I usually get something up about the book earlier than two months beforehand here on Goodreads, but it's 2020, so I'm taking everything as a win these days!
Here we go! Grace and Ewan finally get their happily ever after in Daring & the Duke -- and hoo-boy do they go through the wringer for it. I hope you love their love story as much as I do, complete with angst, drama, dirty fighting, an endless grovel....and Whit and Devil grumbling about it the whole time.
An incomplete list of stuff you'll find in this book:
* Grace, aka Dahlia, former bareknuckle fighter, superior businesswoman and the proprietor of a women's pleasure club--and definitely the smartest of the Bareknuckle Bastards.
* Ewan, aka the Duke of Marwick, returned to London to find girl he chased away twenty-years ago...and ready to do anything to win her back.
* A pure grovel novel. If you like books where hero's hearts are yanked from their chests...this one is for you.
* Bareknuckle boxing, rooftop shenanigans, a circus complete with magicians and aerialists, and a peek at Devil & Whit in domestic bliss.
* A little look at what comes next!
Daring & the Duke is coming July 30th to bookstores everywhere...I hope you'll add the book to your TBR shelf here at Goodreads, and preorder now. If you're interested, you can find signed copies at my local indie in New York City -- and support a local New York, woman-owned business while getting a signed book and some delicious swag (including this gorgeous laptop-or-anywhere sticker, featuring Grace's bare knuckles!)
I know we're not supposed to play favorites. I know I'm supposed to love all my books equally. But I really really love this one, you guys. It'[image]
I know we're not supposed to play favorites. I know I'm supposed to love all my books equally. But I really really love this one, you guys. It's so close to my heart.
An incomplete list of the reasons why:
* Hattie: A smart, savvy, curvy girl with a talent for knots, who refuses to give up on her dreams simply because the whole world tells her she can't have them. She's got a five point plan to claim herself, her business, and her future.
* A grunty Beast of a hero, who is both a bareknuckle bruiser and a throwing-knife wielding bookworm, and who can't seem to make himself get out of her way. In fact, he very much wants to stay in her way.
* Hattie's best friend, Nora, who drives carriages recklessly...and is ride-or-die for her bestie.
* Devil & Felicity, living their happily ever after.
* Sesily Talbot, still hanging around The Singing Sparrow, driving her American wild.
Truthfully, Hattie & Whit love bantering almost as much as they love kissing...which they love almost as much as they end up loving each other. And I hope as much as you'll love them, too!

I'm thrilled to tell you that WICKED & THE WALLFLOWER is finished and ready for bookstores -- and coming your way June 19, 2018!
This is a new series -- spun off of all my other series (you'll see the Fallen Angel and the Singing Sparrow again!) -- set in Covent Garden and featuring my Bareknuckle Bastards--three siblings who run a variety of businesses (some more legal than others) in the dark corners of London.
I'm so excited for you to meet the first of the Bastards, Devil, and the woman who brings him to his knees, who anyone who has read THE DAY OF THE DUCHESS, will recognize!

It is a powerful erotic inspirational romance that twists and turns and evolves on the page from one simple thing to something beautifully complex. While SINNER is in the PRIEST series -- the hero is the brother of the hero of PRIEST, and the heroine is his best friend's little sister, who is one month from taking her vows to become a nun -- it can easily be read as a standalone, but if you're interested in the way an author evolves her craft, I encourage you to read PRIEST first, which is a fabulous book. SINNER, however, is the natural progression of PRIEST -- equally erotic, but beautifully elevated to a meditation on faith, on love, on sexual desire, on family, on responsibility, on sacrifice. It's stunning, and a perfect example of what romance writers can make this genre do.

BUT...that said, I will tell you that this book put me through the ringer. I don't think I've ever written two characters who better deserved a happily ever after...from each other. I don't want to spoil what's to come, but here are the answers to some of the questions people have been asking about The Day of the Duchess!
1) YES, you will see more of the Dangerous Daughters/Talbot Sisters/Soiled Ss. Lots more of them. You will see them in carriages and at country houses and in places that you can visit yourself in the real world.
2) NO, you will not see Alec & Lily from A Scot in the Dark. They are too busy doing it in Scotland. But YES, of course, you will see King & Sophie from The Rogue Not Taken -- it would be tough to ignore them, as Sera & Haven's story begins there for so many of us. (Aside: You will also see some of the boys from The Fallen Angel!)
3) You will get the whole backstory for Sera & Haven here. I promise. I wouldn't dare leave you hanging on that front.
4) There is an American, too.
For more, you can read the first chapter of the book at my website! Thank you, as ever, for reading!
Here's a little teaser for those of you who are waiting so patiently! I mean, it's mine. So, of course I like it, but here's a little more about why.
Here's a little teaser for those of you who are waiting so patiently! As you can see, the Duke of Warnick (the titular Scot in the Dark) has opinions:
He raised a brow. “It's a children’s love story.” Lillian gaped at him. “It’s Romeo and Juliet.” “Babes without any sense. Killing themselves over infatuation.” “It’s considered one of the greatest love stories of all time.” He lifted one shoulder and let it drop. “Unless you know better.” “And I suppose you know better?” she scoffed. "Without question." He leaned forward in the darkness, allowing his brogue to thicken. “You want romance, you ask a Scot.”
But the question is...will you? Let me help you decide. If you enjoy the following things, you might like Sophie &Well...I mean, of course I like it.
But the question is...will you? Let me help you decide. If you enjoy the following things, you might like Sophie & King's story:
* Romancing the Stone (or *any* enemies-to-lovers story) * Roadtrip romances * Men who don't know what's hit them * US Weekly, People Magazine, Defamer.com, or that sidebar of "news" on your Facebook page * Any of the following: Beyonce, the Kardashians or the Middleton Sisters * The idea of wildly-sexy afternoons in hedge-mazes * Heroes who end up realizing their idiotic mistakes and end up on their knees for love

I love it all so much that I've since become friends and critique partners with her (we even wrote a short story together in Dark Duets). So...I might not be the most unbiased of reviewers.
BUT...
This book. THE LOVE I HAVE FOR IT IS REAL, YOU GUYS.
Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for a revenge story (ahem -- A Rogue by Any Other Name). Or maybe it's because I adore shipwreck stories. Or maybe it's because I like girls who take lemons and make badass lemonade (ahem -- Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover). Or maybe it's because I like sexy sexy will she forgive him/won't she forgive him romances. I'm not sure. But this book is my favorite of Carrie's from start to finish.
If you're interested in YA romance -- or have someone in your life who is -- or if you're (like me) missing the TV show Revenge -- this is a perfect read for Summer 2015. ...more
