Pretty good cowboy romance
I'm pretty sure I've never read anything by this author. She's good at establishing distinctinctive characters quickly and neatly. You like or dislike them fast without feeling like you're being manipulated. Trust me, it's a good talent for a writer to have. I find myself looking forward to the series. My only quibble would be the overwhelming nastiness of an entire town on the word of one man, when the sheriff says he's wrong. I've found the stupid nasty rural townspeople in other cowboy books, and I don't care for this trope. It's hard to believe that everybody would agree on anything, especially holier-than-thou judgmentalism. But I'm a San Franciscan; what do I know?
