I really like hermit and curmudgeon stories, and this started out solid. The main plot of this book, which I won't reveal, is ripped straight out of the headlines, so that fascinated me as well. Main characters had problems and insecurities and yet were interesting. What lost it for me was the straight up implausibility. First, barefoot in the dark in the woods and running and walking for HOURS? Pretty tough city girl, there. The incidents like that just kept going. But I suppose that is what romance books are for - getting completely lost in total fiction. Keeping the stupid moments to a minimum would have helped as well. So much promise, and so many flaws. Hence, my 3 star rating.
