Let me state I did like Covert Games, but I wasn't in love with the story. Covert Games, to me seem like it had a slow start. I know I'm one of the few that feels this way, but I did. I also had a hard time with Leighton and Lucy. I didn't feel them. Hey that happens. I struggle with most of the story, it wasn't until the end that I started to feel a connection. The action did pick up towards the ending that was pretty good. A massive crap storm hits which made story for me.
Anyway, Covert Games wasn't a favorite for me. It worked for others. I would recommend reading the other stories in the series, before jumping into this one. They connect a lot to each other. Like I said others loved this story, and I'm ready to move on to the next story in the series. Katie is a pretty good writer, so I won't let this one stop me.

We have finally come to the end of Redemption Harbor in Chasing Vengeance. I have to say that it was a pretty good read for the last book in the series. In the previous book we meet Layla who has terrible luck with men. However, she feels a strong connection with Xavier, but he has friend zone Layla knowing what she's been through. Yet, Xavier's past comes to haunt him and possibly hurt Layla.
A fairly quick read, we get to see the full crew in action. Truth be told this series isn't really a standalone kind of read, each of these stories kind of build upon one another. As I said that we met Layla in the previous book. She was rescued cause she was in desperate help in the last book. Plus, she kind of needed a happy ending. Overall, a pretty good ending to the series.

I was excited to read Holiday for Two by Maggie Robison and Elyssa Patrick. I must say that I have enjoyed both of their works. Thou Maggie Robison normally writes more historical romance, it was nice to get a chance to read something a little different. So, let's dive into my thoughts on these two stories.
All Through the Night Maggie Robison
In this story we meet Carrie Moore who misses the last ferry to get to the island where her boss is at. Not only that she has to spend the night with her boss's nephew Lord Griffin Archer. Nothing like be stranded in a storm and with someone who rather be anywhere else.
All right, this story was a cute read with some heat between these two characters. However, Griffin isn't sure what to think about Carrie, but he feels this attraction to her. Yet, he doesn't want to take a chance. Eventually, he starts to warm to Carrie and possibly sees a future with her.
Honestly, I think I would like to see this story to go a little deeper. However, it's a novella and it has a great start if Maggie would like to make a full novel for Carrie and Griffin love story. Overall, a cute holiday get together between these two characters. Maybe I can hope to see more of story for them.
While It Was Snowing Elyssa Patrick
I really liked this story. You have Felicity and Harry who have been friends forever, and they both have feelings for one another. However, they have keep that to themselves. Yet, Felicity wants to change the situation and become more than friends. So, she came up with the idea with a weekend getaway at the cabin. Nothing ever goes according to plan and becomes a big huge mess that might ruin the friendship.
I loved this story, because the awkwardness made this story funny. Trust me there was an awkward situation. I love how Felicity was willing to put everything on the line to be with Harry on a more intimate level. Now Harry isn't your typical hero. No; he's a dork, but a lovable one. Come on it takes a special kind of gal to love a guy who wears bow ties. However, he was afraid that she would reject him, because he didn't see himself good enough for her. Overall, the story had me laughing and tearing up.
Now my overall thoughts on these Christmas novellas. They are short, sweet, and get you in the holiday mood. So, if you are looking for a quick Christmas read, you might want to checkout Holiday for Two.

