Why I borrowed: I really loved The All Souls series (I think I gave 2 of the 3 books my rare 5 stars) so I was curious about this one. It was a fascinating look into becoming a vampire in this world. I liked catching up with my favorite characters and it was nice to dip my toe back into the world. It was a little slow at times but glad I borrowed it!

Quick Thoughts: Oh Eli and Rose! OH MY GOSH what a great save each other story! I had all the feeling during this one: laughter, cheering, OMGoshing, fist pumping, crying, and swooning. This is definitely one of my favorite listens of the year! Plus I want a novella for the sort of side couple. Just saying :)

Reason I borrowed this: I had never tried this author and I really wanted to. Just to note that I had not read the rest of the series so I think my problems were I did not understand the dynamics with some of the characters. I overall really enjoyed the romance but I had some problems with the friends. Particularly the one chick who was super hard on him. I will read Kylie again. If you have read her--what is your fav by her?

I got there but it took that epic event towards the end to get me there. I did like every other part of the story though! I love the Heartbreaker Bay series and was really happy with Joe/Kylie story. The great thing about this series is it balances humor and serious very well. Karen as always did a great job with the narration!

Quick Thoughts: The complicated and rich characters (not likable but identifiable) are what really stood out to me in this thriller. I had a few problems with the way the story ends and some unverified answers. I do get that happens in real life--I just like my fiction a little more tidy. Just a personal preference. That being said, the story flowed really well. That is hard to do withtwo timelines. It was choreographed well and with the characters really pulling you in, overall this was a pretty good listen! I would read/listen more by C.J.

This is my first audiobook by Euan but it won't be my last. He nailed everything from the little kids voices to the adults. I was impressed with his pacing and ability to bring each character alive. It was very well done!

Story/Character thoughts: I want to state that while Leonie was a very hard character to like at times, her story was compelling. This is not the normal light heart read that Cathy usually gives us but it was very well done indeed! I think she did a great job of handling issues surrounding drinking, in a time where that wasn't talked about much. Also I liked the slow burn of the romance even when I wasn't a fan of Leonie. In the end, it worked for me!
