i didn’t expect to enjoy this book as much as i did—it was such a fun read! the writing was light and engaging, the storyline captivating, and the characters were so likable. if you’re looking for an easy, entertaining book with plenty of humor, this one is definitely worth picking up. it’s fast-paced, charming, and thoroughly enjoyable.
one thing i really loved was the focus on sibling relationships. the bond between lottie and huxley with their siblings was beautifully portrayed. their mutual love, need for each other, open communication, and constant support added so much heart to the story.
⋆౨ৎ˚ lottie. lottie was not only funny but also confident, realistic, honest, and strong—all qualities i admired. she was mature enough to recognize that her fear of conflict was keeping her in a toxic friendship with angela, yet she didn’t second-guess herself. instead, she trusted her own abilities and stayed grounded. i loved how straightforward she was, never hesitating to question hux’s actions or express her feelings openly.
⋆౨ৎ˚ huxley. huxley was incredibly thoughtful, and his kindness really stood out. i loved how he treated his staff with so much respect and care—having early dinners so his chef could spend time with his daughter or buying flowers for the chef’s little girl. he even sent meals and desserts to the families of workers injured on his projects. those little gestures showed so much about his character.
⋆౨ৎ˚ huxley and lottie. their banter was absolutely the highlight of the book—so genuine, witty, and clever. it made their relationship feel so real and enjoyable. huxley clearly cared deeply for lottie, and her compassion for others inspired him to go above and beyond to make everyone around them happy.

i loved this book even more than once upon a broken heart. i’m completely obsessed. this brilliant yet heartbreaking young adult fantasy explores love, betrayal, magic, loss, and the journey to find true love.
the plot was captivating from start to finish. i was instantly hooked and fully immersed in the enchanting world the author created. the pacing was perfect, and the storyline was packed with unexpected twists and betrayals. i adored all the fairy tale and fantasy elements, from princes and princesses to curses, vampires, and even little dragon.
the writing was so beautifully descriptive that it felt like i was living inside the pages, completely immersed in the story. every emotion, every scene, and every moment came alive so vividly. the ending, though, completely broke me; all i wanted was for evangeline and jacks to get the happy ending they so deeply deserved. instead, their fate left me heartbroken and longing for more, wishing things had turned out differently for them.
⋆౨ৎ˚ evangeline. evangeline truly deserves the world. despite everything she goes through, she stays hopeful and grows wiser in her resolve, which made me love her even more. her growth and character development were remarkable. she’s resilient, kind, brave, and loving, and i could relate to her so much. like her, i see the good in people and love helping others. i admire her strength—she never gives up, and her kindness shines through.
⋆౨ৎ˚ jacks. i fell for him all over again! he’s charming, ridiculously handsome, and has that unreliable, mysterious vibe that makes him so intriguing. but, he really needs a reality check—he doesn’t seem to realize how deeply evangeline loves him or how much he loves her in return.
⋆౨ৎ˚ jacks and evangeline. the evolution of their relationship was incredible. their romance was so beautifully complex, with moments where they saved and protected each other. it was messy and challenging at times, which made it feel so real. their banter was delightful, their chemistry was undeniable, and the tension between them was electric. some scenes made me smile and laugh, but most of their romantic moments left me feeling sad and heartbroken. i’m desperate for evajacks to get their happily ever after.

this book had me laughing and crying at the same time. it’s a classic friends-to-lovers story, but there’s a bittersweet undertone that really tugs at your heart. is it predictable? maybe, but that didn’t stop me from loving the emotional rollercoaster packed with drama and spice. the characters were so well-developed, each with their own struggles and beautifully unique personalities. the mix of humor and emotion in the story was perfect, and the cozy holiday setting made it feel even more special. now, i can’t wait for august’s book! if it’s anything like this one, it’s going to be amazing.
⋆౨ৎ˚ arabella. she was such a sweet but strong character, and i really connected with her emotions throughout the story. as for arabella—this girl has never truly experienced love and isn’t even sure she’s capable of it. her journey was so heartbreaking, but i do wish she’d go after her dream of becoming a jeweler on her own. she’s so talented, and i know she can do it without her parents’ approval.
⋆౨ৎ˚ rowan. and rowan? poor rowan is so overwhelmed by his emotions that he doesn’t even know how to process them. watching him struggle to navigate everything he’s feeling was both heartbreaking and endearing. he’s caught between wanting to protect himself and opening up to something deeper, and it’s honestly hard not to feel for him as he tries to figure it all out.
⋆౨ৎ˚ rowan and arabella. rowan and arabella’s love story is incredibly sweet. sure, their romance might feel a bit familiar, but the drama and passion kept me hooked from start to finish. the chemistry between them was undeniable, and the playful banter and all the push and pull made their journey so captivating—i loved every second of it!

