I can honestly say that I felt like the writing for this book was top notch. Kemmerer does an amazing job setting up a difficult situation where certain grey characters are in a no win situation and are literally very grey characters. I felt like Kemmerer did a great job of showing both sides of the problem and how a character realizes that all is not so black and white.
I think I was so impressed at the ability to weave a story around characters making hard choices that weren't always "the right way" morally and having characters caught in between.
While this is a YA book it has serious depth to it which allows even adults to enjoy and youth to explore the "what would you do if you were in this situation"
I loved it.
Highly recommend!

My absolute favorite thing about this book was the banter, angst and tension between Inez and Whit! I LOOOOOOVE that in a story and it kept me wanting more from them!
So so so many twists and turns, it's fast pace and keeps you guessing! And the ending....oh my gosh.... I can't WAIT for book 2!!!!

If book 3 was anything like the first 2 books I probably would've given up on the series. I liked the first 2 books just fine but not enough to keep going. BUT THIS BOOK has me wanting more. Maas is the master at getting me to care about side characters and other characters that she introduces.
I still like Chaol and my heart breaks for Dorian. Celaena annoyed me a lot less in this book and at one point even had me tearing up and feeling for her. Nicely done Maas.
Overall I really liked this one and look forward to seeing how the story goes on.

I haven't finished the series so I guess this will be useful in upcoming characters? still was this book really necessary?
Overall it was okay I'm ready to just move forward.
Also? Celaena annoys me. Her pride and arrogance is annoying. She's 16 I get that but still. I look forward to more character development from her and better writing in the rest of the series.
For having written this book when this author was 18 is pretty amazing. I am really impressed.

I really enjoyed this book and audiobook! I loved the duo voices of the audiobook they were so good.
The story was super fun. The back and forth between Kai and Paedyn were so cute and so fun. Kitt was fine as a character but annoyed me with his golden retriever type personality. It drives me nuts when characters still want their parents approval regardless of how horrible they were to them and others. But then again, that is real life too so I can also understand that and not hold it against the author.
The writing at times and I mean just a few times were juvenile but honestly this author is going places. I am definitely keeping my eye on this author.
Overall I really enjoyed the book and look forward to next book!!!

Anyone who is a fan of Korean or Chinese dramas, will thoroughly enjoy this cute book. I am a little unsure if this is more new adult or young adult. Anyone who is a fan of Korean or Chinese dramas, will thoroughly enjoy this cute book. I am a little unsure if this is more new adult or young adult. This has the content of YA but the ages of the main characters are of 19 and now-a-days it's kind of all blurred.
This started off totally like an Asian drama and I was eating it up, I was loving everything about it. It was just super cute. The narrator was absolutely wonderful and anyone who knows me, knows I'm very picky about my narrators because they can either make or break a book and this is no different. Good thing for me, this narrator was great and kept my attention throughout most of the book.
I really enjoyed our 2 main characters Sydney and Winter. Sydney was great, she comes from a terrible background who wanted a fresh start working with this organization to take down bad guys, wanting to make her life count, wanting to make her life mean something. However, she comes with a chip on her shoulder that bleeds into her interactions with Winter, our superstar-which I liked!
Just like in asian dramas, the superstar has a sad family dynamics and really is just misunderstood. Totally like asian dramas, again which is why the first half of this book had me glued and sucked in. It was all just cute. Winter is just a nice guy and it was sweet.
The interactions between Winter and Sydney only brought more to the story and it continued to just be everything you'd expect from asian dramas. For the first half I loved it.
This slightly over half way things started to change for me. The author randomly; out of nowhere; threw in a mention of LGBTQ that didn't make sense and was so out of left field if felt forced. It almost was like the author needed to check of that box so she just randomly threw it in there ONE time and left it at that. I thought that was just stupid. For those who wanted representation will be disappointed. It was very poorly done.
Then things changed for the better too quickly between Winter and Sydney. Their back and forth snippets at each other lost it's spark! If they (especially Sydney) really had a chip on their shoulder I would've liked to have seen more dislike towards each other. But, they all of a sudden got physical and it just didn't feel real to me. Their relationship moved on too quickly and after that the story just felt like any other cheesy YA story. There was no more depth to their relationship and I struggled to find the desire to finish their story.
Overall it started off so great and I was loving it then literally half way through it just died and wasn't fun anymore. just Meh. I would've hoped for more from this author and I just became disappointed.

The author is a master of storytelling, and creating a magical world that was vivid in my imagination, the characters were so deep and I could see the struggle that they were going through and choices that make or break them.
The one character that annoyed me? the little sister but I see that she was important to get the ball rolling but oh my word I couldn't stand her, she annoyed me so bad!
Taha! oh Taha... I hope you are redeemed! And Qayn? I look forward to more scenes with you next time! I DO NOT LIKE LOVE TRIANGLES but I loved this!!! I'm team TAHA because I have my suspicions about him... I feel like he has ulterior motives still.