You all know me and my problems with covers. Yes, I wanted to read A Christmas Code because of the cover. I'm seduced by the color red. I guess it's a good thing I liked the story, because I would have been in big trouble. Anyway, I actually like the older brother's best friend and baby sister tropes. They are a lot of fun. Here's why: 1) Best friend doesn't want to go after best friend's sister cause the bro-code. Ash knows this; example: Forbidden by some unwritten gentleman's code, Ash considered her off limits. She wasn't sure if it was the age difference of eight years, his rakish past, or her position as his best friend's younger sister. Basically you don't go after best friend sister. 2) The sibling in question tries everything in their power to get the friend to fall madly in love with them. Gwyneth does. She flirts with other guys trying to get Ash to see that she's no longer the little girl he once saw her. Ash doesn't have a problem doesn't have a problem seeing her more than the girl, it's that whole honor system. My reasons for best friend and sister trope. However, I don't see it as A Christmas Code as a true best friend and sister trope cause Gwyneth brother doesn't have a problem with the relationship. Normally, it there is a lot more struggle to get these two together. Sorry, I'm digressing here.
Anyway, A Christmas Code was a pretty good story. It kept my attention with the whole spies and plot to murder the Prince Regent. Then you have Ash trying to keep Gwyneth safe from the danger that is lurking around. Overall, A Christmas Code is a nice holiday read with a little bit mystery. I liked it so much so, I want to go back and read the first story.
Favorite Lines: "Allow? You've got a lot to learn about women. You never tell women that you're allowing them to do anything. That gets their backs up and then you can never, never win. Trust me- as an old married man."

Cocky Athlete that has a player reputation- check. Girl whose not a fan of bad boys- check. A wager to make the girl fall for the bad boy- check, check.
Seriously, Too Hot to Handle has all the makings for a fantastic read. Come on who doesn't love when there is a wager involve? They are a lot of fun to read, especially when the guy is so full of himself.
So, we have Jake Baldwin who is definitely the ladies man, and has no problem touting it around. Like all cocky guys he can resist a wager, it's like kryptonite. Basically, his challenge is get Nikki to fall in love him. Player no big deal. Nikki has join the Sonics to help clean up their image, and boy does she have her work cutout for her. These guys are hooligans of baseball, and they need an image overhaul. She has to keep her head in the game and try to avoid the oh so charming Jake.
Okay, I absolutely loved this story. First off, you have a charming cocky guy, where charm just oozes out of his pores, a straight up player. However, he's has a hard time charming the girl. I love that Nikki puts up this front like she's wearing player repellent, yet she's melting inside. She stays strong for a while, but that charm is hard to resist. As I continue to read the story, I got see different sides of Jake which make him seem more human and kind. I also adore Nikki, because she lacked self-esteem. I know that might seem harsh, but its more like she had a vulnerability that she masked as the ice queen. I love that Jake took the time to get to know her, because she didn't have great luck with guys. Which had to do with not being like her sister and kind of nerdy when she was younger. So, there was a couple of times where I was crying for her, because guys were guys.
Overall, I loved Too Hot to Handle, because it was more than just a guy trying to get a girl or baseball. The story was great, because you have great characters truly care what happens to the program and other people they encounter. If you have a weakness for cocky athletes that don't give up, you found your match in Too Hot to Handle.

I know, it's a shame. Especially, when I really love the authors that went in it together. The four authors that were part of this anthology are Ava Stone, Catherine Gayle, Jane Charles, and Jerrica Knight-Catania. I have read books from each of these authors and love their writing.
Now about the book: What would the season be like without the famous betting book at Whites? I bet pretty dull, so we have four stories writing by four authors. In this collaboration we have four friends Lady Philippa Casemore, Lady Georgianna Bexley-Smythe, Lady Moria Kirtwood, and Miss Patience Findley who are making there coming out together. Somehow each of them ended up in the infamous betting book at Whites. How are they ever going to make a decent match with that much notoriety?
The first story is by Ava Stone called, "By Any Other Name." We have Lady Philippa Casemore (also called Pippa) who is trying to avoid the devilish handsome Earl Of St. Austell, Jason York. However, she can't remember what he looks like. Which could be a problem within itself. Jason uses his lesser title to get close to Pippa, which it makes oh so much fun.
The second story is by Catherine Gayle called, "Flight of Fancy." Lady Georgianna Bexley-Smythe (also called Georgie) who has her heart set on adventure. However, her brother's friend Cedric Loring, the Earl of Montague had been asked to keep an eye on the family has a hard time keeping track of Georgie. Especially, when his stodginess is trying keep her out of the clutches of Lord Haworth.
The third story is by Jane Charles called, "Landing a Laird." Lady Moira Kirtwood would anything to get away from her mother. I don't blame her on that count. She is willing to marry a Scottish Laird and live in Scotland to get away from her mother. Gideon Baxter, Viscount Ainsley is out looking for a bride, but no one is to know this (shush). Gideon gets to know Moira and comes to really like her, but can't understand why she would want to live in Scotland. With all the stuff that happens to Moira, I would probably would have ran away and head to the continent or the Americas. Scotland would not be far enough away with a mother like hers.
The final story is by Jerrica Knight-Catania called "The Marriage Trap." Miss Patience Findley is trying to get past her father's scandalous actions and was fearful that she wouldn't land a husband. So, she enlist her cousin to make a scandalous bet in the book. Rowan Findley decides his friend Tristan Wafford, Baron Swaffham would work. The bet is made and Tristan on prowl to win his bet. Funny how rakes find out they actually have a heart after all.
All the stories were fun and entertaining. We have a reference from a previous anthology the Regency Summons Collection (by the way is worth the read, but it takes place during Christmas so you might want to wait till then or do a Christmas in July theme). This is worth the read. So, go check it out.