i have mixed feelings about this book. on one hand, it was enjoyable and made me laugh, but at the same time, i can’t say i fully liked it. i didn’t hate it, but i didn’t love it either. the relationship between the characters was cute, but it just didn’t measure up to previous book for me. the story either needed to be shorter for a quick, fun read or dive deeper into the characters to justify its length.
⋆౨ৎ˚ camile. i wasn’t a big fan of cami in the first book, so i was hoping this one would win me over. it kind of did, but not enough. her reluctance to trust people is valid, and i understood her feelings, but her actions didn’t always make sense to me. she’s nearly 30, yet her behavior didn’t reflect that at times. still, i found other characters more annoying than her, which was a relief.
⋆౨ৎ˚ zachary. i liked him. there’s no third-act breakup here, which i really appreciated. the healthy communication between zach and cami was refreshing. zach is a sweet character who’s all in for cami from the start, and he makes sure there’s no room for misunderstandings between them. but i wish we’d gotten to know more about him beyond the basics—he owns a bar, tells dad jokes, and has a daughter.
⋆౨ৎ˚ zach and cami. their communication was great from the beginning, and i loved how zach fell for cami first—this always gets me. his dad jokes were surprisingly charming, and their dynamic was so much fun to follow. i also really appreciated how he always took care of her, making sure she felt safe and supported, and how he reassured her whenever she started to overthink. it was clear throughout the story that he genuinely adored her, and that devotion made their relationship even sweeter.

nora’s book has been at the top of my reading list since the start of the series, and claire kingsley really saved the best for last. while some of the plot points were a bit predictable, i didn’t mind too much; i enjoyed being able to just switch off and dive into their story. the second conflict arc felt a little anticlimactic to me, but the appearance of the husband gang added some humor, even if it was a bit expected.
⋆౨ৎ˚ nora. nora is such an empowering character, inspiring confidence in women and girls to embrace their bodies and sexuality. i was initially worried her character might come across as one-dimensional, but this book completely exceeded my expectations. the connection between her and riley was such a joy to read and made their story even more engaging.
⋆౨ৎ˚ dex. dex, with his mix of gentleness and ruggedness, had me swooning so many times. his sweet, loving, and caring nature, especially toward riley and nora, was incredibly endearing. that said, the second conflict arc felt a little clichéd, relying on a common misunderstanding and communication issues. at times, dex’s reaction felt a bit out of character considering how he’d been developed throughout the series. still, their reconciliation was absolutely adorable and fitting for a couple that doesn’t lean toward grand romantic gestures.
⋆౨ৎ˚ dex and nora. nora and dex are exactly what each other needed, and i’m so happy nora got the happy ending she deserved. their banter was endlessly entertaining, and the book was full of moments that ranged from swoon-worthy romance to delightfully cheesy interactions.

this book was just as good as the first one, and i really enjoyed it. it wasn’t anything super amazing, but it had all the elements that kept me hooked and entertained. the characters were lovable in their own way. it wasn’t perfect, but it definitely kept me engaged from start to finish.
⋆౨ৎ˚ hazel. she’s truly an exceptional woman not only is she incredibly smart, but she also has a real talent for thorough research. i love how she’s portrayed, it’s refreshing to see women welcomed for their skills, not just as a way to break down barriers. while stories of women challenging stereotypes are great, it’s just as satisfying to read about women who are accepted for their abilities without facing skepticism.
⋆౨ৎ˚ corban. he’s just so cute when he gets nervous, rambling off random facts that only come out in those moments. it’s really endearing. but i felt bad for him though he seemed to struggle with being the less favored twin, often finding himself in situations that weren’t really his thing. this made him question his worthiness of love, thinking there was something wrong with him. luckily, it didn’t affect his relationship with his twin sister. instead of turning their bond into a competition, he would open up to her whenever things with their parents became too much.
⋆౨ৎ˚ corban and hazel. their banter was fun. and the pranks they pulled on each other were genuinely hilarious. they teased each other in a lighthearted way without crossing any lines. i’m really glad they found each other, they’re the perfect match. i especially loved the penguin part and how it became their thing. him giving her rocks and her saving them to build a nest for their future little ones was such a sweet touch.

