew and Logan's first person POV. Especially what they were thinking in those early days together when they were stranded. There was even random side character POVs towards the end of the book, like what?
Can't say I recommend this book at all. It's my first book from this author and it doesn't exactly make me want to read others.

Okay here's my complaint... I'm annoyed that Easton had the awakening and we never got the scene of his first time bottoming. I feel like that's required for an awakening. It just randomly was mentioned in the epilogue after it had been going on for a couple years already. Give us some damn details.

The book was so well written but I felt like Reed and Halley deserved more. The burn was agonizingly slow. There's slow burns and then there's this book. They just didn't get enough of their story. They deserved to have a sequel rather than a small epilogue. I wanted to see more of them together. I don't have an issue with slow burns as long as we get to see enough of their relationship eventually with out large jumps in time but I finished the book needing more closure.
