Karina Halle and I have a rocky history. Most of her books that I have started I DNFed. I finished My Life In Shambles and it was so AMAZING. I kept thinking that I would find another book of hers that I liked....eventually. I'm glad I decided to keep giving her a few more chances because I LOVED this ...more

May 5 2020- Wow! This was so disappointing. There were certainly some great high points but there were also so many low points, which just equals out to this being pretty average.
I think the most disappointing thing was that there wasn't enough of the pagan rituals that gave this series its "magic" and made it so addictive. That "magic" has been the highlight of this entire series for me. The atmosphere of the book was completely changed from the previous 2 books.
Other things that I didn't like: ⭐Rebecca and delphine's relationship was lackluster and the sexual tension/chemistry between the two was weak. Their ship was the single thing I was looking forward to in this book and it just... let me down. I think Sierra could have done a better job with their sex scenes. I don't think she put as much effort in to writing these scenes as she did with Auden and Saint. ⭐I didn't like the direction Beckett's character went in. ⭐i didn't like that the characters were separate for nearly all of the book. They all barely came together (which goes hand in hand with not completing the rituals or anything).
What I did like: ⭐Saint! Saint! SAINT! ⭐Saint and Auden. ⭐The chemistry, conflict and sexual tension between Saint and Auden. ⭐The little bit we did get about the pagan rituals. This is where Sierra's writing shines the most. She is so skilled at creating atmosphere. ⭐The parents explanation of everything. ⭐The ending. I really liked how things were set up for the next book.
Overall it was good but not great. Mostly disappointing. HOWEVER....I will be continuing the series.

I loved Val and Padraig 😊 they were so cute! And Nan was awesome! This book covered some heavy topics but, those are the best kinds of books. Val and her mother's relationship really hit home for me. There were so many inspirational moments and quotes. I was really moved. I loved it! I think Karina has a new fan. I plan to check a lot of her other books and can see myself rereading this many many times....more

I liked the pig, snarf snarf, and the children and the aunt, Maja, but the MCs fell flat and were very stereotypical. This is my second book by Karina Halle. The first was My Life In Shambles. And that was much better than this. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the MCs and at times it was a lot more tell than show. I also thought the smut was underwhelming or maybe just very typical. Overall it was just meh. It wasn't bad, but it also wasnt great. I started skimming at 60%. I won't be continuing with the other books in this series even though Wild Heir sounds like it could have been interesting. I will try other series by her though....more
