She's made a career in the military like Gunner and works in just as secretive branch as Gunner. She like Gunner is used to being by herself, so the Bishop family and their interfering and constant need to keep track of their family is something she has to get used to.
Gunner Bishop is the one Bishop brother who is more of a loner and has seen more bad in the world than probably all of his family combined. At the age of 18 he signed up for the military and never looked back. In the last couple years he's been working for a "secret" part of the government that was taking care of the filth of the world without anyone actually knowing who he was. But now he's ready to retire and possibly try to make a life with his new found mate. However, just because Gunner wishes to retire doesn't mean that the hits stop coming. There's more going on behind these hits on Gunner and it will take both Hodge and Gunner to figure out who's pulling all the strings.

Shiloh was a really interesting character to read about. After everything she's been through growing up with her famly, she's grown into a woman who suffers from anxiety issues, depression, and fearing answering the phone when any member of her family calls. James, well... I wouldn't exactly say he's a "mountain man" persay. He's a marine veteran who is trying to find where he fits in as a civilian now that he's retiring. So...with that being said and saying that I really liked this book, I was disappointed with the ending of this book and how the author just left the issues with the family open. There's really only one confrontation with the family and rather than Shiloh trying to finally stand up to her family she sits back and lets James do it. After that we as the readers don't know anything more and what happens between Shiloh and the family.

This one was actually my first book to read by this author. I'm the kind of reader, I do tend to read the reviews with new to me authors, only becauseThis one was actually my first book to read by this author. I'm the kind of reader, I do tend to read the reviews with new to me authors, only because sometimes...there are triggers or things in books I don't like to read about and authors don't always put that information out there. With that said, while I did know about majority of the issues with Seth and Otto, I was still so shocked with how long it takes Seth to finally straighten up his issues and life. I can understand getting married to help out your niece and her mother, especially given how Seth's parents are. However, Seth's actions might be considered selfless they are also very confusing. Not just to him, but to Jolie and his niece as well. Not only does he marry the women and stay married to her for like 10 years, but he kisses her especially around the niece, he says he loves her, and he did the deed with her TWICE! When I read this I had to go back to make sure I did miscontrue his sexual nature because I was pretty sure even Seth himself claimed he was gay. Otto, man I love the dude but the fact that he was willing to blacklist his name in their small town, lose his career, and get sent to prison all because some snot-nosed teenage boy wasn't getting his way was lame. Let just be honest here, it does nothing and teaches that kid nothing if adults are willing to take the blame for the crap he did. And the fact that nobody wanted to point out the stupidness to Otto about this really irked me. It also irked me that the fact of the matter was when everyone thought it was an adult setting the fires, they were ready to sharpen their pitchforks and set ablaze to the adult themselves...but once it was found out it was a teenager, the sheriff's nephew oh we are just going to say "bless his heart" and go about our day.
So final thoughts on this? I like the story. I really wanted to give this more stars because unlike the first one in this series, I liked the characters majority of the time and I was invested in their story. But the execution of the marriage, cheating, and taking the fall for a spoiled teen just kept me from giving this more stars. ...more

As a spouse to a military person, I feel annoyed that when it comes to Wade and his injury it's kind of brushed over. He lost his leg any many members in his unit. I would think this would mentally and psychologically scar a person as much as the physical reminders. But it's almost as if Wade lost his leg and he's all happy go lucky because he came home and fell in love right away with a woman he all of a sudden knows was suppose to be his, even in high school.
This one is a pass for me. I didn't really enjoy it and I really wanted to. =(...more

Did Ava's dad try to follow through on his threat and ruin Remy's career? What happened between Ava and her family? She just decided not to go to Houston and that's all we know. Did Remy keep with his career in the SEALs? While I can understand this was a novella/short story, I still feel this is stuff that could've and should've been addressed maybe in the epilogue instead the news thing the author felt we needed about Ava addressing her followers and her brand deal....more