at first, i had mixed feelings about this book because the characters and the situation felt a bit shallow to me. but by the end, i was completely hooked! i ended up enjoying it way more than i expected. the layout of the story, the pacing of their journey, and the development of their romantic connection really stood out. i loved watching their friendship blossom into something deeper. elizabeth o'roark has a real talent for creating characters who, despite their flaws or tough situations, feel so engaging and relatable.
that said, i have to admit i was a bit let down by the ending. after they resolved their conflict, we jumped straight to an epilogue that gave some closure but felt like it was missing something. i wish we could’ve seen them navigating life as an openly out couple. still, aside from that, i genuinely enjoyed this book.
⋆౨ৎ˚ drew. drew's life was a lot more complicated and burdensome than i expected. honestly, there were about five different people i wanted her to slap throughout the book. but even with all that, she was a character i connected with on so many levels. i loved how her tough exterior hid this soft, vulnerable side. as the story went on, i felt every bit of her pain, from the weight of her secrets to the small and big ways she’d been hurt. there were moments i just wanted to shake her for some of her choices. i was frustrated by how she handled her career and how she struggled to stand up for herself, even though it made sense for her character and past. but when she finally found her voice, i couldn’t help but cheer her on.
⋆౨ৎ˚ josh. i really liked josh. his protective, caring nature totally won me over, and i loved how he was always looking out for drew. even though he made some mistakes along the way, he didn’t try to hide them or make excuses, which made him feel so genuine. honestly, a little more groveling wouldn’t have hurt, but i still appreciated that he stepped up when it mattered. he’s the definition of someone who falls hard and fast; from the very first moment, he was completely smitten and wasn’t shy about showing it. his openness and loyalty made him so easy to root for.
⋆౨ৎ˚ josh and drew. josh and drew totally sucked me in, and i was hooked on every heartfelt moment they shared. every time they’d say, “tell me something real,” it felt like my heart was breaking right there with them. their connection was so raw and honest, it just made me love them even more. the banter between them was easily my favorite part of the book; these two were never boring for a second, and their back-and-forth kept me turning the pages. josh couldn’t stand seeing drew treated badly, and i loved how fiercely protective he was, always stepping up when she needed him. the tension between them got pretty intense, and while i totally got where josh’s fears were coming from, it still hurt seeing how it impacted drew. i was just rooting for them the whole time, hoping they’d push through everything and really open up to each other.

the book was good—not amazing, but still an enjoyable experience for my first claire kingsley read. it was fun and easy, making it perfect for when you want something light. the writing style was simple and okay for the most part, though there were a few moments that felt a bit cringe to me. the story itself didn’t have any major twists or unpredictable developments, which made it easy to follow without needing to overthink. while it wasn’t groundbreaking, it still had a charm that kept me engaged.
⋆౨ৎ˚ everly. she truly embodies sunshine, and i genuinely believe that every grumpy individual needs their own everly. she’s the kind of person who brings warmth and light wherever she goes—independent, trustworthy, and incredibly loving. she’s lively, carefree, and a true social butterfly who genuinely cares, generously shares, and always sees the best in others. she perfectly captures what it means to be the sunshine in the sunshine x grumpy trope, balancing out the grumpiness with her unwavering positivity and charm. honestly, you can’t help but root for her and adore her.
⋆౨ৎ˚ shepherd. i really appreciated how his character was written, he wasn’t so toxic that i found myself hoping they wouldn’t end up together. he had a strong sense of self and wasn’t afraid to express his emotions, even though his trust issues with women were evident. his grumpiness was balanced perfectly; he wasn’t an outright jerk, which was such a relief.
⋆౨ৎ˚ shepherd and everly. while faking ms. right doesn’t fully explore the emotional connection, it delivers a slow, easy, and charming romance that i thoroughly enjoyed. shepherd and everly’s journey was such a joy to follow, with their on-page relationship and slow-burn chemistry being a constant highlight. it’s the perfect blend of opposites attract and grumpy/sunshine, making their dynamic both fun and heartwarming.

