** spoiler alert ** If you’re the kind of person that has a crush on a celebrity or someone that’s not within your reach, this may be a good way to live that fantasy out. However, that’s where it ends for me. The story was okay generally speaking. Didn’t like the constant references to a past event that was never even told us or even if it was and I missed it, then it didn’t have the same effect/gravity I expected considering the constant flashbacks it was given. I’m not quite sure I now know what exactly happened those nights, ten years ago, that affected Chani so much that it was basically what the book was almost written around.
Not only that, I learnt that the entire plot of this book is based off a GQ article by Edith Zimmerman – which I have now read. Quite disappointed to say the least, plus no acknowledgement was given to her at all.
Additionally, I didn’t see the need for some of those article excerpts that were included in the plot.
Overall, despite the criticism and the confused after-effect it gave me, I enjoyed the book.