I love reading books that have characters who aren't the perfect stereotypical romance perfect couple. Lily is living her best life with her animals that make her feel more safe and secure than any human could do. Going outside her comfort zone and starting a friendship with a soldier, through their writings, she finds herself falling in love with the man through their letters. Their connection isn't one that she is used to feeling, so when she finds herself being ignored and received a letter that Forest no longer wished to speak to her she's not sure what to do. However, Lily does know that just because Forest may not admit to feeling the same way about her that she does, that doesn't mean she's not going to be the best friend she can be to him. Knowing he's just back from war, she's determined to ensure he isn't left alone to his own nightmares.
Lily is really my kind of heroine though. She tells it like it is and while it may be because she doesn't understand social norms as well as any other person, I find it refreshing and honest....more

For years it's always been Lottie, Anson, and Rhett taking care of each other. Throughout the years feelings between Lottie and Anson changed from friendship to love, but neither believed the other felt the same way. However, a couple bottles of wine and the obstacles that Lottie and Anson saw in there way are no longer a problem. At least not unti the moment is over and Lottie wakes up to an empty bed. Anson may have his reservations about them and may think ghosting Lottie until he works up the courage to face her again, but there one night has changed everything. Will Anson work up the courage to finally claim the woman he's loved all his life? Or has he ruined everything with the only people he's considered family?
I loved this book. I actually really like books where the feelings the main characters have for each other are so obvious for everyone else around them, but not for each other.

After reading the first book I was so curious just how far Lequire was going to go to keep his secrets and protect his father's reputation as well. Reagan is Kiera's older sister. While the whole family has suffered the loss of their mother and Blake their older brother, Reagan has also had to deal with the issue of an abusive ex-fiance. After being with him for two years she's only just now finally starting to find herself again without the critical and hurtful words of her ex. Pele's been assigned to protect Reagan. A job that seems to be doomed from the beginning given that Reagan works outdoors in the mountains at an educational camp for school age children. He's planned and set up surveillance the best he could given the short time to plan for his mission. What he didn't plan on was Reagan herself. A woman who's obviously been hurt but is determined to take back her control and life. A woman who's willing to research a meal to assuage his homesick feeings for his homeland. However, these feelings are a distraction that Pele can't afford. But at the same time he can't hurt and reject Reagan when these mutual feelings and his beast call out for her. It's also not like the life he has now is productive and ideal for a woman. Especially one who's only just finding herself again after a failed relationship.
I won't lie, I felt like it took F-O-R-E-V-E-R to get to the action of this book. While I can understand it, I just felt like compared to the first book this was slow going and then when we do get to the action part it's very quick and over faster than I was hoping. By the time I got to the 75% marker of this book I was wondering if we were honestly going to be getting a book about this sister, but no issues with Lequire.

But his superiors can't just let Edwin walk away. Especially when he may know things that could really unseat and possibly kill these men who are quite comfortable being on top where they are. Plus, everyone needs a fall guy and who better than a loved and decorated Army Major who recently retired?
Storm and Rain have been on their own longer than they probably should've been. But for them enough is enough and their parents have taken advantage of them and their abilities more than they should've. While they both have their own magical abilities, Rain is more vulnerable and sensitive, so it's up to Storm to protect her from herself and their parents. Imagine both Edwin and Storm's surprise when they discover that they are mates. Two retired military veterans who honestly never saw themselves settling down are now trying to find a way to figure out the problems that they both seems to have.
I really liked this story. I can't wait to see how Tony and the woman he saved get along after the abuse she obviously suffered already at the hands of a wolf.