First off, Innocent Target can be read as a standalone, kind of. There are a lot of characters from the previous books that are in play here. However, the story does focus on Hadley & Axel. In previous story, Hadley does move to Redemption Harbor to get know her brother and father, so you might want to read the previous books.
Anyway, since she's reconnecting with her family she thought that didn't want her, she has become a target. After all, she connect to two powerful men. Basically, someone wants to harm her, but Axel is trying to prevent the situation from happening. At first, Axel was there to make sure nothing happens to Hadley, but once he gets to know her he doesn't know he wants her out of his life once he has completed his mission. His life is pretty shady, and Hadley seems so pure and clean that she might not want Axel once everything is out in the open.
Anyways, I liked Innocent Target. I had a little hard time getting into the story, because you have something happen, and then you would have to wait. A lot of waiting game going on in this story. However, my patience did paid off, and the story does pick up towards the middle when stuff starts to really take off. The key is being patient with this story. Overall, Katie does a pretty good job with this story.

We finally get Gage and Nova together in Hunting Danger. They have been skirting around one another for the past four books. However, I think it was worth the wait. Possibly this is best book so far. we still have one more to get to. Anyway, we have action and danger lurking through this story. Lite on the romance, but it's kind of a romance budding when you are in emanate danger. Also the obvious reason, can't fall for a co-worker, because what if it goes south fear.
Basically, Nova's friend is in danger, and Nova wants to rush off to save her all by herself. Fortunately, she has friends looking out for her otherwise it would have gone down hill fast. Gage has the hots for her, but doesn't feel that he's good enough for Nova. Why take a chance when you feel that she's out of your league. Anyway, they take a trip to Montana to save the friend, of course it doesn't go as plan, and this is where the story gets a little more interesting.
Yes, Hunting Danger does pick up the suspense a little more once they get to Montana and being chase by the bad guys. Nova and Gage have there fee issues, because of work, and feeling unworthy for the other. We have it all cleaned up towards the end, but we also have a little teaser of the ultimate plot that has been going on for sometime. Overall, Hunting Danger is probably favorite of the series. I liked Nova and Gage's story.

