Codename Charming (Palace Insiders, #2)

3.75/5🌟
Codename Charming by Lucy Parker, the second book in the Palace Insiders series, is pretty charming although it's a little too long. It's a fake dating, grumpy sunshine kind of book featuring Matthias, a bodyguard to Johnny Marchmont and the Royal family member's assistant, Petunia De Vere. When gossip magazines start speculating that Johnny is cheating on his wife with Petunia, they come up with a plan which involves a fake relationship between Matthias and Petunia. There were so many great moments in this book which were really funny. This is all thanks to Johnny. If there is even the remotest possibility of something going wrong, it will go wrong with him around. There are some really funny incidents involving allergic reactions and kidnapped birds and a lot more. There is also a quest to gather more information about Petunia's family. The writing is really good. Lucy Parker writes some parts in such a way that there is almost a fairy tale like vibe there. It's enchanting and mystical in parts. Overall it was a good read.
I listened to the audiobook and I think that might have been a mistake. Also, this is one of the rare romance series for which I highly recommend reading the first book before picking up the second.