Gianna and Brody's story is probably my favorite so far. Because this story is so much more than just a blossoming romance between Gia and Brody. It's about them both learning to become the parents Lexi (their daughter) needs. It's about brothers finally fixing the residual hurts that still linger due to Cam's silence. It's Gia, finally discovering to accept the love and family ties that the Dimarco family offer, when she's wanted nothing more than that her whole life.
Gia has spent her life taking care of herself. She had selfish parents, they may never had abused her, but they neglected her emotionally and were always on the road looking for their own happiness. From the minute she could work, Gia's life was always about work, never letting her hair down. But on the anniversary of her parents death, she decided to let loose for one night, not knowing that it would change her life. Brody is the brooding Dimarco that seems to only speak in grunts and one word sentences. Honestly, he's not the one you would expect to be so reckless when it comes to his sexual life. He thrives on routines and structures, after all he was a SEAL for years. Life will definitely be turned upside down for Brody when Gia walks back into his life to inform him of the consequences of their one night stand. ...more

In Lucy (the Dimarco book 1) we learned that Cameron and Christian are the twin brothers and were always together, until the military separated them due to their specialties. The family hadn't heard from Cam in 2 years and being a military type family, they all were worried about the worst possible scenario. What they didn't know was Cameron was really on a 5 minute drive from them working undercover. Cam had his reasons for working undercover and not involving his family. But things with his case are at a standstill and they need the help of Sydney Harris, the ex-girlfriend of their target to help. But lines are soon blurred and feelings arouse between Sydney and Cam that have him reconsidering using her. Sydney has been used, degraded, and abused enough in her life by her ex. What she thought was a turning point in her life and relationship, she soon learns was just another man using her. But now that she is in on the investigation, she'll do whatever she has to and use whoever she has to, including Cam, to save her brother and get him out from under her ex's thumb. For both Cam and Sydney, they both will have to learn to love, trust, and let go of the past to move forward to a future with each other.
What I will say about this one that was disappointing, was there were a few things that were left out in the open that the author really could've touched on. For instance how was it Cam was able to transition from military to FBI and why was it that only Luke could know he was alive while the rest of the family thought he was dead? I mean lets be honest, there can be and always will be tensions between local authorities and FBI agents, so it's not like the two were working together on the case. ...more

So let me preface this review by saying, after reading the synopsis, I went into reading this book already with negative thoughts. Honestly, I can't just see any GOOD reason that Wyatt would cut Story from his life automatically right after promising her he was coming back for her. As a military spouse, Wyatt's actions aggravated me and honestly made me feel like he didn't think much in regards to whether Story could handle the life of military gf or not. He never even gave her the opportunity to determine if she could "handle" the changes in him after his time in war. Then to seriously have the audacity to say he was protecting her because she was innocent and couldn't handle that life?? Nope, not gonna fly here. Then to make matters worse, I honestly don't feel like he groveled enough. Story makes up excuses like "well he's my first love" " my first everything" and then just forgives him. I mean hell, her father died when he decided to go radio silent on her and she just accepts his offhanded apology...Nope still not happening. ...more

From what I understand, Travis' sister has a book that is separate from the American Heroes series. I have to say I was curious for her story, so I did pick that book up. Raelynn is an adorable character. I loved that she had her bakery that she loved owning and working with kids. Then going home she has a soft heart for animals that need shelter. She had adopted 5 goats and was readily open to adopting more animals. Raelynn is the soft and tender that Travis needs after going through a military career that has in a way hardened him. ...more

After meeting her in Never Let Go, she comes across as this badass chick who doesn't need a man for much of anything. She's strong, her brothers have seen to that, she's independent, and she's in a male dominated profession. But... by the end of this story I was more annoyed that the author turned PJ into an airhead! Just like the first in this little "series" (Never Let Go) there were so many details left out that could've made this story much better. We get no kind of backstory to PJ except that she has older brothers that have all been in the military or are still in the military. For Bow, we know nothing of his history except he lost his parents at a young age...that's it. We don't even really know much about his work either.
I think if I had to give this one positive it would be that I absolutely loved how dedicated Bow was to proving to PJ that he was her forever, even though he's never been in a relationship and has never let anyone close to him.

Wes and Graham have been friends for years. However, Wes left to get his adventures in life in the Army, while Graham made a career for himself in Anderson Pass Colorado as a wilderness guide. When Wes comes back he's looking to settle in a safe and calm environment without all the dangers that he experienced throughout his career in the military. From previous reviews and from the synopsis of the book the author is known for extensive details that gives the reader a more in depth idea of the Southeast Asian islands culture.