i didn’t hate it. in fact, i really enjoyed this one. i flew through the book, and it was such a sweet, fluffy, and adorable read. i had a great time getting lost in it. the charming and domestic moments between abigail and damien were so delightful. that said, the way people were raving about it made me think it would be life-changing—the ultimate holiday romance. while it had its charm, it didn’t quite live up to those high expectations. still, it had some relatable moments and found a nice balance between cheesy romance and the realities of life.
i appreciated how the author explored trauma within the story. abigail’s journey of recognizing the unhealthy things her ex made her do felt so real and heartfelt. when you’re deeply in love with someone who doesn’t accept you for who you are, it’s easy to compromise so much that you lose sight of yourself. it can lead to self-doubt, questioning your choices, and second-guessing your worth. the book captured those emotions beautifully throughout abigail’s narrative.
⋆౨ৎ˚ abigail. she was absolutely adorable, and her little quirks made her so charming. i think some of her struggles stemmed from her childhood and the challenges she faced with her parents, which gave her attachment issues. while i didn’t find her annoying, and a lot of her feelings were relatable, i can’t say she had major character growth. instead, it felt like she found the right partner, and her story flowed naturally from there.
⋆౨ৎ˚ damien. i adored damien. he was the sweetest, most lovable character, and his little ways of showing affection gave me butterflies. he had such a comforting presence, the kind of person who makes you feel safe, confident, and completely accepted for who you are. damien was just good vibes all around, fun, loyal, passionate, and charismatic. he felt like such a perfect character.
⋆౨ৎ˚ damien and abigail. the way damien treated abigail made me love their relationship even more. they were just so adorable together. even though they agreed to keep things casual, it was clear how devoted damien was to her—he was completely smitten, and it showed in everything he did.

i was hesitant to dive into this series because i had mixed feelings about the first one, but i ended up really enjoying this installment! in my opinion, it’s much better than the first generation. while a few lines made me cringe, i genuinely loved this book. willow and rhett are such a sweet couple, and i loved seeing crew and wren embrace parenthood! their little moments as parents added such a heartwarming touch to the story and made me feel nostalgic for their journey in the earlier books.
⋆౨ৎ˚ willow. willow is a mirror image of her mother. shy, caring, beautiful, and with a fantastic personality. what i love most about her character is how relatable and genuine she feels. despite her reserved nature, she has a quiet strength that shines through, and it’s easy to root for her. her journey of stepping out of her comfort zone and opening her heart to rhett made her even more endearing. willow isn’t just defined by her sweetness; she’s also thoughtful and self-aware, which makes her a compelling character to follow.
⋆౨ৎ˚ rhett. rhett, the star quarterback at lancaster prep, is outgoing and sociable. the way he pursues willow is top-notch. i was pleasantly surprised by his romantic side; i initially thought he’d fall into the stereotype of a football player who avoids relationships. but once he set his sights on willow, he was all in. not only is he cute and caring (yes, it’s the bare minimum), but he’s also brave—standing up for her in front of the principal, even at the risk of his football career. the surprise at the end was incredibly sweet and thoughtful; rhett truly stepped up.
⋆౨ৎ˚ rhett and willow. i adored rhett and willow together. they’re such a charming couple and strike a fun balance with their contrasting personalities. their chemistry is undeniably the heart of the story. murphy does an excellent job building tension through their interactions, from their first meeting to their growing relationship. their romance feels earned rather than rushed, with both characters bringing their own complexities and vulnerabilities into the mix.

⋆౨ৎ˚ serenity adesina. i was really impressed by serenity’s intelligence and artistic side. her deep connection with archer and the lasting impact she made on his life really stood out to me. i found her relentless pursuit of her passion so inspiring. she never let others’ opinions stop her from chasing her dreams, which is such a good reminder to follow your heart and focus on what truly matters, no matter what others think. ignoring your passions is an easy way to let your dreams slip away.
