Hypno-Xia is the 3rd and final part of the Recognition series by Mark Dowson. I became his fan after reading the first 2 parts of this series and was eagerly looking forward to reading the finale. And man, it did not disappoint me at all!
I am impressed by how well-researched the author is about spirituality, science, technology, climate change, and psychology. The author has a distinctive writing style. He doesn't bore the reader with info load and I find it commendable. The ending was shocking as well as thought-provoking. I am definitely rereading this series in the future....more
This is the second instalment of the series Reco2gnition and it starts right from where it lefts off in the first part. Dr. Ben RichardMind-blowing!!!
This is the second instalment of the series Reco2gnition and it starts right from where it lefts off in the first part. Dr. Ben Richards was kidnapped by a shape-shifting humanoid, Feng Shui who was sent from the future to kill Dr. Richards. Somehow, he managed to escape from Feng Shui but he has lost his memory temporarily. Another humanoid from the future, Merisi, helps Dr. Richards to escape as well as revive his memory and then sends Dr. Richards to the future. Their goal is to replace nuclear energy with clean and sustainable wind power. Will Dr. Richards survive to achieve his goals or not? You have to read this series to find out.
I enjoyed reading this book as it was loaded with information about climate change, androids, humanoids and SATOR square. The author has brilliantly combined real-life events like covid-19, tsunami and climate change with history, arts and science to create this unputdownable masterpiece. You will love this book if you are a fan of Dan Brown, like me....more

Mind-blowing! What a roller coaster ride, jam-packed with different elements and subject matters like time travelling, artificial intelligence, cyborgs, arts, history and religion!
The year is 2112 and the earth is no longer sustainable for life. The United Nations Authority came to know if Dr. Ben Richards had not been assassinated in 2017, the world would not be dying today. They sent a shapeshifter cyborg, Merisi, to protect and help Dr Ben Richards to bring his plan of building wind harnessing power generation system to fruition. Dr. Ben's project threatens the monopoly of GIATCOM, a nuclear power generation corporation so they sent Shui Feng, an AI android, from the future to counter Dr. Richard's plan. Dr. Richard is accompanied by a gorgeous reporter, Grazia Rossini, who is not only intrigued by his research but also concerned for his safety. She added a nice romantic touch with an air of mystery to the story but my favourite character is Merisi and I would like to call him the guardian angel of Dr. Ben Richards.
This book gave me Terminator 2 vibes and I could vividly picture Arnold Schwarzenegger and Robert Patrick playing the roles of Merisi and Shui Feng, respectively. The author did a brilliant job in flawlessly combining the aspects of science, history and religion to create this unputdownable sci-fi thriller. Thank you author for the powerful doze of infotainment. I not only enjoyed reading this book but also learned some new information that has piqued my interest like renewable sources of energy and SATOR Square.

I previously rated this book 4 stars but now that I think of it, its not worth 4 stars so I am removing 1 star.
Binti is a Himba. She lives in a city and crafts astrolabes with her father. She got selected for the Oomza University that is on another planet. She is the first one to be selected from her tribe as well as her city. Her family is against her going to the university so she flee to the town in the dark of night. On her way to the other planet, their spaceship got attacked by the aliens. Aliens with tentacles.....
I loved the world-building. The description of how their spaceship is built and all that.
However I managed to find few plot holes in the story. (view spoiler)[How did the folks from another planet managed to steal from the head of aliens if they were so fierce and have super powers. (hide spoiler)] So yeah, a little back story might have earned that 1 star.
It is a light read though. There are no complicated characters, twists or turns that may clench your heart. I found it refreshing after finishing the pile of ARCs so any of you folks who are looking forward to read something to shake you up from reading slump, this book might help you....more

Never read steampunk before and never thought I would like it. When I saw the cover of this comic on NetGalley I said to myself why not give it a try as the cover looks promising. The artist who could draw so good must have an interesting story to tell. And I wasn't disappointed a bit.
Oh my God the artwork! I can look at the artwork for hours and hours. The illustration, the detailing, the colors are all just so so amazing.
And the story! Too good! The story is full of action - a lot of action. There is element of suspense, thrill and mystery. A lot of twists and turns kept me on the edge.
Lady Mechanika - A lady who has mechanical limbs but no memory of her past. She is smart, fearless and determined to find out who did this to her. She thought she was the only one like that - part machine, part human being. To her surprise she found out she wasn't anymore. There was a mechanical corpse of a young girl. While investigating for the death of the poor girl, she unraveled mystery of some unique people and uncovered horrendous experiments of a science maniac.
Although I have read this volume but I still want to add this beautiful comic to my collection so I can read and admire the artwork anytime. I can't wait to read the next volume.

