It kept me quite entertained while I was doing a little bit of work during Twixmas, when I was hiding upstairs getting some peace and quiet from my children whom I love so much.
My 4 year old did come upstairs and join me for a moment, and thankfully these stories are child friendly so I didn't have to switch it off at all.
The story was fun. River actually got to be an archaeologist and it had nothing to do with the Doctor which was nice.
I felt for the 'villain' in the end. No one deserved what she went through....more

It did give lots and lots of options for every possible celebration during the holiday season. All in all, a good book. A bit dry. Very Brit-centric which was actually refreshing when most often books a skewed American (And I say that AS originally American).
I did disagree about 'craft' gifts being awful. I personally love them, so long as they are what I ask for. I've been begging my mother in law for years to get me specific things relating to my hobbies, and she usually gets me something else of her choosing that doesn't fit me, isn't my taste, or is totally useless for me. Yeah I'm a bit salty about that lol.

Serena wasn't annoying, which is important to me in these books. Her sister however was, but that was due to her issues, which is the whole point. Hugo was likeable. And the 12 years later was quite interesting. I will be happy to start reading the proper series. I have read the first book in a different series by this author and I rather like her writing, so I imagine I will like this series....more

Actually, that's all I have left of the main series. When I finally finish these, I will be going to the spin off series.
It was enjoyable to read, and it did tie in nicely with the final book if I remember correctly.
I just don't much care for Alexa's father, who was the main character in this one. To be honest, if I really remember correctly I've never been fond of her father, even though he wasn't a prominent character. I guess that makes me Team Supernatural instead of Team Kill Them All (or whatever the teams are.)...more

BUT what shocked me, was seeing that the designer of the shawl was ‘An American Ex Pat living in _(where I live)_, England’ which is exactly how you could describe me. So I’m totally going to have to find her on Insta or FB and see if we can become friends, because I miss having knitty friends. I also really like that several of the bios for the designers have their Ravelry handle.
There are several patterns that already jumped out at me, but oh my goodness that Sotherton jumper is lush. I absolutely want to make that for myself some day.
I liked the addition of actual historical information about Jane as well as knitting in Regency England, from actual PhD’s. Quite informative (though I already knew the information)

So I was very casually listening to this, until I realized that I had less than 2 weeks until I was going to see the performance and realized that I absolutely needed to get my bum in gear.
Did some major listening sessions, but powered through.
I will say it was good... but my gods, this book made me angry at times.
And wow... I couldn't wait for Anne's execution. Hated her.
The narrator did a very good job.
I think, especially after going to see the play this weekend, I will have to take a very long break from anything Tudor.
Now to go read some light hearted fluff to read....more
So I had actually read/listened to this one after having read Romancing Mister Bridgerton because I needed to read PARGH.
I forgot to leave my review.

Yes, this is a Cinderella story. But specifically it feels like Julia watched Ever After and decided to do that version, just set in Regency.
It was enjoyable. I was not keen on the whole 'you'll be my mistress' attitude from Benedict.
All in all, it was quite enjoyable and I wish I had remembered to do my review long before now so that I could properly do it....more

It was a highly amusing second epilogue. Though the narrator felt... weird for the part. It sounded more like the narrator for Simon R Green's Nightside novels (Marc Vietor, not the newer one).
But all in all, enjoyable and kept me entertained while knitting before picking up the kiddos after I finished work and after their school....more

A few little spoilers for books not yet read, which I found a wee bit frustrating as I didn't have much of a choice in listening to it as it was built into the very end of the audio file I had. Oh well, I mean I already knew at least one of the couples that was mentioned. ...more

Enjoyable.
I don't feel like I got spoiled by skipping book 3, as technically I had already been spoiled by the epilogue in book 2. C'est la vie.
I am really looking forward to season 3 of Bridgerton now.
I was listening to this while on morning walks. Unfortunately I had to take a break from those walks because the cold was just too much. Which meant II was listening to this while on morning walks. I wish I had been able to read this one before I saw Bridgerton season 2, but that is only because I always want to read the book before I see the show/movie. HOWEVER, I still did thoroughly enjoy the show, and still enjoyed reading the book afterwards because the changes that were made were nonsuch that they caused me annoyance.
I liked the casting choices for Kate and Edwina, and thus the small changes they made.
I enjoyed being able to picture Jonathon Bailey as Anthony, because we played the part so well.
Back to the novel. The story was enjoyable, if predictable for a second book of a period set novel. The pall mall scenes were quite fun. The PTSD that both the characters have was quite well done and realistic.
I am going to do something I never do, and that is skip the next book and go to number 4 which is Colin and Penelope's story (Romancing Mister Bridgerton, only because season 3 is about to come out and I would like to have read it before then. Then I will go back and read or listen to book 3 (An Offer From a Gentleman )....more

First, Bruce Boxtleitner has such a lovely voice, I could probably listen to him narrate the phone book. Second, this is a slow burn. I actually had to come on here to make sure I was actually listening to the same story that I was supposed to be. Third, when it finally did become an Orville story, it all tied together and made sense, and was REALLY GOOD. It was good. I do wonder if it's a second series as opposed to the first series, as I feel like there is stuff I'm missing regarding the Charlotte Street club. I'm not opposed to listening to further books from this author. The narrator was quite good....more

Without spoilers, I loved seeing some certain characters though their main story is done. I liked how it went very Riverception at one point.
