April in Spain (Quirke, #8 and St. John Strafford, #3)

Quirke and his wife Evelyn are on holiday in Spain when he spots a woman who was presumed dead. This slow methodical mystery captures the pace and atmosphere of the sunny Spanish seaside only to be contrasted with the swarthy personality of Quirke. It is well written, provides some insight into Irish politics and provides excellent character development particularly with Quirke and his wife. It was a good read and I much enjoyed comparing the writing style in this book compared to the Sea. I would have rated the book higher but the ending was too abrupt and left me wanting more closure. 3.5 stars