Captivating Story
Blades is a newly elected president. The last president not only left the country into poor state of economy, health care and engaged in unnecessary wars with two countries. He also left Blades a letter telling him the reason behind all the mess he created. The reason he mentioned was hard to digest.
He didn't believe that their planet is under threat of an alien invasion until he was briefed by Chief of Staff. He learned that a crew of 9 people were sent to space to assess the threat.
The spacecraft named Clark hosting 9 people in total - a mix of Special Forces men and scientists. What they saw there was overwhelming. The aliens were building something into space. They don't know yet what is that thing exactly.
Now, on earth Blades found out there is something fishy going around right under his nose. The last president Mr. Collins disappear. And Blades is determined to dig deeper and keep everything under control.
Positives:
One thing that I love about comics is that you can see the chacters and their expressions. This novel is well executed and well drawn.
The plot is quite interesting and captivating with many twists and turns. Character development is great. The reader instantly connects with the characters. The world building is excellent. I love the coloring and detailing.
Negatives:
I couldn't find a single negative thing about this comic. Except that they should mention on their book that it is an adult-themed comic with some explicit images and is not appropriate for young readers.

I am a huge fan of apocalyptic stories. I read this book with high hopes. And I am sorry to say I didn't like it much.
This is the first installment in the series. I was hoping there would be more detail about the virus and enough world building. It lacked in both. And when the fun started to begin, the book ended.
I am rounding up 2.5 to 3 stars because I see potential in writer. I hope she gives more details in his second book.

Alex: "Patience, then, is not a virtue of your kind." Justin: "Just like mercy isn't one of yours."
First of all, I must say that I love the cover of the book and the little detailing at the beginning of each chapter.
The Dawn of the Vie takes you in to the distant future where the world is now under the control of Vie - the aliens from another galaxy. They live off human blood, like vampires. They invaded earth and enslaved humans and humanity. The world has now 3 races:
1. Vie - Ruler of the world 2. Humans - Slaves of Vie 3. Anemie - Inferior to the slaves and nothing more than living waste
For Vie, humans are source of their food and entertainment while Anemie, being unhealthy, serve no purpose so they are destined to be killed brutally.
Justin is a fifteen year old Anemie. He is witty, stubborn and trusts no one. A smart act, I must say. He loves his younger sister Sammie to bits. He would do anything to keep her safe and breathing. Safe from both the Vie and fellow humans who have long lost their humanity.
Alex, a Vie scientist, also a member of raid party, abducted Sammie. When he drank Justin's blood, it made him high and swirled him into the sea of pleasures he longed to experience for centuries. Alex wants Justin's blood at any cost.
So, Alex would do anything to have him. On the other hand, Justin would leave no stone unturned in effort to keep himself safe from Vie and rescue his younger sister from Alex, the only hope he has to survive in this hell.
This story is thrilling and full of twists. The dialogues and arguements between Alex and Justin accentuate the story. The struggle and determination of Justin is praise-worthy while Alex ...... Oh Alex...my favorite character...He is just out of this world.
Laura Diamond is a great writer. Her writing style is spontaneous. The story flows beautifully and seamlessly, event after event, twists after twists. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that its a series. Damn! I can't wait for the next book!

Medical thrillers are not everyone's cup of tea. They depict scientific horrors, the ones that make your spine chillled.
The Mortal Fear is about a great scientific discovery or should I say, ironic discovery, the way Alvin Harris described it. What heppens when a great scientific discovery becomes the tool of an evil. Instead of saving lives, they were hell bound to take it from the ome they believe are not worthy of life.
