We are finally out of Maria's shadow. Yay! It's just them and healing.
Once again the author misses a great opportunity for angst when the hero goes a bit too non-con-y on his newly (reluctantly) pregnant wife and hurts her. But, once again, the heroine's listlessness doesn't last and the hero doesn't grovel.
I think it's a matter of preference when it comes to these books. So many chances for the hero to suffer because of his actions yet the author focuses on other things (their healing after the aftermath of the second book, their reactions to the pregnancy, etc.)
The ending was... too much. Fifteen bad guy cars plus their own eight cars plus a helicopter plus a portable missile launcher equals me skimming the too Die Hard-y scene.
I'm glad I read this author. I'm very new to dark romance and I know she's been a bit of a staple for years. I can officially say I like her writing enough to finish the trilogy, but not enough to read her again. The content is just not my style....more

The book starts with the psychopath describing his obsession from childhood to OW. It really, really soured my mood, but this was described as pitch black, horror erotica and I just needed to know.
The OW is mentioned for the last time at 77%! Just when all the horror and mindfuckery had managed to make me forget, there he goes, comparing the prey to OW, AGAIN
Molly never looked at me like that.
My tolerance never really recovered after that.
Grammar issues, formatting and strange wordings aside, I think the author had made interestingly twisted individuals. It almost read like a from of study in self-hatred and endless self-destruction. I admit, I skipped 90% of the torture porn, which means I probably shouldn't be marking this as read, but ¯\_(ᵕ—ᴗ—)_/¯
But it was all wasted because if you read about an obsessed, pitch dark psycho hero THE LAST THING you expect is a fucking MENAGE/SHARING scene.
what.
the.
fuck.
It made sense for the heroine to try to have a 'normal' relationship after all she went through, so I didn't mind the fact she sleeps with OM in her attempt to find that.
But the hero asking her to give OM a blowjob? And then lets him p*netrate the heroine?! Irredeemable.
I finished because by then I was too close to the finish line, but honestly, for a book so full of truly horrendous stuff, it sure seemed oblivious to the biggest trigger in romance...
Without the OM menage scene this could've been a 3 ★ only for the good mindtwists and the slow burn progression of heartless to heart-having(?) psychopath.
This is a mini novella, less than 100 pages. But I see daddy kink and breeding kink and you know I'll read it.

This is a mini novella, less than 100 pages. But I see daddy kink and breeding kink and you know I'll read it.
It was mediocre to say the least and I'm tired of sifting through dirt only to get at the few tiny gold ores.
You know you have almost no pages. You know a lot of them are steam. Why not tell us (since there's no time for showing) a pre-established relationship?
Why do a step-daughter/step-father pairing if they aren't going to know each other? You don't want the taboo of the man that raised her to be attracted to her, don't make him her step-father.
This is the story of acquaintances that see each other after years and are instantly attracted to the other so the guy decides to keep her. The end.
Where's the tension of him finally giving into the taboo? Where's the guilt?
If this had been a regular age gap, I think I would've like it better but there are certain expectations when there's a taboo pairing such as step-father/step-daughter and this didn't even try to meet them since they are both surprised by the other's appearance.
It's too superficial, too insta and not nearly romantic enough.
But the biggest sin? The hero's climax is fade to black!
The first time the heroine passes out and when she comes to, he's sitting in a chair and she's... basted.
The second time it's inferred by the twitching that something might be happening or might happen soon, but nothing explicit.
I don't know why my review is turning out to have almost as many words as the book, but I guess I've been reading so many less than average breeding books (a kink I like enough I have it on my profile so no one can be surprised when they see these types of books) that I was bound to get angry at some point.
The only reason this gets 2 ★ is because the hero has been celibate for years and even before he wasn't a manwhore. The last person he had vaginal intercourse with was the mother 15 years earlier. ...more

It's the first time I see this author's name, so based on the simple, amateurish writing and fairytale-y dark-ish plot, I just assumed it was a debut novella.
I actually finished this thinking I was glad to find a new author with potentially lots of future breeding kink books.
I was wrong. Though (as far as I saw) they've only been writing for two years, their GR author page says they have (at the time of this review) 123 distinct works. If this is the culmination of 123 novellas, I'm not impressed.
I'm going with the rating I felt at the time I finished the book, but I don't feel too excited about trying this author again....more

The heroine's fiancé cheats with the youngest sister after the heroine has an ectopic pregnancy and becomes infertile. They get to live HEA on the background.
The heroine's new love interest, the 'hero' has a thing for her other younger sister, the heroine from the previous duet.