This story was no different. The writing was amazing, the world building magical the storyline just colorful and beautiful. This has so be one of my favorite reads of 2023 so far. I HIGHLY recommend this book. I can't stress enough how utterly captivating this story was. I won't stop recommending this book from this day forward. I HOPE this author writes more stories within the spirit world that she created.
I loved every single character. And fell deeply into the magical world that Oh created. I don't know what other wonderful things I can say about this book and I don't know how it's not more popular!
I fell in love with Rebecca Ross when I read her utterly enchanting book A River Enchanted. I fell in love with how she woooooooh man that ending!!!!
I fell in love with Rebecca Ross when I read her utterly enchanting book A River Enchanted. I fell in love with how she writes people and characters and entwines a glorious story that keeps you riveted to the book.
I looooved the story of Iris and Kitt, their total dislike for each other and their banter back and forth. I loved Iris and who she is as well as Kitt who is just swoon worthy and amazing.
The writing was amazing, I loved the WWII feel and setting of the book (maybe it was more WWI since it talks about trenches) the just wasn't your typical setting but it just worked for this book, that's how amazing Ross is as meshing 2 unlikely ideas and settings and making the perfect story.
Having 2 POV I think has to be difficult but again Ross made it seem so effortless, they deep separation of POV and able to maintain their voices has to be difficult but it was just perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better book.
Overall if you're craving something unique and different then I highly recommend this book and any book this author writes.

People have been asking me my thoughts on A Curse for True Love. There were a lot of things that disappointed me with the book. I still loved it because I got what I wanted in regards to the ending. BUUUUUT I did feel like this last book was not as good as the first 2 in this trilogy. The book wasn’t as “mysterious” with twists and turns like the first 2, it lacked a lot of story I felt that could’ve been told about Jacks and his Curse, there could’ve been more with him and Evangeline. There just could’ve been a lot…more. However I still have it 4 stars because it still made me feel, it still made me ache and gave me “the feels” in certain parts that is really hard to do for me. So… I and still happy with it because it’s done. I look forward to more from Garber and can’t wait to see what who she continues on… my guess? Caster. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am happy. I am satisfied. *happy sigh*
I loved this trilogy more than I enjoyed Caraval Trilogy. I loooove Jacks. There is just so much to his character and I love that Garber didn't "change" him. He is still a morally grey anti-hero and I love that.
The last sentence makes me wonder if Garber will continue to stay in this world she has created...hmmm Whom would be the next story be about I wonder...?

The characters were easy to like, the world building understandable-probably because it's our today world- honestly the overall story was fine.
My biggest issue was the writing. The writing choppy and lacking but not bad. Some things were too fast and at times felt forced. Not sure if it's because you've got 2 different writers writing the book or what but the pace was at times off but mainly the writing just seemed choppy.
I did however immediately grab for book 2 as book 1 left you on a Terrible cliffhanger. It was ended so abruptly it felt like the book was ripped the book in half and declared book 1 & 2.
I do recommend this book though. It's fun and I'll keep my eye out for more on these 2 authors!

I absolutely loved this book! If you've read "Daughter of the Forest" by Juliet Marillier then you NEED to pick up this Chinese retelling of the Brothers Grimm The Six Swans.
I LOOOVED the Chinese lore weaved into this retelling.
I struggled at first with our FMC she was 16 and acted like she was 8 at times but I totally get what the author was doing with her. I loved her character development.

I will say that I got a Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier vibe through it all as well so it was definitely a well round mix of everything. So much adventuring, romance, mystery, intrigue etc.
No wonder this trilogy is so popular! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

At first I kinda struggled with it because it was almost Okay the description for this book is on point. Seriously a Hunger Games/The Selection book.
At first I kinda struggled with it because it was almost exactly that. The Hunger Games & the Selection. But I kept reading and as I got more into the story it literally became it's own.
I really really liked the book, and I thought all 3 books were out now I have to wait till later this year for book 2 and next year for book 3.
Moving on...I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed THG & TS, I enjoyed the struggles and triumphs of the main character. I enjoyed the ruthlessness of others, the snark and strength of the characters as well. There were several twists and turns I didn't see coming which surprised me and I appreciated that as well as the fact that I was actually surprised.
The romance was sweet and I didn't expect anything more or less which is fine and I appreciate that there are still struggles ahead and I look forward to that.
Overall it literally is THG & TS with it's own twist on both tales mashed together. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun easy read.