When I first read Tempting the Billionaire, I always hoped Aiden and Sadie would get their own story. Trust me I even asked Jessica on Twitter if they were going to get their own story. So, when I heard their story was coming, I super excited; more anxious. Then the news finally came Aiden and Sadie story was on it's way. YAY *Kermit flailing arms*. However, there was the prequel Can't Let Go, which highlighted how Sadie and Aiden relationship fizzled. I knew that they broke up, but I didn't quite understand. I knew why, and it was because Aiden was being stupid. Yet, it was more than him being stupid. Aiden is a pretty compassionate guy and he doesn't really want to hurt anyone's feelings. Dude the guy is a big ol' teddy bear when it comes to people he cares about.
In Hard to Handle, we jump ahead a year later. Aiden regrets the decision he made with Sadie, but it's too late can't change the past. When he made his decision he really thought he was doing the best thing for everyone. The chemistry is still there between them. However, Sadie is a tad bit reluctant to let Aiden in again. The great thing about Aiden is he would probably walk through fire to win Sadie's heart again. So, you Aiden trying to woo Sadie, but she keeps throwing the past in his face.
I did enjoy Hard to Handle. I thought the story was a little more emotional than Tempting the Billionaire. Sadie has some serious fears about letting into her heart. Aiden, yes, was dumb to do what he did, but he didn't do it to be malice. Actually, I don't think he has a malice bone in his body. Overall, I good story about conquering fears and letting love in. The great thing about Hard to Handle is that it can be read as a stand alone and you won't be lost. So, if you are looking new read, you might want to checkout Hard to Handle.

I decided to try out the Bridgerton series, since it has been popular on Netflix. Now have I watch the series, no. I tried, but I couldn't get into it. Shocker. However, I had no problem diving into reading The Duke and I. Instead of joining everyone on watching Bridgerton, I have decided to dive into what started that Netflix series. Granted my late to this part, it's fine. The funny thing is I have most of these books, and I had to only purchase a couple more books. Let's dive into the first book, The Duke and I. In this story we get to know Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings. By the way Simon is friends with Anthony who happens to be the older brother, I love that Bridgertons are protective of one another. However, Daphne and Simon cook up this grand idea of pretending to court one another. Simon stays off the marriage mart and Daphne might have more opportunity for suitors. We know how well that goes. Nothing like a fake courtship to stir things up.
Anyway, I'm a fan of fake courtships. I enjoyed the story. I liked how Daphne was accepting of Simon and his issues. She was very understanding. I guess growing up with a gaggle of siblings it becomes second nature. I didn't mind Simon, and his quirks. I mean I would avoid marriage if my father was a POS. I would totally let the line die. I appreciate that Daphne was able to find herself when her husband was being a douche. Overall, pretty good book to me. Since most of you have read this, and I'm a little late to the game.
Purchase this when it was on sale a long time ago.

A couple months back I listened to Second Chance Pass. I struggle with this story. The only reason I was able finished this story was it was due back at the library at the end of the week, and there was someone else waiting for the story. Otherwise, I would have sat on this story for a little longer. Now you wonder why I struggle with this story, and it was Vanessa. I can understand that she struggled with her feelings with Paul and the passing of her dead husband. However, how she treated Paul drove me batty. I wanted to smack her a couple of times. Even her friends had to talk her down a couple of times. She kind of used this adorable Doctor from Grants Pass to make Paul jealous. I was not okay with that, because he was a good guy. Paul is a decent guy, and he wants to give Vanessa space and to make sure she was done grieving. He does something stupid at the beginning of the book, and it gave me some concern. Fortunately the issue does work itself out. He's portrait as a decent guy throughout the story.
I can't really remember what else happens in the book, but I know there are other characters storylines going on. It was an okay listen. Even though I wasn't a big fan of this story there were other storylines I need to know about, so yes I continue the series.

I have been continuing my journey through Virgin River. About a month ago I listened to A Virgin River Christmas where we meet Marcie Sullivan who is in search of Ian Buchanan. Now Marcie's husband was best friend with Ian, and he brought him home to Marcie. Now Marcie need to have some closure, so she needed to find Ian. Now Ian had no desire to be found. He been keeping guilt as his close companion. Guess what she finds him, and he's not the same guy. Yes, Marcie breaks down all his wall. It took a little time for her bubbly personality to knock them down.
Anywho; this is a sweet Christmas story to bring the holiday spirit. Do you really have to read the previous books to get gist of what's going on. Not really. Ian and Marcie aren't canon to the series. Marcie pops up to the area with no real ties to the people, and the same with Ian. However, you do see the people of the town and they do welcome into the area. So, you aren't missing back story with these two. Now if you are a like me and invested into the story you will read this in order. Yes, they do find new beginnings to their lives. Overall, a pretty good listen. I like Marcie's can do, will do attitude. Ian does soften in the story.

