The second part of this supernatural, urban-fantasy saga (YES, I LEARNED THAT THIS IS NOT A ONE BOOK OR EVEN TWO BOOKS SERIES BUT RATHER A SAGA WITH WHO KNOW HOW MANY INSTALLMENTS!! Though I have to say that there is no major (or any, for that matter) cliffhangers at the end of either book 1 or book 2) started off soon after the ending of book 1 with almost entire cast from previous book. We were introduced to a couple of new characters (some of them awesome, some not so much), learned a lot about the past of two main characters (Ruban and Ashwin) and got a lot more of friendship and drama between the two.
So, why the initial "meh" feeling and rating? Simply put - Ashwin. Don't get me wrong, I still adore the guy, but he felt a bit...distant and changed...in this installment. The chemistry was definitely there but perhaps I expected more.
Despite that, A Call for Brighter Days definitely keeps your attention and drags you deeper into that world. You just have to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. And it is quite a ride, let me tell you that!
I don't know when the book 3 will be available but I think I will be one of those people who will keep an eye on that and try not to miss it!
So if you are looking for a quick read, love urban-fantasy genre, angel-like creatures and drama then this is a book that should be added to your TBR if not put near the top of it!