A few weeks back I listened to Whispering Rock by Robyn Carr. As you can see I have decided to continue on the series. In previous books we met Jack's sister Brie Sheridan, and we learn that she was a prosecutor. She was working on a major case and it didn't pan out, and the guy walked. The guy takes his revenge on Brie and goes on the run. Brie is having a rough year. Another person is having a rough year is Mike Valenzuela. He is too recovering, and him and Brie bond this book. You know who has a problem with this Jack. Those meddlesome older brothers.
In Whispering Rock we still have that small town living where everybody knows your business. Okay it's not that bad, its mainly Jack who meddles in his sister's love life. Not only that we have a new family move into the area, which sets up scene for future books. We have tragedy, and heartbreak with one of the new members to the town. This story touches on death, and rape. Brie has to overcome some fear. Mike has to overcome his challenges. In the process they solve possible bigger problem in the area that has to deal with date rape drugs. A lot happens in this story, and a good majority of the story is intertwine with what's going on in the town.
Overall, Whispering Rock was a pretty good listen. I enjoyed the story of Brie and Mike's budding romance. Their is another budding romance in the story too.
I got a chance to read April May Fall by Christina Hovland. Overall, I liked the story. However, there were couple of thingsPosted on What I'm Reading
I got a chance to read April May Fall by Christina Hovland. Overall, I liked the story. However, there were couple of things I didn't like. One was her friends signing her up for an online dating service. April clearing not ready for something like that. Plus, she kind of had the hots for her boss Jack. I had to get that off my chest first before I could dive into the rest of the story.
Why did I pick this story to read? 1. I liked the cover. It's a super cute cover. Plus, I love color; very eye catching. 2. The title; it grabs your attention. It fits the story. Sometimes you get titles that you are like huh. 3. The book blurb caught my attention. I mean you have April who is holding onto a thread, and then you see it while streaming. So, we have Jack Gibson coming to the rescue.
I mean the opening of the story was epic. She gets roasted by other mommy bloggers, and she has to overcome her situation. Jack sees that she needs the encouragement. Of course something builds has he helps her rebuild her image. The kids are adorable in this story and I wish they played a bigger part in the story. Oh well.
I enjoyed April May Fall, and I found it to be cute read. The kids were adorable. Her friends were okay. I think I would have been pissed if they signed me up for a dating app. I'm glad that didn't pan out. Jack was adorable with the kids. Yes the story was a little rushed, but it was fine for me. I like that this is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I wouldn't mind going back to checkout the previous stories. If you are looking for some light reading with a single mom trying show that she's cool and collective, but hanging by a thread. She just needs a little encouragement this might be your read.
Holiday Ever After is a combination of novellas that Jill Shalvis wrote for a couple of her series. One Snowy Night and HoliPosted on What I'm reading
Holiday Ever After is a combination of novellas that Jill Shalvis wrote for a couple of her series. One Snowy Night and Holiday Wishes fit in the world of Heartbreaker Bay, and Mistletoe in Paradise fits in Wildstone books. I actually read One Snowy Night and Holiday Wishes when they released. However, I hadn't had a chance to read Mistletoe in Paradise. So lets dive into the stories.
One Snowy Night Heartbreaker Bay 2.5
Now if you haven't read my original review of One Snowy Night, lucky for you I have it right here: We actually got to see a lot of Rory in The Trouble with Mistletoe and if you haven't read it you have to see why Rory is reluctant to go home for Christmas. Even then it doesn't give a lot, but Rory left home and Willa took her under her wing. There is a lot jam packed into this novella, which could have been a little longer, but that is beside the point. Anyway, Max and Rory have been skirting around feelings, but there is a past issue. Poor Rory, life has been a little rough for her. The gist of things Max kind of holds a grudge, but conflicted with the idea of liking Rory.
Bottom line: Cute quick holiday read, and fills in the missing pieces of what happen with Max and Rory on the way home for Christmas.

Holiday Wishes Heartbreaker Bay 4.5
Another one I read. Who doesn't love a story that has couples stranded in a snow storm. Original review: Gotta love the holiday time in Heartbreaker Bay. However, this time we aren't anywhere near the magic fountain. The gang finds themselves stranded at a B&B. No problem. Hahaha! Sean comes face to face with a blast from the past. Okay, Sean and Lotti use to be a thing in high school, but Sean was stupid and let the best thing get away. Now he's trying to make up for what he did when he was young and stupid. Lotti can't forget Sean, but she wants him to stay in the past, after all he broke her heart. There always seem to be magic in the air whenever true loves comes knocking on the door. Poor Sean he has to prove to Lotti that he's a change man.
We have met Sean in the previous books, I mean he's Finn's brother. However, he's in the background. Now he gets his chance to shine and find love. Jill brings out another sweet quick romance that tides you over until the next Heartbreaker Bay books comes out. Sean and Lotti are cute and sweet, but Lotti is hesitant. I mean who wants to get burn twice in one life. So, if you are in need of another sweet, cute read that centers around the holidays, Holiday Wishes might be want you need.

These two little novellas fit into a series, and I stand by that you should read the previous books in the series. However, that is a suggestion.
Mistletoe in Paradise Wildstone 5.5
In Mistletoe in Paradise we meet up with Hannah and James. Now these crazy two have a past. However, they were torn apart due tragedy. They weren't planning to see one another forever. The lack of communication usually the death of most relationships.
The story was okay, because I was trying to figure out how this was tied to the Wildstone books. I don't remember Hannah from the previous books. If she was in the books she's a super minor character. Anyway, she gets a story that is cute and has reconnections from someone from the past. It's basically a quick filler story when it was written. It filled in the time till the next book in the series. Now do you have to read the previous books to get the gist of this story no. It can be a standalone novella. This story could have been a little longer.
Rating: 3.5 Stars
In Holiday Ever After you get three novellas in from two series that focus on Christmas. It's a way to put you in the holiday mood. I enjoyed majority of the book. This also can give you a taste of a series that you haven't tried yet if you not sure if you want to commit. The first two stories are slightly intricate to the series, but they can be still read as a standalone.

This book was a mistake for me, and probably should have stopped after a few chapters. I regret not DNFing Her Renegade Cowboy. I thought this would have more suspense than what was in here. However, you know what got me to read this book was the cover, and the promising book blurb.
Yes, Levi Roberts is an undercover US Marshall, and former Army Ranger. He's playing a cowboy on Lily's cousin's ranch. He's not there most of time cause he's at Lily's house getting it on. Lily is a school teacher. You are probably thinking she's sweet and kind. Wrong! She's sassy, and a firer ball. She could be with her students, but you don't really see her interacting with her students.
Majority of this book takes place around Lily's house. Honestly, you don't really feel the impending doom that her life is in until the last portions of the book. I probably should have put this story down, after the first time. I trudged on trying to read the story. If you are looking for a story that has more suspense you aren't going to find it here. Now if you are looking for hot steamy read, and not really going anywhere, this my friend is your read.

I got a chance to read The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling. Where we meet Vivienne Jones who is suffering a broken heart from Rhys Penhallow. She got a little too much vodka in her and she ended up putting a hex on Rhys. Flash forward to more present day Rhys comes back to Graves Glen and his magic is a little funky. Now Rhys and Vivi have to figure out how to break the curse. You learn more that it's not a simple curse to break, and I want to tell you more, but I can't. Is this story kind of campy? Yes. Is it adorable? Yes. It's a silly, fun read. You get to see if Rhys and Vivi are able to make a go at a real relationship or is it doom from the start. Is it scary? Absolutely not, but again a cute read with two people who have a journey to figure out how to solve a problem that might endanger the whole town. You learn a little more about Vivi and Rhys family history. Would I read this story again? Yes, because I love cute, campy reads. Plus, it's a light read.
